A veterinary examination of RYDAL WATERS, which performed disappointingly, revealed that filly to be suffering from acute shin soreness in the near foreleg.
RACE 2: BAILEYS IRISH CREAM H'CAP - 2100M.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, after initially being cramped for room by ANCORA FILA, which was taken in slightly by APOLLO THEATRE, MY LYSANDER LAD had to be checked off the heels of ACTRESS GRACE, which at this stage was also steadied by its rider.
At the 1400m., MY LYSANDER LAD had to be checked due to the slow pace. As a result of the continuing slow pace, I WAS THERE got its head up and commenced to race ungenerously, and at the 1100m., despite the efforts of its rider, I WAS THERE shifted in and away from APOLLO THEATRE, resulting in DOODLE DANDY losing ground when tightened on to the running rail. PLACID REIGN, which was following, was hampered as a consequence.
A. Raby, rider of the winner, SAILOR'S LARK, was reprimanded for flourishing her whip on the winning line.

RACE 6: AUSTRALIAN SELF STORAGE STRATHPINE SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1000M.
As G. O'Sullivan was to be overweight, J. Stanley was substituted as the rider of HUGE REGAL. In finding an offence under AR 120(b), and given G. O'Sullivan's poor record on overweight issues, G. O'Sullivan was suspended for a period covered by 5 meetings, such suspension to expire at midnight on 11 March.
On return to scale, a protest was lodged by J. Byrne, rider of the 4th placegetter, ENA'S TREASURE, against MY LOURDES being declared 3rd, alleging interference approaching the 300m.. Whilst it was established MY LOURDES had hung in towards the rail near the 350m. momentarily impeding ENA'S TREASURE, stewards dismissed the objection having regard to the margin which separated both horses at the finish.
SAYANG reared and missed the start.
RACE 7: GILSHENAN & LUTON PLATE - 1600M.
Trainer D. Morrison was fined $50 for failing to declare A. Morrison as the rider of TURF KING by the required time.

An inquiry was held into an incident on the home turn where BLACKLOCK, TURNERZ, BRITANNICUS and CELESTIAL ABBY all struck interference. It was established that as FURTHER STILL shifted out to a position behind TURF KING on the home turn, BLACKLOCK was placed in restricted room between that horse and ANNALEA. Subsequently when ANNALEA hung in despite the efforts of its rider, P. Brown, at the 400, BLACKLOCK struck the heels of that mare and faltered badly, losing ground. TURNERZ, which was trailing, shifted out abruptly, resulting in BRITANNICUS and CELESTIAL ABBY bumping heavily. FRONT ROW, which was following, was hampered in consequence. In the circumstances, stewards were unable to attribute blame to any one rider and no action was taken.
At the 350m., NED'S REVENGE had to be checked when tightened for room between CONAIR, which shifted out slightly, and BLACKLOCK, which also shifted in slightly when unbalanced.

MACROSTRIKE was obliged to race wide until near the 600m. crossing.
Upon straightening, the tiring LARGER was hampered when tightened for room between TROUBLE IN HEAVEN and HOT SCORPION, which after initially improving to the outside of the heels of VERSAILLES, was obliged to shift out further when VERSAILLES drifted away from the rail. Stewards will inquire into this matter on a date to be fixed.
A swab sample was taken from EL CARTERO.
ALL WINNERS, LARGER AND EL CATERO WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
