WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - OUT 3M. ALL TRACK
RACE 1: CITY ROWERS SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 2118M.
Trainer B. Purtle was fined $50 for failing to present CABERNET ROAD on course by the prescribed time.
SUN SCREEN, VIRGO'S BROTHER and ALL NATIVE were slow to begin.
CENTURY EXPRESS was inclined to lay out after leaving the 600m. crossing, which enable TELESIO to gain a run to that horse's inside.
A swab sample was taken from the unplaced CABERNET ROAD.
RACE 2: BUSINESS POST INTERNATIONAL H'CAP - 1400M.
SEAHAWK MISS, which was kicked by another runner in the enclosure, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
As the start was effected, SHAHNE TARTAN reared and lost ground.
After travelling 100m., CHOCKERS shifted in and bumped SHAHNE TARTAN.
RACE 3: TATTERSALLS H'CAP - 2200M.
Trainer K. Butcher was fined $50 for failing to present INCENTIVES on course by the prescribed time.
Whilst parading behind the barriers, LET'S JIVE reared over and dislodged its rider, K. Pope. LET'S JIVE subsequently galloped for some distance. Acting on the advice of the club's veterinary surgeon, LET'S JIVE was declared a late withdrawal at 1.42 p.m.. On the announcement of correct weight, all monies invested on LET'S JIVE were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of win and place bets applicable.
Soon after the start, BOLD IMPULSE and LORDNOR were cramped for room between LORD OSCAR and RIOTCHEE, both of which shifted ground.
At the 150m., CHAMPAGNE SPRING was tightened for room between LORD OSCAR and RIOTCHEE, both of which shifted ground under pressure.
A swab sample was taken from the unplaced INCENTIVES.
RACE 4: EXPRESS POST H'CAP - 1000M.
As G. Colless was to be overweight, K. Pope was substituted as the rider of TRUST CLIFF. G. Colless was fined $100.
As the start was effected, MANNDO threw its head in the air and then veered sharply towards the outside and lost considerable ground. MANNDO subsequently tailed off throughout the event. Trainer A. Bailey was advised that MANNDO must pass an official barrier test prior to its next race start.
S. Seamer advised that after jumping away very awkwardly, ROBBITE failed to stretch out during the event and subsequently did not finish the race off in its customary fashion. A veterinary examination of ROBBITE failed to reveal any abnormality.
At the 900m. TRUST CLIFF was inconvenienced by CHEEKY SPY, which shifted in.
LITTLE SHOES was inclined to lay out around the home turn.
Approaching the 200m., TRUST CLIFF was obliged to alter course to the inside of PHANTOM'S BROTHER, which shifted out to obtain clear running.
RACE 5: PARCEL POST SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M.
JUST CASSIDY was slow to begin.
KING COCKY veered towards the outside on jumping away, taking WINE CLUB out.
When being steadied off the heels of GREAT CRUSADER on the first turn, CHERMOULA got its head up and ran out onto the heels of MAGIC OF MACKAY. JUST CASSIDY, which was trailing, had to be restrained.
At the entrance to the straight, GREAT CRUSADER contacted MAGIC OF MACKAY when taken out by WINE CLUB.
Close to the finish line, REGAL REGINA shifted in abruptly under pressure, hampering MAGIC OF MACKAY and JUST CASSIDY.
RACE 6: AUSTRALIA POST CUP - 1600M.
DIRECTOR'S SPECIAL was slow to begin.
G. Colless reported that although obliged to race wide throughout, DASHING IMAGE did not travel comfortably and was inclined to lay out.
RACE 7: FOSTER'S COUNTRY CUP - 1200M.
After being held up and unable to improve rounding the home turn, BIG GEOFFREY was then unable to obtain a clear run until nearing the 200m..
Near the 100m., BIG GEOFFREY was again disappointed for a run to the inside of ADJUDGE and was thereafter obliged to shift a significant amount of ground to secure clear running.
Apprentice C. Maund was fined $100 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram overweight on 3rd placegetter ADJUDGE.
J. Byrne, rider of the 5th placegetter, FORREST FLASH, was fined $50 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram overweight on that gelding.
RACE 8: INTERFORMS PRINTING H'CAP - 1200M.
ROMAN NEWS jumped in at the start, tightening MEGA JET on to PARAM.
A short distance later, MEGA JET was further hampered when continuing to race in restricted room.
PARAM was held up for a short distance upon entering the straight.
ALL WINNERS, CABERNET ROAD AND INCENTIVES WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
