QLD TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT MON 10.03.03

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 10M. ALL TRACK


RACE 1: GAY ICARUS H'CAP - 1000M.

THE MOOPS was slow to begin.

Near the 900m., MORE THAN GOLD had to be steadied when tightened for room between RERUN, which shifted out, and TAHITIAN AFFAIR, which shifted in. A. Spiteri, rider of TAHITIAN AFFAIR, was reprimanded and advised to be 2 lengths clear in future when shifting ground.

RERUN, which was obliged to race wide throughout the event, had to be steadied after leaving the 600m. to avoid the heels of NEVER SAID A WORD.

In the early stages of the straight, MEMPHIS EXPRESS had difficulty obtaining clear running, and near the 100m. had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MR LISTER, which shifted in.


RACE 2:BORE HEAD H'CAP - 1200M.

Shortly after the start, CROWN SILVER bucked. On return to the enclosure, CROWN SILVER was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon who reported that the filly was slightly shin sore in both forelegs. Trainer R. Maund was advised CROWN SILVER must trial satisfactorily in an official trial prior to its next race start.

OUR SHADOW was slow to begin.

NATURALLY JANE shifted in abruptly on jumping away, taking BEST APPEAL in on to PUSH MY BUTTONS.

FRENCH TERROR raced greenly throughout the event.


RACE 3: MING DYNASTY H'CAP - 1600M.

Trainer G. Ryan was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for ST. MALO by the required time.

Trainer H Wilson was also find $50 for the late declaration of D. Tanti as the rider of THE AWESOME CHANCE.

Trainer D. Sutton's explanation for the late declaration of rider for HYSTERICAL BOSS was accecpted.

ST. MALO was slow to begin.

After leaving the 1400m., THE AWESOME CHANCE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of AQUA LEONE, and in doing so shifted in and made contact with ST. MALO. C. Reith, rider of AQUA LEONE, was reprimanded and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground.

Near the 800m., ST. MALO shifted in and brushed the running rail and lost ground.

THE AWESOME CHANCE made the crossing awkwardly, then shortly after was taken wider on the track by QUEST FOR LIGHT, which shifted out to improve.


RACE 4: LORD DUDLEY H'CAP - 1200M.
.
LORD MAPLE was slow to begin.

MILLITINSKY'S SON jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

J. Powell, rider of FUN ADDICT, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that he permitted his mount to shift in approaching the first turn when not clear of NORTH ANCHOR, resulting in NORTH ANCHOR clipping the heels of FUN ADDICT and blundering. J. Powell was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 15 March, and to expire at midnight, 27 March 2003. Following this incident, MILLITINSKY'S SON had to be checked to avoid the heels of NORTH ANCHOR.

Passing the 800m., FUN ADDICT had to be restrained off the heels of SUCCESS ON US.

At the entrance to the straight, SUCCESS ON US shifted out shortly after entering the straight, resulting in FUN ADDICT being hampered when taken out on to the hind quarters of TEAKER'S BLUE STAR.

Approaching the 200m., REDSHANK shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of the tiring ROYAL DREAMER.

M. Cahill was fined $100 for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram over his declared riding weight.


RACE 5:NGAWYNI H'CAP - 1800M.

BRAVE TATTLER and DIOCLES jumped away awkwardly.

SHOW MARTIAL was slow to begin.

Near the 1600m., PAPA'S DREAM had to be restrained to avoid the heels of CESELTIAL CHORUS, which shifted in.

At the 1400m., PAPA'S DREAM then commenced to pull hard and shifted out, resulting in KENMONT being checked when taken out across the heels of LYNCHIE. PAPA'S DREAM continued to pull hard for some distance.

At the entrance to the straight, BOSPORUS shifted out to improve from behind the heels of TYCOON JESTER and forced LYNCHIE wider on the track.


RACE 6:VO ROGUE H'CAP - 1800M.

AULD HAT was disappointed for a run to the inside of HELLIE MISSED approaching the 200m..


RACE 7: DULCIFY H'CAP - 1300M.

SPICY BELLE was slow to begin.

Near the 1100m., AINE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of OUR BELLAVITA, which was taken in by MACAROONS. C. Reith, rider of MACAROONS, was severely reprimanded and advised to be 2 lengths clear when shifting ground.


RACE 8: BONECRUSHER H'CAP - 1300M.

FLASHBORNE jumped awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with the hind quarters of ELECT A SONG.

ZULU WARRIOR also jumped away awkwardly.



ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
