WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK - DEAD RAIL – IN TRUE POSITION
RACE 1: THE MONK SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1000M
POLENTA and GOLD BOLERO were slow to begin.
JAR JAR BINKS jumped away awkwardly
Approaching the 800m SAHARA VICE, which was racing greenly, shifted out abruptly, inconveniencing POLENTA and COUNTER AGENT.
The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that CRAIGLEA HOPE sustained a laceration to the outside of the near fore cannon.
RACE 2: SKY ACE H'CAP - 2200M
BRIDLE COUCH was a late scratching at 9.30 a.m. acting on veterinary advice.
BONSANA, which got its head down in the stalls just prior to the start, was very slow to begin and lost ground.
POINTILLISM and ASSET SWOP pulled hard in the early stages.
Passing the crossing at the 600m BUGATTI had to be checked when tightened for room between LORDNOR and POINTILLISM which shifted in slightly.
RACE 3: CONTERE H'CAP - 1200M
POLAR PRINCESS was slow to begin.
VERSETIME jumped away awkwardly and shifted in and brushed GRANDVITA.
Approaching the home turn GRANLASSUE shifted out to improve and made contact with GLITTERING AFFAIR.
VIDA CELESTE was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
ROSE OF GLADFIELD was unable to obtain clear running in the straight.
The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that POLAR PRINCESS had broken down in the off fore tendon.
RACE 4: HOT RECEPTION H'CAP - 1300M
DISSENT and ROYAL CHALICE were slow to begin.
BAGPIPE BLUES also jumped away awkwardly.
After leaving the 1200m BIG GEOFFREY was inclined to lay in.
Near the 1100m OVER THE RANGE shifted in slightly, taking BAGPIPE BLUES in on to SEND A SUB, resulting in SEND A SUB having to be steadied. BIG GEOFFREY, which was following, shifted out to avoid the heels of SEND A SUB. J Byrne, the rider of OVER THE RANGE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
RACE 5: C.E.B. BARNES PLATE - 2400M
D Griffin, the rider of PEDRO'S GALLANTE, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in passing the winning post on the first occasion when not clear of ACORN ICON, resulting in ACORN ICON having to be steadied.
RACE 6: BRISBANE H'CAP - 1600M
ANTHEMS and CASUAL BAY were slow to begin.
Near the 1400m OUT BREAK and MIGHT AND GOLD made contact and as a result MIGHT AND GOLD shifted in and brushed NATURAL IS MY NAME.
Near the 1200m EMERALD ZOFF shifted in momentarily, tightening the running of MOUGI.
Approaching the 1000m OUT BREAK had to be restrained off the heels of JUST GUS which had shifted in. C Small, the rider of JUST GUS, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Passing the 1000m MOUGI had to be steadied off the heels of EMERALD ZOFF and in doing so shifted out inconveniencing CEREMONIAL DANCER.
In the early stages of the straight LORD QUICKSTEP was held up for clear running.
Near the 300m MOUGI had to be steadied when tightened for room by EMERALD ZOFF, which improved quickly to obtain a run between OUT BREAK and the tiring JUST GUS.
When questioned regarding the performance of VACEN LEE, S Katsidis stated that the gelding had pulled hard in the early stages and he was unable to obtain cover until passing the 800m, but was then forced to race three wide for the remainder of the event and felt that VACEN LEE had not been able to finish the race off due to being forced to race wide.
RACE 7: LORD REGO H'CAP - 1200M
Trainer K Schweida was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for DONLANI by the prescribed time.
As A Morrison was unable to claim his full allowance on REDAREB, D Wheeler was substituted as the rider of that gelding. A Morrison was fined $200.
REDAREB, which had been difficult to load, jumped awkwardly.
GOLDEN RUN jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
M Smith-Lester, the rider of SILENT ASSASSIN, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that passing the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of DONLANI, resulting in that horse being taken in on to WEST EXPRESS which clipped the heels of DONLANI and blundered. M Smith-Lester was suspended for a period of 6 meetings to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 22 November, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 3 December. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account M Smith-Lester's previous good race riding record.
Making the home turn MR. VELOCHEE shifted in and brushed the running rail and became unbalanced.
M Dorrington, the rider of FOREST SPRITE, reported that his saddle shifted back near the home turn, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
RACE 8: GREY AFFAIR H'CAP - 1600M
Trainer D Bougoure was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for HONOURABLY by the prescribed time.
An inquiry was adjourned into the reason why D Craven was to be overweight on BELLE OF SHEBA. N Day was substituted as the rider of that mare.
POWER VISION jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
J Hoopert, the rider of STRONGARM, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 1200m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SO RADICAL, resulting in SO RADICAL being taken in on to the hind quarters of AFLAC and having to be checked. J Hoopert was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence at midnight on Thursday, 23 November, and expire at midnight on Friday, 8 December.
AMAIZCAY blundered making the crossing at the 600m.
CELESTIAL IMPACT had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.
Near the 300m BELLE OF SHEBA was disappointed for a run between STRONGARM and TEKWILA which shifted in.
REPSHOT had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight and shifted out close to the line, resulting in CELESTIAL IMPACT having to be steadied. D Wheeler, the rider of REPSHOT, was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out when not clear.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
