WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - TRUE POSITION


RACE 1: EASY NOW SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1000M.

TRANSPARENT LASS, THYLACINE and GUARDED HONOUR were all slow to begin.

THYLACINE raced greenly in the early stages and was reluctant to hold its position inside GUARDED HONOUR.

Upon straightening, SOUTHEAST SHEILA, when racing greenly, shifted in despite the efforts of its rider, S. Seamer, resulting in GUARDED HONOUR and THYLACINE being hampered.

A veterinary examination of SOUTHEAST SHEILA subsequent to the event revealed the filly to be shin sore in both forelegs.

A veterinary examination of GUARDED HONOUR, which tailed the field, failed to reveal any abnormality.



RACE 2: EVASION H'CAP - 1800M.

After being loaded, ZEPPLIN became restless in the barriers and reared up, pinning M. Pelling's right leg. Both horse and rider were cleared to participate. Trainer A. Doyle was advised that a warning was being placed on ZEPPLIN with regard to its barrier manners.

When HIMALAYA FALCON obtained a narrow run to the inside of ICY PRIDE approaching the 100m., ICY PRIDE shifted in slightly under pressure, resulting in HIMALAYA FALCON being taken in on to the tiring FRAMEWORTHY. M. Pelling, rider of ICY PRIDE, was reminded of his obligations to make every endeavor to keep his mounts on a true course.

When questioned regarding CREATIONS unexpectedly settling at the tail of the field, S. Seamer stated after receiving tightening soon after the start CREATIONS lost ground and settled to such an extent that it left the horse well adrift of the field. He advised that his instructions were to ride the horse midfield, however in the circumstances the gelding travelled kindly, which permitted him to finish the race off strongly.


RACE 3: OUR JUG SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1300M.

As the start was effected, BRAVE HAWK turned its head, which resulted in the colt losing ground.



RACE 4: VEIL KINGDOM H'CAP - 1600M.

SUNSET began awkwardly.

Approaching the finish line, AFLAC was disappointed for clear running.


RACE 5: QUEENSLAND CUP - 3200M.

J. Taylor, rider of MAJOR SALVO, and J. Byrne, rider of GREEN DIAMOND, were questioned regarding an incident which occurred soon after the start where it appeared that MAJOR SALVO clipped the heels of GREEN DIAMOND. J. Taylor gave evidence that soon after the start MAJOR SALVO put in an awkward stride and blundered of its own accord. Stewards accepted the evidence tendered.

LOIS EMILY had to be checked off the heels of the tiring ALLEZ JAGAAN at the 500m..

A veterinary examination of CAJUN LASS, which compounded badly from the 800m., failed to reveal abnormality.

At the request of the stewards, the veterinary surgeon also examined MALTESE BEAUTY with no abnormality detected.

All runners in this event were pre-race blood tested.


RACE 6: PLAYGROUND & RECREATION ASSOCIATION H'CAP - 1200M.

DIRECTOR'S SPECIAL began awkwardly and lost ground.

THE KILDARE KID also began awkwardly and made contact with ALANOR LAD.

REAL SAY struck the heels of SCORSESE at the 800m. when pulling hard.

Over the concluding stages, ALANOR LAD shifted out under pressure, inconveniencing THE KILDARE KID. This obliged D. Griffin, rider of ALANOR LAD, to stop riding with the whip.


RACE 7: HOT RECEPTION H'CAP - 1400M.

ON VENTURA HIGHWAY was slow to begin.

When questioned, M. Pelling stated that from his awkward alley he was instructed to ride MISTER SWIFT quietly and that after settling at the rear of the field the horse was off the bit for the majority of the event. He indicated that from the 600m. he elected to remain on the fence rather than improve around JIMBOOMBA JACK and be forced wide on the home turn. He further stated that as a consequence MISTER SWIFT was left some distance off the main body of the field by the entrance to the straight, which set the horse a considerable task to make up the necessary leeway.



Over the final 75 metres, MISTER SWIFT was held up when attempting to shift out from behind FOREVER MISSED. OUR PRIME MOVER, which was racing to the outside of MISTER SWIFT, was inconvenienced.

A veterinary examination of JIMBOOMBA JACK, which performed disappointingly, failed to reveal any abnormality.

A veterinary examination of TIME SCALE, which tailed off, failed to reveal any abnormality.


RACE 8: LATIN MYTH H'CAP - 1400M.

Apprentice D. Griffin, who became indisposed after riding ALANOR LAD in race 6, was replaced by senior jockey J. Taylor on ASTRAL JOIE. This substitution was approved given no other apprentice was able to ride the mare at the appointed weight.

RIVER OF LIFE, which struck the outside rail during its preliminary, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

As RIVER OF LIFE had cast its off hind plate during its preliminary, the near hind plate was also removed prior to the start.

ASTRAL JOIE and PAUSE were slow to begin.

Soon after the start, LIGHTLY SHE GOES had to be steadied off the heels of RIVER OF LIFE, which shifted in.

Upon straightening, STAR SENSATION shifted out, resulting in CRAIGLEA DEVIL being taken across the heels of EXCLAIM. Whilst it was accepted that STAR SENSATION was influenced to some degree by LOTS OF MAGIC, which shifted out in advance of his mount, C. Reith, rider of STAR SENSATION, was nonetheless cautioned and advised to exercise more care.

Passing the 400m., MISTER CHAUVEL raced in restricted room between JEWEL OF THE NIGHT and the tiring RIVER OF LIFE.


ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
