WEATHER – FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL – OUT 2.5M

RACE 1: DAYBREAK LOVER H'CAP – 2215M

Passing the 1800m MAJESTIC HEIGHTS, which had a tendency to hang out, had to be restrained when cramped for room by JANE SUSAN. M Walker, the rider of JANE SUSAN, was cautioned.

On the home turn MAJESTIC HEIGHTS had to be checked when tightened for room between DESKTOP LOVER and IN THE GIDGEE which shifted out. It was established that as M Pelling, the rider of IN THE GIDGEE, commenced to shift out to improve, his mount ran up on to the heels of JANE SUSAN, which commenced to lose ground, and as a consequence shifted out abruptly despite his efforts. In the circumstances no action was taken.

BLACKMAILER was held up for clear running from the 300m until the 200m.

RACE 2: DIVIDE AND RULE H'CAP – 1000M

NO RACING INCIDENTS

RACE 3: MITTY'S WORLD OF SPORT H'CAP – 1200M

Acting on a report of trainer B R Guy who indicated that JEDI KNIGHT had suffered a stone bruise during the course of the week, that colt was examined upon arrival at the course and passed fit to start.

After travelling a short distance PIONEER had to be steadied when cramped for room between SCENIC PEAK and REGAL TYCOON.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of JEDI KNIGHT, C Brown stated that the horse travelled well throughout the event, however when placed under pressure in the straight it tended to get its head up and raced awkwardly. C Brown confirmed that there was nothing amiss with the horse's action and he could provide no obvious excuse for the performance. A further veterinary examination of JEDI KNIGHT following the event again failed to reveal any abnormality.

A veterinary examination of CENTRE FORCE, which raced disappointingly, also failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 4: ROUGH HABIT H'CAP – 1500M

PARIS FORTUNE tended to overrace when being steadied off the heels of CENTONA which assumed the lead approaching the 800m.

AMAIZCAY was held up for clear running until after passing the 200m.

Leaving the 300m MISS CEEANNE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BETRILLE which shifted out to obtain clear running.

MISS CEEANNE was again obliged to alter course abruptly to the inside of PAUSE to gain clear running nearing the 100m.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on PAUSE in today's event, D Gauci stated that he anticipated the mare getting back in the field and indeed had instructions to ride his mount where she felt comfortable. He further indicated that PAUSE jumped well and immediately assumed a prominent position without being pressured, however when obliged to race three wide in the early and middle stages he elected to press forward and assume a position closer to the lead outside CENTONA. D Gauci's explanation was accepted.

RACE 5: AMBASSADOR TRAVEL SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP – 1200M

Soon after the start HEAVEN'S QUEST shifted out resulting in ESSJAYPEE, SOMMELIER'S CHOICE and COOLAWIN all being inconvenienced.

When AGITATOR shifted out around the heels of ALL POINTS NORTH after leaving the 300m, ESSJAYPEE was taken out on to POETIC HEIGHTS which in turn made contact with the hind quarters of LIMITED IMPULSE.

RACE 7: AAMI QUEENSLAND DERBY SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES – 2400M

The saddle on DIAMOND ZOFF shifted forward in the early stages which placed its rider J Taylor at some inconvenience for the remainder of the event.

S Baster, the rider of LOLITA STAR, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 2100m he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of THE ALMIGHTY ONE, resulting in THE ALMIGHTY ONE being crowded on to LOTTERY PRIZE. As a consequence, THE ALMIGHTY ONE struck the heels of LOLITA STAR and blundered badly, almost dislodging its rider M Walker. In this incident M Walker's foot became dislodged from the near side stirrup iron resulting in him having little control over his mount. THE ALMIGHTY ONE then shifted out, severely hampering THIS MANSHOOD and AWESOME WEATHER. S Baster was suspended for a period of 4 weeks, to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 13 June, and expire at midnight on Wednesday, 11 July.

B York, the rider of ALTIERO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that at the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of DE GAULLE LANE, resulting in that horse being tightened for room and having to be restrained. As a consequence, AIR WAR and LOLITA STAR, which were following, both had to be checked. LOLITA STAR then got its head in the air and shifted out abruptly severely hampering PATELLA and KARADAN. B York was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 13 June, and expire at midnight on Wednesday, 27 June.

KARADAN ran off on the home turn forcing THE ALMIGHTY ONE wider on the track.

A veterinary examination of KARADAN, which tailed off, revealed that colt to be sore in the off foreleg.

RACE 8: AAMI STRADBROKE H'CAP – 1400M

HEATHER was very slow to begin.

Soon after the start HIRE shifted out causing a general movement in which CHEIRON made solid contact with SHOW A HEART, causing that horse to be taken across the heels of CENTURY KID.

CHEIRON tended to overrace passing the 1200m and shifted in across the heels of HIRE. CHEIRON continued to race fiercely in the middle stages.

IGLESIA had to be restrained off the heels of PERFECT PARADISE at the 650m. At the same stage SHOW A HEART ran up on to the heels of MAKE MINE MAGIC and also had to be checked.

Near the 400m the tiring PERFECT PARADISE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MAKE MINE MAGIC which shifted out to improve. B Prebble, the rider of MAKE MINE MAGIC, was cautioned.

As both CRAWL and PORTO ROCA attempted the same run between CENTURY KID and CEFFYL near the 200m, PORTO ROCA made contact with CEFFYL, resulting in that horse becoming unbalanced. Whilst no direct action was taken, D Gauci in particular was cautioned for forcing a run at that stage.

SPYING and ATEATES were both held up for clear running over the final 100m.

RACE 9: CANTERBURY BELLE H'CAP – 1200M

As S Galloway was indisposed, T Collett was substituted as the rider of DIAMONDS FOR ME.
