SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS: Nil

Race 1: Australian Open Polo Doomben QTIS 3YO H'Cap – 1200m

UPSTART PRIDE – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages of the race.

LUCKY TOM – Steadied when tightened for room near the 1100m.

HIJACK HUSSY – Hung in when placed under pressure over the final 200m.

MISTER BOOZE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout the race.

B. Stewart was severely reprimanded for shifting in on SOLDI DOMANI when not fully clear of RED HOT DREAM, HIJACK HUSSY and LUCKY TOM near the 1100m.

Race 2: Novotel Brisbane Airport NMW H'Cap - 1200m

No racing incidents.

Race 3: Mitavite NMW H'Cap - 1200m

Stewards accepted the explanation given by trainer B. Smith for the late declaration of App J. Orman as the rider of GRANTLY MISS.

The start was delayed due to IDLE CHAT requiring farrier attention behind the barriers.

VIENNE – Steadied to avoid heels near the 700m.

LANIERI – Restrained from heels near the 400m when held up for clear running.

VILLAMILL – Unable to secure clear running in the home straight and as a result went to the line not fully tested by its rider.

QUIETLY CONFIDENT – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout the race.

B. Grylls was issued with a severe reprimand for permitting WATLING to shift in near the 700m when not sufficiently clear of VIENNE, resulting in that runner having to be restrained to avoid the heels of WATLING.


Race 4: Bell Plumbing Open H'Cap – 2020m

BELLTONE – Late scratching at 11.20 a.m. due to the downgrade of the track to a Heavy 10.

No racing incidents.

A post race veterinary examination of DARCI BE GOOD revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the inside of the off hind coronet.


Race 5: The Queensland X-Ray Open H'Cap - 1200m

PLAYITSTRAIGHT – Late scratching at 8.45 a.m. acting on veterinary advice.

MR FAVULOUS – Shifted out under pressure over final 100m.

BLACK MAGIC – Rider dropped whip near the 100m.

GREY COUNTESS – Rider stated that the mare never travelled comfortably throughout the event and proved very disappointing.


Race 6: St Vincent’s Private Hospital Mount Olivet OMW H'Cap - 1600m

KENTAUR – Slow to begin.

NOT TOO SURE – Slow to begin.

MANICERO – Overraced in the early stages of the race.
HARD TICKER – Checked near the 1400m.

KARANJA – Overraced in the early and middle stages of the race.

FOREST WAY - Overraced in the early and middle stages of the race.

App S. Payne the rider of CRACCO was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in approaching the 1400m when not sufficiently clear of MANICERO, which was taken in onto HARD TICKER, which had to be checked. Stewards acknowledged that KARANJA when overracing shifted out, which contributed to the interference suffered by HARD TICKER. App Payne’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) meetings to commence midnight 23 August 2014 and expire midnight 5 September 2014.


Race 7: Eileen & William Duffus Memorial BenchMark 80 H'Cap - 1010m

Correct weight was delayed to allow the connections of LENNIE’S CHOICE, which finished a dead heat for 1st, to view the photo finish. After viewing the official photo the connections were satisfied with the judge’s placings and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored.

TULLA TOUCH – Jumped away awkwardly.

EXPLORE THE WORLD – Steadied when tightened for room soon after the start.

LENNIE’S CHOICE – Blundered near the 600m and lost ground.

PRETTYFAMOUS – Inconvenienced over the concluding stages.

MARONEY AVENUE – Inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 150m. Raced wide throughout the race.

NATURAL DANCER – Raced wide throughout the race.

MISS MEGA HERZ – Rider explained the mare failed to handle the heavy track conditions.

EPSILON – Post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.


Race 8: AKS Homes Fillies & Mares Class 6 H’Cap - 1350m

SPOT ON MAGGIE – Slow to begin.

THIRSTY FOR BLOOD – Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout the race.

ITCHINTOWIN – Bumped another runner heavily near the 250m and became unbalanced.

GUNDY GAL – Bumped heavily near the 250m and became unbalanced losing ground.

ADORABUBBLE – Shifted out when placed under pressure over the final 200m.
Race 9: John Clapham Memorial Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 6 H'Cap - 1350m

WONDERFUL JESTER – Inconvenienced after travelling a short distance after the start. Eased when momentarily tightened for room near the 500m.

KARL THE GREAT – Overraced in the early stages of the race.

JOPA – Off side winker became detached near the 150m.

ROMANARMA – Rider dropped whip passing the 100m.
