WEATHER – FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL – IN TRUE POSITION
FROM BTC MEETING 28.12.02: Trainer J. Hearne confirmed a conversation that he had had with veterinary surgeon Dr F. Manahan relating to RANGERS' recovery rate after competing at Doomben on 28 December 2002 and agreed with that assessment. Mr Hearne advised that whilst RANGERS had missed two days work due to the Dalby track being closed because of inclement weather, the horse had subsequently worked well leading up to the start on the 28th and he had expected the horse to perform bearing in mind that it had been in work for a number of months and had had a solid preparation for the event. Mr Hearne was clearly of the view that RANGERS was not suited to the rain-affected track on that day and in future he would refrain from starting the horse on similar types of tracks. His explanations were noted.
