As M. Wood was injured, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
Race 1: www.brc.com.au H'cap - 1650m
1st – Lord Antolini 2nd – Western Run 3rd – Prince Octane 4th – Bold And Away
MISHANI ARCHER (G. Colless), which was slow to begin, shifted in shortly after the start and made contact with PLAY IT AGAIN (S. Scriven), which was also a little slow to begin.
HERITAGE SHADOW (K. Wharton) was slow to begin.
A short distance after the start, CARN (S. Richardson) had to be checked when tightened for room between LORD ANTOLINI (J. Taylor) and MAJESTIC SOUND (B. El-Issa), which was taken out by PRINCE OCTANE (J. Byrne). Whilst stewards acknowledged that J. Byrne’s mount, PRINCE OCTANE, was inclined to shift out at that stage, in the circumstances they nevertheless reprimanded him and advised him they would expect a greater effort from a rider of his seniority to ensure that his fellow riders are provided with the racing room to which they are entitled.
MISHANI ARCHER and WESTERN RUN raced wide in the early stages.
Near the 800m, MAJESTIC SOUND (B. El-Issa) improved to the inside of LORD ANTOLINI (J. Taylor) where there was insufficient room and had to be steadied. In this incident, SIR NEON (C. Munce), which was racing to the inside, was momentarily tightened for room.
D. Browne, rider of WESTERN RUN, dropped his whip near the 200m.
Approaching the finish line, MAJESTIC SOUND improved up on to the heels of WESTERN RUN and as a result, B. El-Issa, rider of MAJESTIC SOUND, was unable to fully test his mount over the concluding stages.
HAVEN PRINCESS (K. Sawyers) raced wide throughout.
A post-race veterinary examination of MISHANI ARCHER failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 2: Cleanevent 2yo Maiden Plate – 1350m
1st – Won A Heart 2nd – Stay Put 3rd – Golden Cygnet 4th – Annia Minor
STORMY SUMMER (D. Tanti) was tightened for room on jumping away between KYLIE EM (R. McMahon) and CARRY THAT WEIGHT (M. Hellyer), both of which shifted ground. After this contact, KYLIE EM became unbalanced and lost ground.
GOLDEN CYGNET (S. Katsidis) jumped inwards at the start and bumped NOT A LADY (K. Wharton). NOT A LADY then became unbalanced and shifted in and brushed the running rail.
ANNA MINOR (L. Cassidy) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, tightening the running of STAY PUT (J. Holder).
A short distance after the start, ANNIA MINOR shifted out away from WON A HEART (M. Cahill) and made contact with BIRDS OF SONG.
J. Holder, rider of STAY PUT, was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out near the 300m, resulting in KYLIE EM (R. McMahon) having to be steadied and alter course away from the heels of STAY PUT. A short distance later, STAY PUT continued to shift ground and made contact with MR DUBAI (S. Scriven).
S. Scriven, rider of MR DUBAI, reported that the gelding, in his opinion, did not stretch out on the rain affected surface.
Mr B. Brown, trainer of CARRY THAT WEIGHT which led today, advised stewards that the horse raced in a rearward position at its most recent start due to suffering interference soon after jumping away.
A post-race veterinary examination of MY OLDE GOLD failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

MAC’S HERO was declared a late scratchingat 12.25 pm due to the downgrading of the track.
SEVEN KNIGHTS (C. Whiteley), MARCH MISS (M. Hellyer) and LILY MARKANE (K. Wharton) were slow to begin.
Approaching the 1100m, ARCHWAY RISING (S. Katsidis) commenced to overrace and had to be steadied from the heels of SANDMINER (G. Colless).
Near the 750m, DE NIECE (E. Kehoe) commenced to overrace and had to be steadied from the heels of ARCHWAY RISING (S. Katsidis). BRASCAN (D. Tanti), which was following, had to be checked in this incident.
NOT DECLARED (K. Forrester) and BROKACANON (M. Heagney) and LILY MARKANE (K. Wharton) raced wide throughout.
Stewards questoned apprentice M. Hellyer, rider of MARCH MISS, and trainer of that horse Mr K. Milham, regarding the mare shifting wider on the track rounding the home turn and in the straight, which resulted in the stablemate I’MYOURHUCKLEBERRY improving to the inside of MARCH MISS. Apprentice Hellyer stated that he was instructed to ride MARCH MISS in a midfield position, but after being forced to race wide in the early stages, he took the decision to push forward to the position in the lead. M. Hellyer further stated that MARCH MISS did not feel comfortable on the rain affected surface and in an endeavour to get the mare to travel in the race he maintained a position away from the fence in what he believed to be better going. M. Hellyer added that MARCH MISS when placed under pressure, laid out and despite his efforts to straighten his mount, it continued to shift out in the home straight. Trainer K. Milham confirmed the instructions and stated that this was the mare’s first race start this way of going and whilst it had worked well leading this way of going leading up to today’s event, he agreed with M. Hellyer that the horse was inclined to lay outwards when under pressure. Stewards, after viewing the patrol footage, accepted the explanation offered by apprentice Hellyer and Mr Milham.
Jockey G. Colless was asked to explain the performance of SANDMINER. G. Colless stated that the horse raced comfortably outside the leader and although he was hampered in the early part of the straight by MARCH MISS when that mare shiftded out, SANDMINER failed to respond to his riding over the final 300m and, in his view, proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of SANDMINER failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 5: Hidden Dragon 3yo Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Nujooloo Road 2nd – Beenoble 3rd – Faker 4th – Cool Rapids
Trainer R. Heathcote advised that SPEEDOMETER would be ridden off the pace today.
HOLD ON TIGER (L. Cheshire) blundered on jumping away and shifted in, making contact with LAVRA SELENE (C. Munce), which then became unbalanced and shifted in, bumping NUJOOLOO ROAD (L. Cook).
Shortly after the start, BUCKET OF CASH (D. Browne) and COOL RAPIDS (M. Hellyer) were forced to raced in restricted room for a short distance to the inside of SPEEDOMETER (J. Byrne), which had a tendency to lay in.
Near the 1000m, LAVRA SELENE, which had commenced to overrace, had to be steadied from the heels of BEENOBLE (L. Deguara) when that horse shifted in.
SPEEDOMETER overraced in the middle stages.
Rounding the home turn, SPEEDOMETER had to be steadied when tightened for room between SIXTH NOTE (L. Cassidy) and COOL RAPIDS, which shifted out to improve.
M. Hellyer, rider of COOL RAPIDS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the 200m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BUCKET OF CASH (D. Browne), resulting in BUCKET OF CASH having to be checked to avoid the heels of COOL RAPIDS. M. Hellyer was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 2 July and to expire at midnight, 14 July 2010.
SIXTH NOTE (L. Cassidy) raced 3 wide throughout the race.
NUJOOLOO ROAD and MIKINTA (S. Bogenhuber) raced wide throughout.
Stewards sought an explanation from trainer S. Phelps in respect of the seemingly improved performance of NUJOOLOO ROAD. Mr Phelps stated that the horse had trialled well in preparation for today’s event and felt the rain affected conditions, along with the additon of blinkers had aided the horse’s chances.
LAVRA SELENE compounded in the straight after racing extremely wide throughout.
Race 6: Mullins Lawyers Class 3 Plate – 1650m

TASTY TIDBIT (J. Byrne) overraced in the early stages and on a number of occasions had to be restrained to avoid the heels of TRISKELE (M. Speers).
PABLO (R. McMahon) was held up and unable to improve rounding the home turn.
S. Scriven, rider of AIGLON, which performaned below market expectations, reported that the horse travelled satisfactorily during the event and accelerated briefly when asked for an effort upon straightening but proved one paced over the concluding stages.
When questioned regarding the improved perfomrance of PABLO today, trainer B. Smith explained that after its most recent start he made the decision to freshen the horse up and place it in a race over a shorter distance in an endeavour to have the horse ragain its best form as it had previously won over 1200m. Whilst the horse had worked well in preparation for today’s event, he was nonetheless surprised by the improved performance.
