Race 1: Gianni Restaurant 2yo Fillies Plate – 1010m
1st – Black Minx 2nd – Rare Diamond 3rd – Saratoga 4th – Pashionately Yours
SWEET MISS (J. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly.
SARATOGA (N. Beriman) and RHODAMINE (P. Wolfgram) were slow to begin.
FIVEGRAND (C. Small) raced wide during the early stages of the event.
STRATPLAN (S. Seamer) was forced to race wide from approaching the 800m.
Race 2: Carlton Draught 2yo C&G Plate – 1010m
1st – Acorns 2nd – Mountain Brew 3rd – Mr Orient 4th – Savana Royale
BEURRE, which took charge of its rider when proceeding to the barriers, was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon and found not in a fit state to race. BEURRE was subsequently declared a late scratching at 12.58 pm acting on veterinary advice. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on BEURRE were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 13 cents in the dollar on the face value on win bets, 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets.
ACTIONS (J. Byrne) jumped away awkwardly.
JOHNNY CASHLESS (B. Pengelly) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, taking MR ORIENT (A. Pattillo) out on to NAVIGATION (P. Wolfgram), which also jumped away awkwardly.
RUFESCENT (S. Seamer) raced ungenerously during the early stages.
Near the 550m, DAMASHQUI (T. Pannell) improved up onto the heels of NAVIGATION (P. Wolfgram) and had to be steadied.
ACTIONS (J. Byrne) was obliged to race 3 deep throughout.
ACTIONS was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon following the race and found to be shin sore in the near foreleg. Trainer M. Webb was advised that he must produce a veterinary clearance for ACTIONS prior to its next race start.
Race 3: The Mask 3yo Class 6 H’cap – 1110m
1st – Key Bar Nights 2nd – Growsir 3rd – Falvelisa 4th – Sommersea Drive
FALVELISA (A. Coome) jumped away awkwardly.
On jumping away the saddle on INDIANA STORM (K. Wharton) shifted back, placing INDIANA STORM (K. Wharton) at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
A short distance after the start, KEY BAR NIGHTS (J. Byrne) shifted out, taking CHABELI (S. Seamer) out on to FALVELISA.
Passing the 800m, SAM’S EXPRESS (A. Taylor), which was endeavouring to obtain a position closer to the fence, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FALVELISA (A. Coome).
Close to the finish line, BURN ME UP (K. Banks) was placed in restricted room between PUNCH UP (A. Pattillo) and HEY ELVIS (C. Spry), both of which shifted ground.
GROWSIR (G. Colless) was inclined to lay out for the entire event.
HEY ELVIS (C. Spry) raced wide throughout.
A post-race veterinary examination of SAM’S EXPRESS failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 4: RPM Rental And Leasing 1MW H’cap – 1350m
1st – Moglich 2nd – Kaoru Square 3rd – Eskimo Dan 4th – Time And Dandy
Apprentice S. Drake was reprimanded for failing to claim her allowance on OSTRAS.
OSTRAS, which made contact with the fence on parading, was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon and found to have suffered a laceratin to the near hind hip. OSTRAS was declared a late scratching at 2.17 pm on veterinary advice. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on OSTRAS were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 4 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 5 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets.
Shortly after the straightening, ESKIMO DAN (A. Pattillo) had difficulty obtaining clear running.
Approaching the 50m, ESKIMO DAN shifted out and had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of MOGLICH (J. Taylor), which shifted in slightly.
DOWN TO EARTH (M. Palmer) was held up for clear running for the majority of the straight.
TELEGRAND (B. Pengelly) and ESKIMO DAN (A. Pattillo) raced wide throughout.
Race 5: Primitive Surf Class 6 Mares Plate – 1110m
1st – Quizzical Lady 2nd – Dance Girl 3rd – Fabiarna 4th –My First Affair
FORTY EIGHT CRASH (A. Taylor) stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost considerable ground.
MY FIRST AFFAIR (K. Forrester) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with the hind quarters of WATAPEN (J. Taylor).
A short distance later, MY FIRST AFFAIR (K. Forrester) had to be steadied when tightened for room between MANIC LADY (J. Byrne) and WATAPEN (J. Taylor), which shifted in after receiving contact on its hind quarters.
COCCOLARE (A. Pattillo) had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.
Passing the 50m, MANIC MONDAY (J. Byrne) and SWEET JOSESHEE (N. Beriman) made contact as a result MANIC MONDAY (J. Byrne) became unbalanced.
LE SEQUANNA (A. Coome), BRIDIE BOW (K. Cunningham) and FABIARNA (G. Colless) were forced to race wide throughout.
Race 6: Brynhild 2MW Last Year H’cap – 1200m
1st – King’s Clan 2nd – Party Express 3rd – Grecolo 4th – General Patton
Apprentice A. Taylor was reprimanded for failing to claim her full allowance on STOOD UP.
FOOLISH (J. Byrne) and STOOD UP (A. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 900m, STOOD UP had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of GRECOLO (R. McMahon), which shifted in. FOOLISH, which was racing to the inside of STOOD UP, had to be momentarily tightened.
Passing the 600m, FOOLISH improved up onto the heels of STOOD UP and had to be checked.
STOOD UP had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300m and 200m.
Near the 100m, MR DOYLE (T. Pannell) was obliged to shift out around the heels of PARTY EXPRESS (A. Spinks) to obtain clear running.
NEPRO (S. Drake) and MESSIAEN (G. Colless) raced wide throughout.
Race 7: Kings Bloodstock Quality H’cap – 1010m
1st – Mitanni 2nd – Natural Destiny 3rd – Babinda Half 4th – Picardi Run
As S. Treweek was ill, G. Colless was substituted as the rider of NATURAL DESTINY.
After jumping away awkwardly, TESTIFY (J. Byrne) made heavy contact with the barrier gates. A post-race veterinary examination of TESTFY revealed the gelding had sustained a laceration to its off-side cheek.
TORNADO ALLEY (A. Coome) and TESTIFY raced wide throughout.
Near the 50m, BABINDA HALF (T. Pannell) and PICARDI RUN (S. Seamer) brushed.
Race 8: XXXX Gold Plate 4YO & Up E&G Class 6 Plate – 1110m
1st – Ghetto Blaster 2nd – Cognisant 3rd – The Pianist 4th - Mashudu
FALCONTEN (Michael Palmer) jumped away awkwardly.
THE PIANIST (A. Pattillo) and BILLY RIPPER (K. Cunningham) were slow to begin.
TORNADIC SKY (A. Coome) jumped away awkwardly, almost dislodging apprentice A. Coome.
TORNADIC SKY, MR CLANCY (B. Pengelly) and MASHUDU (K. Forrester) were forced to raced wide throughout.
Shortly after straightening, GHETTO BLASTER (G. Colless) shifted out to obtain clear running around the heels of SAMUI STAR (C. Spry) and in doing so made heavy contact with ALTERNATE (A. Spinks).
