Race 1: Mitty’s QTIS 2yo H'cap - 1110m

GENTLEMAN JACK (P. Hammersley), which was fractious whilst parading, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

GENTLEMAN JACK was slow to begin.

ZARADA ANGEL (M. Cahill) was tightened for room at the start between CHOOSE A SAGA (E. Wilkinson) and I DOUBT I CAN (R. McMahon), both of which shifted ground.

GENTLEMAN JACK raced greenly and near the 1000m shifted in, tightening the running of I DOUBT I CAN (R. McMahon). When being corrected by its rider, it commenced to hang out across the heels of HOT AUNTY (B. Appo) and was checked. Trainer B. Herne was advised that GENTLEMAN JACK would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

ZARADA ANGEL was momentarily held up rounding the home turn.

HOT AUNTY and GENTLEMAN JACK bumped near the 300m.

HOT AUNTY raced 3 wide throughout.

Race 2: Grinders Maiden Plate – 2240m

HOT BICKIES (S. Drake) was slow to begin.

ZAPPA THE ROCKSTAR (T. Bell) began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping PETRONI (E. Wilkinson).

CRUSADER RABBIT (Michael Palmer) raced wide throughout the early stages until a point near the 1400m where it was able to take a position outside the lead. CRUSADER RABBIT then commenced to lose ground leaving the 500m. A post race veterinary examination of CRUSADER RABBIT revealed the horse to be slightly lame in the off foreleg. Trainer L. Campbell was advised that she would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for CRUSADER RABBIT prior to its next race start.

A post race veterinary examination of GANGSTA GEORGE (B. Wallace), which hung out throughout the event, placing its rider at a disadvantage, revealed the gelding to be making a mild respiratory noise. Trainer P. Rosel was advised that GANGSTA GEORGE would be require to trial satisfactorily in an official trial prior to its next race start.


Race 3: Ascend Sales F&M Maiden H'cap - 1200m

M. McGuren, rider of ANGRY APPLES, was fined $100 for weighing out without irons.

SNIP ‘N’ SNORT (G. Cooksley), SHEZ LONHRO (G. Colless) and BLOSSOM DEAREST (M. Cahill) were slow to begin.

LEISURE SEEKER (C. Whiteley) was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

MURPHY’S SUNRISE (G. Goold) raced wide throughout.

Race 4: Canadian Club CG&E Maiden H'cap - 1200m

ZAHASEA (K. Wharton), which became fractious in the barriers, was removed from the gates, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

DUELLED FORCE (T. Bell) was slow to begin.

MORE THAN SUPERB (A. Butler) was slow into stride.

REKOHU (E. Wilkinson) and REGAL SHOW (R. Wiggins) were tightened for room on jumping away between TIGER JET (P. Hammersley) and FATHER SHADY (J. Stanley), which began awkwardly and shifted in.

DUELLED FORCE overraced during the early stages of the race.

FATHER SHADY (J. Stanley) was held up for clear running from the 500m until near the 150m at which stage FATHER SHADY shifted out across the heels of SPURSWOODE (M. Cahill) in order to gain clear running.

SPURSWOODE (M. Cahill) and CREDIT ONLY (G. Goold) raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 5: Sequalo @ Lyndhurst Class 3 H'cap – 1650m

CASSE SQARETTE (R. Wiggins) and THREE RED ROSES (G. Killen) were both slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, EXCELLENT AL (M. Cahill) was tightened for room between SAVEEDA (B. Appo) and DANISH LASS (G. Goold), which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

At the same stage, CASSE SQARETTE was checked when tightened for room between CALCULATION (J. Byrne) and REGAL LEGEND (C. Munce), which shifted out away from I’M BUSTED (P. Hammersley).

DANISH LASS and I’M BUSTED raced wide rounding the first turn.

THREE RED ROSES, CALCULATION and O’GRADY (G. Cooksley) overraced during the middle stages, and when the pace steadied approaching the 600m, CALCULATION, O’GRADY and THREE RED ROSES all raced in restricted room.

O’GRADY was held up approaching the home turn.

ROMEO LAD (T. Bell) was held up in the early part of the home straight.

Stewards questioned M. Cahill regarding the performance of EXCELLENT AL, in particular the reason the gelding lost contact with the main body of the field during the middle stages. He advised that after receiving tightening at the start he settled at the rear of the field, however after passing the 1000m the gelding commenced to give ground and he was obliged to placed EXCELLENT AL under heavy riding in order to maintain contact. Jockey Cahill added that, in his opinion, the gelding would appreciate racing over further distance that that of today’s race. A post race veterinary examination of EXCELLENT AL failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

A post race veterinary examination of O’GRADY revealed the gelding to have been galloped on on its near hind leg and had lost its near hind plate.


Race 6: Ross Smith Class 3 H'cap – 1350m

Correct weight was delayed to allow P. Schmidt, rider of CANNY BE FAMOUS, to view the stewards video of the start to ascertain if she was afforded a fair start. Subsequently, stewards were satisfied that CANNY BE FAMOUS was afforded a fair start.

CANNY BE FAMOUS (P. Schmidt), which was fractious in the barriers, was very slow to begin.

MY KING OATH (P. Hammersley) was slow to begin.

BELIEVE IN HEART (L. Cassidy) overraced in the early stages.

Near the 800m, IN THE GENES had to be steadied when tightened for room by HARD WORK (L. Cheshire), which was taken in by ONE OUTED (G. Cooksley). G. Cooksley, rider of ONE OUTED, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

IN THE GENES was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

KOKADOODLEDOO (R. McMahon) had to be steadied over the concluding stages when IN THE GENES (T. Bell) shifted in. T. Bell, rider of IN THE GENES, was reprimanded.


Race 7: Bill Shuck Class 3 H'cap – 1350m

I SMARTICUS (M. Cahill) overraced at the heels of CHARSUI (K. Wharton) between the 800m and 600m.

STARGRILL BOY (G. Cooksley) was momentarily held up rounding the home turn.

STOLEN KISSES (T. Bell) had difficulty obtaining clear running from leaving the 500m until near the 150m.

Trainer R. Heathcote reported that GOTITALLWRONG lost its near side hind plate during the race.

Race 8: Sky Racing World F&M Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1200m

ROYAL CONSORT (P. Hammersley), MONTE BELLA (A. Butler) and FLINDERS CITY (A. Allen) were all slow to begin.

FLINDERS CITY raced very ungenerously during the early stages and near the 900m improved up on to the heels of GALLINARI (L. Cassidy) and was checked as a consequence.

Near the 200m when placed under pressure, SHAMROCK SLIPPER (A. Holt) shifted in across the heels of GRANZELLA (P. Schmidt) and was checked as a consequence.

ELUSIVE STORM (C. Whiteley) laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

Race 9: Yellowglen CG&E Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1200m

EYE ON YOU (M. Cahill) began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping SILVER COMMAND (P. Schmidt).

REQUESTED (P. Hammersley) and SOLAR HEART (L. Rolls) were slow to begin.

REQUESTED, FAVELA STAR (C. Munce) and ARCTIC COMMAND (B. Appo) raced wide for the majority of the race.
SYMBIOTIC, which bled from both nostrils during the event, will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months. Trainer T. McCarthy was advised that SYMBIOTIC will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months. Mr McCarthy informed stewards that SYMBIOTIC will now be retired from racing.
