CARBRECEL - C. Brown; Race 4. KISS AN ANGEL - G. Baker; Race 5. GREAT CRUSADER - S. King; Race 7. RESTLESS - G. Colless; Race 8. DESK TOP LOVER - J. Stanley. Given S. Katsidis's poor record with regard to overweight infringements, his licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings, to commence immediately, with the term of suspension to expire at midnight, Friday, 21 June.

RACE 1: CAFÉ 21 H'CAP - 1826M.

Trainer J. Collins was fined $50 for failing to presenting EVENPSALM to the enclosure by the prescribed time.

GLADMAC was slow to begin.

When being steadied off the heels of MY VISION SPLENDID, which shifted in near the 1600m., IN SINGAPORE made contact with the hind quarters of STORM SCENE.

RACE 2: CASINO REWARDS H'CAP - 1300M.

Due to a misunderstanding, V. Caddy was declared as the rider of both OUT BREAK and IDYLLIC DREAM. N. Evans was substituted as the rider of OUT BREAK.

Soon after the start, OUT BREAK lost a little ground when cramped for room between WYNGROVE and RAGNAR.

R. McLeod, rider of ANIMATE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1100m., he allowed his mount to shift in at a stage when not clear of RAGNAR, thereby obliging that horse to shift in and in turn resulting in OUT BREAK being tightened on to COCKY CRUISER, which was severely checked. In this incident, COCKY CRUISER was also tightened on to the heels of CARBRECEL, which was hampered. R. McLeod was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 12 June, and to expire at midnight, 26 June 2002.

V. Caddy, rider of IDYLLIC DREAM, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the 1000m., he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of WYNGROVE, resulting in that hores being checked and in turn tightened on to CEFFYL, which was hampered. V. Caddy was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 15 June, and to expire at midnight, 27 June 2002. After being checked, WYNGROVE ran out across the heels of IDYLLIC DREAM, forcing ANIMATE wider on the track.

ANIMATE and OUTBREAK were forced to race wide in the middle stages.

As CEFFYL attempted to shift out around the heels of IDYLLIC DREAM near the 250m., IDYLIC DREAM shifted ground, which resulted in CEFFYL coming into contact with WYNGROVE, which in turn shifted out on to ANIMATE. RAGNAR, which was endeavouring to obtain clear running between ANIMATE and OUT BREAK, was checked at this stage.

Leaving the 200m., OUT BREAK was hampered when cramped for room by COCKY CRUISER, which was inclined to lay in under pressure.

A veterinary examination of IDYLLIC DREAM following the event revealed the gelding to suffering from the thumps.

RACE 3: CLUB CONRAD SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1400M.

Stewards permitted the late withdrawal of BRAVE ACTION at 10 a.m. on veterinary advice.

Prior to the start being effected, SHA ALMA became particularly fractious in the barriers. Subsequently, SHA ALMA was declared a late scratching at 1.28 p.m. acting on the advice of the club's veterinary surgeon, who reported that SHA ALMA was sore over the loins and near hind leg. On the announcement of correct weight, all monies invested on SHA ALMA were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 7 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior the withdrawal time. Trainer R. Maund was advised that SHA ALMA must pass a further barrier test prior to its next race start.

Due to the slow pace in the middle stages, HARRY'S MATE and BRIDLE HILL both tended to pull hard when racing wide.

On 2 occasions rounding the home turn, HARVEYNICKS made contact with BRIDLE HILL when endeavouring to shift out to obtain clear running.

When MONTESANTOS SPIRIT shifted out to obtain a run nearing the 300m., HARVEY NICKS was taken out on to BRIDLE HILL.

Inside the 100m., TELDAWN was obliged to alter course to the inside when disappointed for a run between LADY WITH THE LAMP and RUSSIAN CARAVAN.

RACE 4: SIR DOUGLAS WADLEY SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1200M.

COOLAYETI, which got its near hind leg caught over a rail in the tie-up stall area, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

Stewards permitted M. Gatt to forego his mount on the emergency runner KITNAT. A. Parramore was substituted as the rider of that filly.

STAGE REVUE, which collided with the Clerk of the Course' pony during the preliminary, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

PETRIA was slow to begin.

HUCKTOOIE jumped away awkwardly.

LA PECHE jumped away awkwardly and made contact with DANCING LOU and as a consequence lost ground.

KISS AN ANGEL and FELICITATE were forced extremely wide on the first turn.

Approaching the 200m., STAGE REVUE ran out on to the heels of POACHES LUCK and became awkward.

A. Parramore, rider of KITNAT, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in under pressure near the 100m., resulting in PETRIA being severely checked. A. Parramore was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 15 June and to expire at midnight, 27 June 2002.

From the entrance to the straight until after passing the 100m., SAYPHERE was held up and unable to obtain clear running.

HUCKTOOIE also experienced difficulty finding clear running in the straight.

RACE 5: CONRAD INTERNATIONAL LIGHTNING - 1000M.

As Z. Purton was to be half a kilogram overweight, M. Williamson was substituted as the rider of MISS MARTINDALE.

JILLINA BLUE and ALPINE EXPRESS were slow to begin.

BIGGE ISLE and ZOOFEAR also bumped at the start.

M. Rodd, rider of ALPINE EXPRESS, was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out approaching the 200m. when not clear of JILLINA BLUE, resulting in that horse being hampered.

J. Taylor, rider of BIGGE ISLE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 150m. he allowed his mount to shift in under pressure, resulting in MISS MARTINDALE, which had obtained a run to the inside of BIGGE ISLE, being checked. J. Taylor was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence immediately, and to expire at midnight, 22 June 2002.

RACE 6: THE T.J. SMITH SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1600M.

G. Colless, rider of AIR OF GRACE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he allowed his mount to shift in near the 1400m. when not clear of SIR BREAKFAST, resulting in that horse being taken in across the running of BLUR, which had to be checked.

G. Colless pleaded guilty to a further charge of careless riding, in that he continued to allow AIR OF GRACE to shift in at the 1300m., resulting in SIR BREAKFAST being tightened on to TEQUILA KNOWLEDGE and SOPRANA, both of which were severely hampered.

On each charge, G. Colless was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings. These penalties are to be served concurrently, commencing at midnight, 12 June, and to expire at midnight, Wednesday 26 June 2002.

B. Prebble, rider of LOVELY JUBLY, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1300m. he allowed his mount to shift in at a stage when not clear of BLUR, resulting in BLUR being checked and being tightened on to TIDE TURNER and HIGH MAINTENANCE, causing those horses to be hampered. B. Prebble was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 15 June, and to expire at midnight, 29 June 2002.

Passing the 1200m, LOVELY JUBLY commenced to overrace and improved up inside the heels of SIR BREAKFAST, which resulted in TEQUILA KNOWLEDGE being crowded for some distance.

When questioned, S. Baster stated that LASHED was left flatfooted when the pace quickened from the 600m., but otherwise he was unable to provide any explanation for the filly's disappointing performance. A veterinary examination of LASHED failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 7: TREASURY CASINO BRISBANE CUP - 3200M.

Jockey T. Jones, rider of SIMIGAN, was permitted to ride that gelding 1 kilogram overweight. As T. Jones had not previously been penalised for being overweight, a reprimand was issued.

On the first turn, BLANCHARD had to be restrained to avoid the heels of CITRA'S PRINCE, which shifted in when not clear. S. Baster, rider of CITRA'S PRINCE, was reprimanded in relation to this incident.

D. Nikolic, rider of HILL OF GRACE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, when it was determined that he allowed his mount to shift in at the 2900m. when not clear of MAJESTIC AVENUE, obliging that horse to shift in, resulting in GRAMPIANS being tightened on to DANYON, which was checked. D. Nikolic was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, with the penalty to commence immediately and to expire at midnight, 23 June 2002.

On the home turn, RESTLESS had to be checked when tightened for room between HEY PRONTO, which was taken in slightly by KAAPSTAD WAY, which had improved quickly to the outside of that horse, and PRIZED GEM, which shifted out. Stewards were satisfied that PRIZED GEM'S movement outwards had been influenced to some degree by NAUDERS, which was racing in advance of that horse.

When placed under pressure at the entrance to the straight, KAAPSTAD WAY shifted in slightly. At the same stage, SIMIGAN shifted out around the heels of FEED THE METER to obtain clear running, which caused a crowding to YUPPIE, LE DESTINA, PRIZED GEM and HEY PRONTO. Both D. Oliver, rider of KAAPSTAD WAY, and T. Jones, rider of SIMIGAN, were cautioned in relation to this incident.

A charge of careless issued against K. McEvoy, rider of MAJESTIC AVENUE, alleging that he allowed his mount to shift in under pressure at the 250m. causing interference to HILL OF GRACE was not sustained. After hearing relevant submissions, stewards extended the benefit of the doubt to K. McEvoy on the basis that KREISLER MIRAGE, which was racing to the inside of HILL OF GRACE, may have shifted out slightly when endeavouring to maintain clear running to the outside of KAAPSTAD WAY, which also shifted slightly.

RACE 8: MARCO POLO H'CAP - 1600M.

Due to a misunderstanding, G. Cooksley, who is currently serving a careless riding suspension, was declared as the rider of MABUZ. D. Nikolic was substituted as the rider of that gelding.

NAS PRINCESS was a late withdrawal at 8.15 a.m..

ADAMANTLY was a little slow to begin.

When cramped for room by SIR KINDLE, which shifted in approaching the 1200m., HUGE DEMAND had to be steadied and also cramped BRAVE PRINCE on to the running rail. HIRSCHBERG, which was following HUGE DEMAND, also had to be steadied.

At the 250m., THE KILDARE KID was obliged to shift away around the heels of ADAMANTLY when disappointed for a run inside that horse. THE KILDARE KID was then impeded for some distance between ADAMANTLY and LORD OF THE PINES.

HUGE DEMAND was held up for clear running until after leaving the 200m.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
