WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - TRUE POSITION


RACE 1: SUPEREAD SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1500M.

After travelling a short distance, KISSES was reluctant to stretch out and lost ground abruptly. Jockey D. Craven reported that in his opinion the filly had resented the all-elastic girth, which was used on the filly.

Passing the 1200m., KIWI WARRIOR had to be restrained off the heels of POWER VISION, which shifted out whilst overracing.

After being inclined to lay in in the early stages of the straight, KIWI WARRIOR was then held up for clear running between the 250m. and 150m..


RACE 2: OLD GIRLS' ASSOCIATION H'CAP - 2100M.

MY FRIENDS was slow to begin.

For some distance passing the 200m., MY FRIENDS raced in restricted room when attempting to take a narrow run between the tiring GRAPPELLI and DARIUS.


RACE 3: FUJI XEROX H'CAP - 1200M.

VIRGO'S BROTHER was slow to begin.

ZUKA jumped the crossing at the 600 metres.

J. Byrne, rider of HOROWITZ, was cautioned for the manner in which he forced a run to the inside of BASTEE BERSATU at the 300m..



RACE 4: NORRIS MOTOR GROUP H'CAP - 1300M.

DEEDS NOT WORDS shifted out soon after the start, taking BUGATTI across the heels of VATULELE.


RACE 5: YEAR 12 PARENTS H'CAP - 1200M.

GRAFTY GUEST pulled hard in the middle stages.

A veterinary examination of YALLAH STINGER, which performed disappointingly, failed to reveal any abnormality. A swab sample was taken from the gelding. When questioned, jockey M. Cahill stated that YALLAH STINGER was provided with the run of the race, however made the 600m. crossing awkwardly and was a beaten commodity soon after. Trainer T. Button stated that YALLAH STINGER had done well since its 3rd placing at Doomben on 5 August, however in light of today's performance, YALLAH STINGER would be sent for a spell.

Barrier attendant Mr C. Merritt, in the company of starter Mr A. Schuck, was questioned regarding his handling of CRAFTY GUEST in the barriers. It was established that CRAFTY GUEST had become extremely fractious in the barriers and reared up, dislodging Y. Ota. Mr Merritt conceded that in attempting to bring CRAFTY GUEST under control he had struck the horse high on the neck on 3 occasions with an open hand. Mr Merritt was reprimanded by stewards for his actions.


RACE 6: ST MARGARET'S EXHIBITION H'CAP - 1800M.

MISS CEEANNE was slow to begin..

When shifting out around the heels of the leader, LE PHANTOM, at the entrance to the straight, FORGOTTEN HERO made contact with CELESTIAL ABBY, which as a consequence became unbalanced and shifted out abruptly, inconveniencing SISTER THERESA. A. Pattillo, rider of FORGOTTEN HERO, was cautioned regarding this incident.

C. Maund, rider of the winner POINT DANGER, was reprimanded for weighing in half a kilogram over his declared weight.


RACE 7: SSL SPOTLESS H'CAP - 1200M.

At the 950m., STAR TIPPER had to be restrained when cramped for room by MISTY GREY GIRL, which shifted in after being brushed by PASHA'S GIRL (G. Duffy). RASHIKA, which was following,shifted out off the heels of STAR TIPPER, inconveniencing MINGAMOO. G. Duffy was reprimanded in relation to this incident.

G. Duffy, rider of PASHA'S GIRL, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the 800m., he permitted his mount to shift in, taking MISTY GREY GIRL in on to KYAMBA STAR, which was hampered and in turn taken in across the running of TUNE TO, which had to be checked. TUNE TO also struck the heels of KYAMBA STAR in this incident and blundered. RASHIKA and MINGAMOO were again hampered as a consequence of this incident. G. Duffy was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 16 August, and to expire at midnight, 27 August 2000.

TIMBER CINDERS became unbalanced on the home turn and shifted out, forcing HELL'S ANGEL wider on the track.






RACE 8: BLUE STAR OFFICE H'CAP - 1600M.

BANFF CONNECTION jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, hampering UNISHAK.

UNISHAK pulled hard in the early stages of the event.



ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
