KISS ME ALL OVER was very slow to begin. Trainer R. Macrae was advised that a warning was being placed on KISS ME ALL OVER as a consequence of its tardiness.

ACTIVE COMBAT and COUNT IVOR also lost some ground at the start after jumping away awkwardly.

Approaching the home turn, KISS ME ALL OVER had to be steadied after attempting to improve inside the heels of DAME NOVA, which at this stage was laying out. COUNT IVOR, which was following, had to be checked off the heels of KISS ME ALL OVER and shifted out, cramping NOBLEMAN'S FANCY.

After being loaded, DOGALL'S LUCK became very fractious in the barriers and reared up, resulting in its rider, K. Yoshida, suffering facial injuries. As a consequence of the injuries he sustained in this incident, K. Yoshida was unable to fulfil his engagement, therefore DOOGALL'S LUCK was withdrawn at 1.02 p.m.. On the announcement of correct weight, all monies invested on DOOGALL'S LUCK were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of win and place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. RED CHIP - R. Hurley.

Shortly after the start, TELDAWN had to be checked when tightened for room between ECTASY, which shifted in slightly, and BOMBAY SAPPHIRE, which shifted out after being bumped by PRINCE CLANG.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of TELDAWN in relation to her most recent start on 21 September, trainer T. Joseph indicated that towards the end of its last preparation, the mare's form had tapered off and that she had experienced some physical problems He indicated that following a spell TELDAWN had performed well in 2 recent jumpouts, including a second to Treviscay. He indicated that in light of this, connections were reasonably confident of a forward showing in today's event and that they had supported TELDAWN only moderately. This explanation was accepted.

SADDLE BOY returned to scale with blood in its mouth as a result of a lacerated gum.

He indicated that due to the slow early pace, LITTLE MADAME raced more prominently than he had intended and that the mare also did not relish racing between other runners. S.
