SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Race 1: Tenterfield Saddler 2MW H’Cap - 1200m
1st –Attackum 2nd – Pyramids 3rd – Unintentional 4th – Leondari On Ice

WATCHYERBACK (B. Pengelly), ATTACKUM (C. Williams) and BORRACK (G. Boss) were all tightened for room on jumping away between DANZYLUM (D. Oliver) and BLACK SUIT (App A. Taylor), which shifted out on jumping away.

UNINTENTIONAL (C. Reith) was slow to begin.

LEONDARI ON ICE (B. Payne) faulted on jumping away.

BORRACK raced ungenerously for a short distance approaching the first turn.

KUTALO (J. Taylor) raced wide throughout.

In the straight WATCHYERBACK was not ridden out to the line in the normal fashion. After the race WATCHYERBACK was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon who reported the gelding to be lame in the near side front leg. Before WATCHYERBACK races again a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced.

MITANNI (App O. Turpin) was held up for clear running over the concluding stages.
About the 100m DAEDALUS (App Michael Palmer) had to be checked when crowded for room between PYRAMIDS (K. McEvoy), which was taken in by LEONDARI ON ICE (B. Payne) and MASTER DENIS (J. Bowditch), which shifted out after brushing with DAUNTING LAD (J. Byrne). The check to DAEDALUS was one of some significance however, in all the circumstances stewards decided to take no action but both B. Payne and J. Bowditch were reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances in future they must stop riding and straighten.

Throughout the race BLACK SUIT hung out badly and on occasions raced most ungenerously. After the race BLACK SUIT was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and no abnormalities were detected.

B. Payne the rider of LEONDARI ON ICE stated that throughout the race the horse had a tendency to hang in.

After the unruly running of BLACK SUIT, Mr Miller the stable representative for trainer R. Stephenson, was told that should the horse perform in a similar manner again action may have to be taken against it. It was noted after the race that BLACK SUIT had its tongue over the bit.

Mr R. Rowley the trainer of LEONDARI ON ICE was questioned regarding the treatment the horse may have received subsequent to its run at Ipswich on 4 May 2009 and in the lead up to today’s race. After taking some evidence from Mr Rowley today which indicated the horse had been treated as a result of a corn in its foot after Ipswich and during the week before today’s race it was decided the matter be adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Mr Richard Otto trainer of ATTACKUM stated that he had asked C. Willimas to try to ride the horse with cover. He said however, that after the race C. Williams had told him the horse had travelled kindly for him and therefore elected to go to the front. Mr Otto stated that when ATTACKUM had run previously at Eagle Farm when ridden by L. Cassidy he did not think they were a good pairing as the horse went to the post too strongly and was not comfortable in the run. He thought it was therefore advisable to engage a lighter jockey today who was able to use bigger gear.

Race 2: Darley Champagne Class -1200m
1st – Funtantes 2nd – Trim 3rd – Impulsive Dream 4th - Trounce

Due to a clerical error Darryll Brown appeared in the official card as the rider of FAIRCHILD when Damien Browne had been engaged for the mount.

FANTASTIC BLUE (M. Cahill) was slow to begin.

LINKY DINK (C. Williams) and IMPULSIVE DREAM (C. Reith) made contact on jumping away.

Near the 1100m MOVIE (D. Oliver) became unbalanced when racing in restricted room between FLEET ‘N’ FAST (A. Pattillo), which shifted out slightly and FACILE TIGRE (E. Wilkinson), which was shifting in slightly as it went forward.

For some distance approaching and rounding the first turn READY TO VENTURE (J. Taylor) raced ungenerously at the heels of FACILE TIGRE. At the same stage MODONNA commenced to overrace when being restrained by its rider in an endeavour to take a position.

J. Byrne the rider of MODONNA explained that from a difficult gate he had been asked by the trainer to ride the horse positively early on and endeavour to take up a position towards the front. He said that he was unable to do this and got back a little further than he had been instructed. He said that MODONNA had to work hard throughout the race and started to give ground about the 450m and 300 metres out was, in his opinion, a beaten horse. He concluded by saying that although MODONNA had to work harder in the race than he would have liked he still thought the run was somewhat disappointing. After the race MODONNA was examined by the Club’ veterinary surgeon who reported no abnormalities were detected.

After the race READY TO VENTURE was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon who reported that the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. Before READY TO VENTURE races again a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced which must include the results of an endoscopic examination.

Race 3: XXXX Gold Lord Mayor’s Cup – 1615m
1st – Rampant Lion 2nd – Solo Flyer 3rd – Rags To Riches 4th - Humma

RAMPANT LION (S. Scriven), RAGS TO RICHES (R. Thompson), EMPERATOR (J. Cassidy) and SPHENOPHYTA (M. Rodd) were all tightened for room at the start between HUMMA (J. Bowditch), which shifted in slightly and MARVEEN (C. Williams), which after jumping away awkwardly shifted out. In the incident EMPERATOR lost its position.

After passing the winning post S. Scriven (RAMPANT LION) put the whip in his mouth whilst easing the horse down. S. Scriven was given an official direction that this is a practise he must not engage in in the future.

Race 4: Glenlogan Park Stakes Fillies & Mares Plate - 1350m
1st – Ortensia 2nd – Belong to Many 3rd – Russeting 4th – Dorf Command

On jumping away DORABELLA (D. Oliver) was crowded for room between MORGALICIOUS (App C. Crylls) and CHARVICKY (D. Browne), both of which shifted ground.

NONSENSICAL (S. Galloway) and DORF COMMAND (K. McEvoy) made contact on jumping away.

CALCHRIS (M. Cahill) raced in restricted room for a short distance after the start between ILLUMINATES (J. Cassidy) and MARTINI RED (L. Nolen).

For some distance in the middle stages DORF COMMAND raced tight on the inside of ILLUMINATES and close to the heels of DANCE GIRL DANCE (H. Bowman).

ILLUMINATES, ORTENSIA (C. Williams) and CACHACA (M. Heagney) all raced three (3) deep for the majority of the event.

INSISTENCE (G. Boss) when endeavouring to obtain clear running in the early stages of the straight, shifted out making contact with ZERO ROCK (B. Pengelly) on several occasions.

When going forward in the straight ORTENSIA shifted in.

Leaving the 300m DORF COMMAND was momentarily impeded when attempting to obtain clear running between ILLUMINATES and DANCE GIRL DANCE.

Race 5: Hidden Dragon Doomben Roses - 2020m
1st – Awesome Planet 2nd – Ekstreme 3rd – Purple 4th – La Etoile

A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE (B. Payne) left the gates very awkwardly and shifted in abruptly across the heels of LA ETOILE (M. Rodd).

On jumping MOULIN LADY (G. Colless) became unbalanced when crowded for room between PRINCESS PULSE (G. Boss), which shifted in rather abruptly and EKSTREME (O. Bosson).

Near the winning post the first time A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE was checked rather severely when crowded by THINK MONEY (M. Cahill), which was taken in by RETURNTOSENDER (L. Nolen), which in turn was crowded by SEESAWING (S. Scriven) when that horse was taken in by MOULIN LADY, which initially had to shift ground inwards away from GRACESYND (L. Cassidy), which momentarily shifted in but was then straightened by its rider. The check to A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE was one of significance but in all the circumstances stewards did not consider that L. Cassidy (GRACESYND) had breached any rule and therefore it was decided no direct action be taken however, L. Cassidy was advised to exercise care at all times.

G. Colless (MOULIN LADY) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that near the 1700m he allowed his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of SEESAWING. As a consequence of this that horse was taken in onto PHEBETAY (J. Taylor), which lost running to which it was rightfully entitled and had to be checked. G. Colless’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence immediately and to expire midnight 29 May 2009.

Near the crossing at about the 1650m SEESAWING became unbalanced and was checked when crowded between LA ETOILE, which shifted out slightly and MOULIN LADY, which shifted in slightly. In view of the circumstances it was decided that no action should be taken.

Turning out of the straight the first time EKSTREME got its head up and became unbalanced when pulling and awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRIX DU SANG (C. Williams).

In the middle stages THINK MONEY was inclined to overrace and pull when close to the heels of EKSTREME.

On straightening EKSTREME shifted out in an endeavour to find clear running and go forward. As a consequence of this some inconvenience was caused to LA ETOILE and MOULIN LADY, which was giving ground and PURPLE, which was closing the race off quite strongly.

After the race the Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that PRINCESS PULSE had bled from both nostrils. Trainer M. Moroney will be advised that PRINCESS PULSE will now incur a mandatory three (3) month ban.
Race 6: Lyndhurst Stud BTC Classic – 1350m
1st – Court 2nd – Leapfrog 3rd – Geeza 4th – Al’s Best Mate

EXPRESS AIR (B. Pengelly) was slow to begin.

SIDE TO SIDE (M. Cahill) and ASHLEE’S JEWEL (App A. Taylor) made contact on jumping away.

JAZZ HEART (S. Scriven) jumped away awkwardly.

LOCAL TALENT (J. Taylor), which raced very ungenerously, shifted out approaching the 700m hampering YOUTHFUL JACK (R. Thompson).

JAZZ HEART, CAT D’ANTIBES (L. Cassidy), OVER THE WICKET (J. Cassidy), SIDE TO SIDE and COURT (D. Oliver) all raced wide throughout the event.

Subsequent to the race the Club’s veterinary surgeon examined ASHLEE’S JEWEL and reported no abnormalities.

Race 7: XXXX Gold Doomben Cup - 2020m
1st – Scenic Shot 2nd – Racing To Win 3rd – Sir Slick 4th – Triple Honour

STAND TALL (L. Cassidy) was slow to begin.

HIGH CEE (M. Rodd) raced wide in the early stages.

Approaching the 1700m MARKUS MAXIMUS (L. Nolen) became unbalanced when racing between MISS DARCEY (G. Boss) and TRIPLE HONOUR (D. Oliver) and lost ground.

Near the 1500m HIGH CEE improved up onto the heels of PRIMA NOVA (B. Rawiller) and shifted out taking BERNICIA (K. McEvoy) wider on the track.

When the pace steadied turning out of the straight a number of runners were hampered, the main sufferers were FULMONTI (J. Bowditch), VELOCE BELLA (O. Bosson), RIVA SAN (S. Seamer) and MIRKOLA LASS (M. Walker) and to a lesser extent BERNICIA (K. McEvoy).

S. Seamer (RIVA SAN) was fined the sum of $400.00 under the provisions of AR137A(2)(b) for unnecessary use of the whip on a horse which was well out of contention.

After the race the Club’s veterinary surgeon examined DOURO VALLEY and reported he was unable to detect any abnormalities.

Race 8: Darley BTC Sprint Quality H’Cap - 1350m
1st – Court Command 2nd – El Cambio 3rd – Hard To Catch 4th – Royal Discretion

RED ELEMENT (L. Cassidy) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

MR HORNBLOWER (B. Pengelly) was slow to begin.

Near the 900m HEY ELVIS (G. Boss) improved up onto the heels of RIGHTFULLY YOURS hampering FRIENDLY EMBRACE (K. Yoshida).

Near the 800m ROYAL DISCRETION (J. Byrne) improved up onto the heels of ROCKPECKER (C. Williams) and shifted out tightening the running of RIGHTFULLY YOURS (D. Oliver)

Leaving the 200m ROCKPECKER had to be checked when disappointed for clear running between MASKED ASSASSIN (L. Nolen) and MR BARITONE (J. Winks). A short distance later ROCKPECKER again had to be steadied when taken across the heels of MASKED ASSASSIN by MR BARITONE, which had been taken out by HARD TO CATCH (B. Stewart).

An inquiry will be opened into the reasons RED ELEMENT had to be checked near the 100m.

An inquiry will be held into the reasons for BARLINNIE (T. Treichel) meeting with interference near the winning post.

COCKTAIL SUPREME (B. El-Issa) and TERANABA (B. Rawiller) raced wide for the majority of the event.

After the race the Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that HARD TO CATCH had been galloped on on the near hind leg.
