Apprentice J. Adams was reprimanded for failing to provide a letter of authority from his master.

Race 1: Ambassador Travel QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1200m
1st – Burleigh Heads 2nd – Utilism 3rd – Dansal 4th – Top Rada

The start was delayed due to SPINNING HEART having to be resaddled at the barriers.

WOLFSBURG (G. Colless), HI SON (C. Munce) and PRESENTATION (J. Byrne) were slow to begin.

Shortly after leaving the 900m, SILKEN ENDURANCE (J. Adams) faltered and became unbalanced and shifted out, making contact with DANSAL (R. Mason) on 2 occasions. PRESENTATION, which was following when racing greenly, shifted out, making contact with TOP RADA (E. Wilkinson).

Rounding the 800m turn, WOLFSBURG (G. Colless) shifted out and bumped BURLEIGH HEADS.

Passing the 800m, PURE SHORES (J. Taylor) shifted in, resulting in DANSAL being taken in on to SILKEN ENDURANCE, which had to be steadied and lost ground. PRESENTATION, which was trailing SILKEN ENDURANCE, had to be checked from that horse’s heels and shifted out, resulting in TOP RADA having to be steadied when taken out towards the heels of SPINNING HEART (L. Cassidy).

Leaving the 600m, TOP RADA improved onto the heels of DANSAL and shifted out, taking SPINNING WHEEL wider on the track.

Near the 500m, SILKEN ENDURANCE lost ground when racing greenly, resulting in, J. Byrne, rider of PRESENTATION, which was trailing SILKEN ENDURANCE, having to check his mount and shift out to avoid the heels of SILKEN ENDURANCE, causing contact between PRESENTATION and KHAANTANTES (B. Stewart). Consequently KHAANTES had to be steadied. Trainer M. Thexton was advised that a warning would be placed on SILKEN ENDURANCE regarding its racing manners.

DANSAL (R. Mason) was held up for clear running in the home straight.

SPINNING HEART and KHAANTANTES (B. Stewart) raced wide throughout.

Stewards sought an explanation regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of WOLFSBURG. G. Colless stated that after being slowly away he applied pressure to his mount to hold a position inside of BURLEIGH HEADS running to the first turn. He added that near the 700m when it became evident to him he would have to continue to apply pressure to WOLFSBURG to hold the lead, he thought it best to allow BURLEIGH HEADS to take the lead and take a trailing position on the back of that horse. G. Colless added that WOLFSBURG held its ground down the running but was somewhat disappointing in the circumstances.

B. Stewart, rider of KHAANTANTES, was afforded the opportunity of explaining the disappointing performance of KHAANTANTES. B. Stewart stated that from its wider barrier, KHAANTANTES was unable to muster the necessary speed to take up a forward position and he was obliged to position the horse worse than midfield 3 wide trailing SPINNING HEART. B. Steward added that several horses around KHAANTANTES raced greenly and he was forced to steady the gelding on several occasions during running and added that owing to this, KHAANTANTES was unable to settle into its stride and travel in to the race. He stated that whilst the horse was disappointing, he felt this had a distinct effect on the overall performance of KHAANTANTES. Trainer R. Heathcote advised stewards that the horse had worked well leading into today’s race and he had expected a more forward showing. Mr Heathcote undertook to report to stewards any abnormality that may become apparent in the days following the race.

Race 2: Landfill Logistics Open H'cap - 2100m
1st – Za Magic 2nd – Marked 3rd – Bell Academy 4th – Break The Ice

GO CART (A. Butler) was slow to begin.

Following this race the track rating was downgraded to Slow 6 retrospective.

Race 3: Cox Rayner Architects Benchmark 80 H'cap - 1600m
1st – Telesto Warrior 2nd – One Lickety Split 3rd – Rock Home Late 4th - Dancefloor

Connections advised that FOOTSTEPSINDUST would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

FOOTSTEPSINTHEDUST (J. Taylor) hung in when placed under pressure in the straight.

Over the concluding stages, ROCK HOME LATE (G. Colless) shifted out under pressure an made contact with DANCEFLOOR PRODIGY (C. Maund) on several occasions.

FULL METAL JACKET (T. Bell) raced wide throughout.

C. Munce reported that CHART was lethargic during the preliminary and did not travel for him during running to the extent that he applied the whip to the horse at the 600m in an attempt to make ground. He added that it did not stretch out in the home straight and proved disappointing. Trainer T. Edmonds could offer no explanation for the performance of CHART and undertook to report to stewards any abnormality that may become apparent in the days following the race. A post race veterinary examination of the horse failed to reveal any abnormality.

A post race veterinary examination of FOOTSTEPSINTHEDUST revealed a laceration to the nearside hock.

Race 4: Trade Coast Legal F&M NMW H'cap – 1350m
1st – Moneysaver 2nd – Diadem Trist 3rd – Lady Agulhas 4th – Zamboni/Belle Verde

FINN CLASS (B. Stewart) raced wide throughout.

Stewards sought an explanation from apprentice T. Bell regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of MORE BUBBLY. He stated that the filly did not stretch out for him in the early stages and only travelled fairly during running and made little ground under riding over the concluding stages and proved disappointing. T. Bell added that he rides MORE BUBBLY in its trackwork and that it worked well leading into today’s race. Stable representative Mr B. Killion informed stewards he was disappointed with the performance of MORE BUBBLY, adding that on the filly’s trackwork this week he believed the horse was a winning chance. Mr Killion undertook to report to stewards any abnormality that may become apparent in the days following the race.

ZAMBONI (M. Vance) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight when placed on the heels of the tiring BITASILK (G. Colless).

A post race veterinary examination of BELLE VERDE revealed the horse had sustained a laceration to the off-side forearm after being kicked by another runner on return to scale.

Race 5: Mullins Lawyers Class 6 H'cap - 1200m
1st – Rocker 2nd – Thefirthhole 3rd – Starstreamed 4th - Mossriver

CROSSCANNONS (G. Killen), STARSTREAMED (J. Taylor) and ANOTHER TAKEOVER (T. Bell) were slow to begin.

ANOTHER TAKEOVER overraced and got its head in the air in the early stages.

INVENENTORY (G. Geran) raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.

Near the 500m, BIG CHANCE (J. Byrne) shifted out across the heels of FELONY FLIGHT (A. Allen) and had to be steadied.

STARSTREAMED (J. Taylor) laid out throughout the event.

J. Taylor informed stewards that he endeavoured to get STARSTREAMED wider in the straight into better going however the horse was reluctant to shift out, which disadvantaged him in fully testing his mount.

Race 6: National Jockey Celebration Queensland Day – 1350m
1st – Morning Captain 2nd – Trump 3rd – Meghalaya 4th – Hidden Jewel

NO MORE BULL (J. Taylor) and PRETTY PINS (T. Bell) made contact on jumping away.

PEACE TALKS (M. Hellyer) and ABSALON (E. Wilkinson) bumped on jumping away.

G. Colless, rider of HIDDEN JEWEL, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1100m, resulting in SALADE (L. Cassidy) and MORNING CAPTAIN (C. Munce) being crowded for room, and causing MORNING CAPTAIN to lose ground. At the same stage, G. Cooksley, rider of NOISY OCEAN, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to improve to the inside of RUN WITH ME (B. Stewart) where there was insufficient room, which after a marginal shift from RUN WITH ME, resulted in NOISY OCEAN being taken in further, causing TRUMP (R. McMahon) to be checked.

RUN WITH ME (B. Stewart) laid in when placed under pressure in the straight.

DICKO’S DREAM (J. Wood) and BOYS ON TOUR (R. Wiggins) raced wide throughout.

An inquiry will be opened into the reason for ABSALON and NO MORE BULL having to be steadied leaving the 200m.

Leaving the 200m, PEACE TALKS (M. Hellyer) became awkward at the heels of the tiring SALADE.

When questioned regarding the performance of NOISY OCEAN, G. Cooksley stated that despite travelling well in the early and middle stages the gelding failed to extend when pressured rounding the home turn and in the straight. G. Cooksley was of the opinion that the prevailing track conditions contributed to the gelding’s failure to finish the race off as expected.

Race 7: Battery World Australia Bribie H'cap - 1110m
1st – Adebisi 2nd – Spirit Of Boom 3rd – Latin News 4th – Excellantes

A pre race veterinary examination of GIRLS GO RACING which bumped a tendon this morning at its stables prior to being transported to the course, cleared the mare to race.

GIRLS GO RACING (C. Schofield) turned its head to the side as the start was effected and lost ground.

EXCELLANTES (J. Byrne) and WHAT HAPPENEDHENRY (L. Cassidy) was slow to begin.

Near the1000m, DRENALIN (B. Stewart) shifted in and bumped SPIRIT OF BOOM (R. McMahon).

For some distance approaching and passing the 800m, DRENALIN raced fiercely at the heels of FANGLES (L. Rolls), and near the 600m, B. Stewart was obliged to shift DRENALIN to a 3 wide position to clear himself of the heels of FANGLES.

Near the 500m, SPIRIT OF BOOM (R. McMahon) shifted out to improve, taking FANGLES (L. Rolls) out on to EXCELLANTES (J. Byrne).

SPIRIT OF BOOM was momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight,.

Race 8: Carlton Mid CG&E NMW H'cap – 1350m
1st – Kiss Me Deadly 2nd – Symbiotic 3rd – Emmett 4th – King Of The Kongo

J. Taylor, rider of RATTLE ‘N’ RUN, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BRIBIE (J. Byrne), resulting in J. Byrne having to take hold of BRIBIE and relinquish his position to avoid the heels of RATTLE ‘N’ RUN. J. Taylor was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 5 meetings, to commence at midnight, 21 April and to expire at midnight, 29 April 2012. In assessing penalty, stewards acknowledged J. Taylor’s exemplary race riding record. For some distance after this incident, BRIBIE overraced and near the 700m had to be steadied from the heels of RATTLE ‘N’ RUN. CHORAL, (S. Galloway), which was following, also had to be steadied as a consequence.

At the same stage, FRETON (G. Cooksley) improved onto the heels of MORE ON THE TOE (G. Killen) and had to be steadied.

Near the 400m, CHORAL (S. Galloway) became awkward after being momentarily tightened for room between SIDE TO SIDE (C. Munce) and BRIBIE (J. Byrne), which shifted out to improve.

MORE ON THE TOE (G. Killen) had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 250m.

Passing the 200m, BY CHOICE (R. McMahon) and RATTLE ‘N’ RUN were forced to race in restricted room between EMMERTT and SNIP ‘N’ AWAY (G. Colless), which shifted out slightly.

A. Allen, rider of KING OF THE KONGO, dropped his whip near the 100m.

B. Stewart, rider of SHOW ME AN ACE, was fined $400 for failing to ride his mount right out to the end of the race.
