WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - OUT 10M. ALL TRACK

Trainer B. Miller reported that SHOW A HEART was found to be shin sore after competing in the 2-Year-Old H'cap


RACE 1: TRALEE H'CAP - 1200M.

Trainer P. Kelly was fined $50 for failing to present the Document of Description for ANGE SASSI. Mr Kelly was further fined $50 for presenting ANGE SASSI to race with unsatisfactory reins.

SECRET BUSINESS and BRIDE PRICE were both slow to begin.

PRINCESS RAINE jumped awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with SHANI DAN.

Shortly after the start, BARBEL shifted out, inconveniencing GOSTEFI, CRACKLED and MISS LARA.

After travelling 100m., ANGE SASSI had to be restrained off the heels of PRINCE RAINE and from that point ANGE SASSI refused to settle and near the 1000m. shifted out and made contact with BRUSH. BRIDE PRINCE then had to be restrained off the heels of ANGE SASSI near the900m.. ANGE SASSI continued to race ungenerously until near the 600m.. Trainer P. Kelly was advised that a warning would be placed on ANGE SASSI. Mr Kelly was further advised to consider using the services of a stronger rider for the filly.

SHANI DAN hung out making the first turn and had to be steadied off the heels of BARBEL.

BRUSH and SHANI DAN came together making the home turn.

ANGE SASSI had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.


RACE 2: PUNCHESTOWN H'CAP - 1200M.

BAROLO was slow to begin.

SPORTS DIARY shifted out at the start, making contact with TELESIO, which in turn inconvenienced FLASH FRED, which was slowly away.

After leaving the 1000m., FLASH FRED shifted in and brushed the rail and became unbalanced.

Approaching the first turn, MIDNIGHT CAPEL had to be steadied when briefly tightened by BURN OFF, which shifted in. S. Killen, rider of BURN OFF, was advised to exercise more care in future.
SPORTS DIARY raced fiercely in the early stages.

Approaching the 800m., CAPTAIN MALLORY got its head up and when being restrained off the heels of THE LONDON BANKER. EL CARTERO, which was following, had to be steadied off the hels of CAPTAIN MALLORY.

Nearing the 600m., SPORTS DIARY, which continued to racing fiercely, had to be restrained off the heels of MIDNIGHT CHAPEL, which shifted in.

EL CARTERO had to be steadied off the heels of CAPTAIN MALLORY making the home turn.

THE LONDON BANKER shifted in abruptly under pressure near the 50m..

BAROLO had difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages, and close to the finish line shifted in and brushed THE LONDON BANKER

R. Griffiths was dislodged from the winner EL CARTERO after the winning post. Acting under the powers of Rule AR.142 stewards declared correct weight in R. Griffiths' absence. R. Griffiths was examined by the club's doctor and advised to forego his remaining engagements. The following riding substitutions were approved: Race 3. BLESSED TYCOON - K. Pope; Race 4. ALL IN RHYTHM - G. Baker; Race 8. DUSTY'S SHOUT - G. Baker.


RACE 3: LIMERICK H'CAP - 1500M.

Trainer L. Mayfield-Smith was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for VALIANT ROAD by the required time.

C. Maund was fined $100 for failing to claim his full allowance on LINDA LUSH LIPS.

DARIUS was a late scratching at 8.20 a.m.. Trainer M. Goodwin will be interviewed regarding the late withdrawal of the gelding.

MY TUDOR ROSE was slow to begin.

BARBARIANS jumped away awkwardly.

AUSTIN shifted out to improve making the home turn and in doing so made contact with MR. SMUGG on 2 occasions. INTELLECT, which was following, had to be restrained off the heels of MR. SMUGG in this incident.


RACE 4: LEOPARDSTOWN H'CAP - 2162M.

MR. CLASSICAL jumped awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with DASVADUNYA, causing B. Stewart, rider of MR. CLASSICAL, to become unbalanced.

DREAMSICLE and SIROCCO came together on jumping away.

RENFREW pulled hard in the early stages.
A veterinary examination of KING'S LODE following the event failed to reveal any abnormality, and a swab sample was taken from that gelding.


RACE 5: NAAS H'CAP - 1600M.

GOD'S SIGN blundered on jumping away, almost dislodging N. Jolly. In this incident, N. Jolly lost the use of his near-side stirrup iron for some distance.

MORGAN LE FAY was slow to begin.

SWAGGART was inclined to shift in under pressure over the concluding stages.

J. Bryne was examined by the club's doctor after injuring his right knee in this event and stood down from his remaining engagements. The following replacements were approved: Race 6. PREMONITION - C. Symons; Race 7. EXCELLING - M. Lister; Race 8. WHAT A MESS - S. Katsidis.


RACE 6: FAIRYHOUSE H'CAP - 1200M.

OPAL WARRIOR and JULAGO were slow to begin.

PREMONITION jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

K. Purdy, rider of TANNER'S TWIST, was severely reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift in passing the 1000m., tightening the running of SILK ORGANZA and ALL CHEER.

After reaching the lead near the 800m., K. Purdy, rider of TANNER'S TWIST, steadied the pace and as a result MR. DICKENS, which was following, had to be restrained to avoid that horse's heels.

On the home turn, PIONEER shifted out and made contact with ALL CHEER.

Approaching the 200m., OPAL WARRIOR shifted out and made heavy contact with HIDDEN HAND on 2 occasions.

C. Maund, rider of PIONEER, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out near the 200m. when not clear of PREMONITION, resulting in PREMONITION having to be steadied.

MR. DICKENS was unable to obtain clear running in the straight, and KAREN'S WAY was also held up for clear running until after leaving the 200m..

A veterinary examination of TANNER'S TWIST revealed a laceration to the off hind cannon.

The club's veterinary surgeon also reported that MR. DICKENS returned to the enclosure with blood in its mouth as a result of a small laceration to its tongue.




RACE 7: THE CURRAGH H'CAP - 1400M.

After leaving the 1000m., SUPERCUT had to be restrained off the heels of SQUARE UP.

After leaving the 800m., SUPERCUT improved to the inside of the heels of SQUARE UP and in doing so made contact with EXCELLING.

Near the 700m., TEST RUN raced in restricted room between ANOTHER OFFCUT and FINE SPY, which was inclined to shift out.

After entering the straight, FINE SPY again shifted out under pressure, taking TEST RUN out on to ANOTHER OFFCUT.

At the 300m., SUPERCUT shifted in and made contact with the hind quarters of EXCELLING, causing that horse to become unbalanced.

Near the 200m., SUPERCUT had to be steadied off the heels of EXCELLING, which shifted out.



RACE 8: TIPPERARY H'CAP - 1400M.

ALBRED jumped awkwardly.

DOING PLENTY shifted in at the start, taking ZAMORANO in on to ALBRED.

Making the first turn, ZAMORANO was briefly tightened for room by GO TRIST, which shifted in.

Near the 700m., SUPERIOR HAND had to be restrained off the heels of JAMUQUA.

At the 650m., SUPERIOR HAND again had to be restrained when tightened for room by KENTUCKY STRAIGHT.

Shortly after entering the straight, ZAMORANO shifted out to improve and in doing so made contact with PAUSE, which was then taken out on to GO TRIST. GO TRIST then shifted in, further tightening the running of PAUSE, taking PAUSE back in on to the hind quarters of ZAMORANO. Near the 200m., JAMUQUA improved quickly to the inside of ZAMORANO, then shifted out, making contact with that runner, which resulted in PAUSE being taken out on to GO TRIST. This resulted in both PAUSE and ZAMORANO being inconvenienced.

ALL WINNERS AND KING'S LODE WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
