WEATHER - FINE TRACK - DEAD RAIL - TRUE POSITION ALL TRACK

THE TRACK WAS DOWNGRADED AT 7.45 A.M.TO DEAD AFTER A NUMBER OF SHOWERS. FOLLOWING RACE 5, THE TRACK WAS UPGRADED TO GOOD

RACE 1: BAIN GASTEEN PLATE - 1500M.

IRON ORE and THOMAS JOHN bumped at the start.

S. Seamer was questioned regarding TITTLE TAT unexpectedly settling at the rear of the field. He advised that after discussions with connections he anticipated the gelding settling midfield, however the horse did not show any early dash and rather than being caught wide he steadied to obtain a position closer to the fence. S. Seamer confirmed however that TITTLE TAT was never travelling that well and in fact he was obliged to slap the gelding down the shoulder as far out as the 700m. to keep in touch with the field.

RACE 2: MORETON INSTITUTE OF TAFE HOPEFUL SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1000M.

After riding in race 1, K. Pope became ill and was stood down from riding MAC HEART in this event. As no other senior rider was available, apprentice A. Morrison was substituted as the rider of that colt.

SEAENZA began awkwardly and made contact with SHAROU.

After beginning awkwardly, LIMITED PULSE was further hampered after the start by EPSOM HAIGE, which shifted out.

After travelling a short distance, SUPER IMPRINT attempted to buck. SUPER IMPRINT then raced very greenly throughout the event. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that a warning was being placed on SUPER IMPRINT with regard to its racing manners.

G. Geran, rider of SHAROU, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that leaving the 900m. he allowed his mount to shift in at a stage when not clear of SIGHTED, causing that horse to be severely checked and in turn taken in on to STRONGHOLD, which also had to be severely checked when tightened on to the hind quarters of SEAENZA, resulting in that horse being hampered. G. Geran was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 12 meetings, to expire at midnight, 4 November.

Making the home turn, MAC HEART became unbalanced after being bumped by TAG AND RELEASE and shifted in, causing some inconvenience to MIGHTY STRONGHOLD.

After passing the 200m., DANEWIN BEAUTY shifted in abruptly, despite the efforts of its rider, S. Seamer, resulting in LIMITED IMPULSE, which was attempting a narrow run to that horse's inside, being checked. In this incident, SIGHTED also had to be severely checked when taken on to the hind quarters of PROMISING JOY.

A swab sample was taken from second placegetter, SHAROU.

RACE 3: MYER CENTRE FASHION PLATE - 1200M.

MELLIERI was slow to begin.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CITY FAIR, A. Morrison stated that the gelding was feeling the pressure upon straightening and did not respond to his riding from that stage. Trainer K. Tinsley indicated that CITY FAIR was a horse which normally required a number of trials and racing to reach his peak. He explained that circumstances had prevented him from being able to trial the gelding leading into today's event which may account for the gelding's failure to perform to expectations. A veterinary examination of CITY FAIR failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken.

RACE 4: QUEEN STREET MALL H'CAP - 1800M.

MY FRIENDS was a little slow to begin.

RACE 5: QR TRAVEL TRAIN H'CAP - 1200M.

Trainer T. Bita was fined $50 for failing to effect a transfer of ownership for SUPERIOR RED.

SUPERBLAST jumped inwards at the start and made contact with BENIN, and then shifted out and made contact with ICY PRIDE on a number of occasions.

ICY PRIDE made the 600m. crossing awkwardly.

Following this event, the track rating was upgraded to good.

RACE 6: TREASURY CASINO CUP SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES - 1200M.

Trainer R. Heathcote was fined $50 for failing to declare a jockey for LORD HOBBITT by the required time.

MAGIC OF MACKAY reared up and turned around in the barriers, becoming momentarily cast over the back gates. MAGIC OF MACKAY was declared a late scratching at 3.32 on veterinary advice after the filly was found to have sustained lacerations to the inside of both stifles. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on MAGIC OF MACKAY were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 4 cents in the dollar on the face value of win and place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. Trainer R. Lipp ws advised that MAGIC OF MACKAY would be required to pass a further barrier test prior to its next race start.

KEEP COMING and HEROISM bumped on a 2 occasions at the start.

PANSY began awkwardly.

Approaching the first turn, J. Stanley's left foot become momentarily dislodged from the stirrup iron after his mount BRAVE HAWK was brushed by HEROISM.

At the 300m., HEROISM attempted to shift out from behind LORD HOBBITT however was prevented from doing so by ENA'S TREASURE, which raced to that horse's outside. Soon after, STARS IN BARS shifted out from behind the tiring KEEP COMING to obtain the position momentarily vacated by HEROISM. When shifting out, STARS IN BARS bumped HEROISM, which resulted in that horse being tightened on to ENA'S TREASURE, which in turn contacted the hind quarters of I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. As a consequence, all runners became unbalanced, particularly STARS IN BARS, which shifted back in and had to be severely checked off the heels of KEEP COMING, which was losing ground quickly. S. Galloway, rider of STARS IN BARS, was cautioned by stewards and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

DUEL WITH ME, which had previously been held up for a run inside STARS IN BARS, was further hampered when STARS IN BARS had to be checked near the 250m.. For the remainder of the race, DUEL WITH ME then was held up to the inside and behind the tiring KEEP COMING.
