WEATHER – FINE TRACK - DEAD RAIL – TRUE POSITION
RACE 1: IGP PRINT H'CAP – 2100M
For some distance approaching the 200m CLASSIC KARLA was held up behind ARTIQUE and KING LEO, both of which were tiring.
RACE 2: JOHN FOOTE QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP – 1200M
PROMOTED jumped away awkwardly and lost ground at the start.
TRANSFIX also lost ground at the start after being tightened for room between GAL EXPRESS and STAR TRIPPER.
INDARAMA had a tendency to race greenly in the early and middle stages and passing the 700m shifted out abruptly off the heels of CAMBOOYA.
A veterinary examination of GAL EXPRESS, which weakened in the straight, failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 3: HARDY BROTHERS JEWELLERS H'CAP – 1400M
NOR NOVA raced wide in the early and middle stages.
MARMADAMAH tended to race ungenerously in the middle stages.
RACE 4: FRED BROWN H'CAP – 1600M
Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight FOSCAT was held up and unable to improve.
SACRA CLAUSE was also held up for clear running from the entrance to the straight until nearing the 200m.
RACE 5: ANDREW DOUGLAS H'CAP – 1000M
YOUTHFUL, which suffered an attack of colic, was withdrawn at 8.30 a.m. acting on veterinary advice.
GRANLASSUE was also scratched on veterinary advice at 9.40 a.m. after suffering a stone bruise.
Trainer P. Nolan was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for MISTER OMEGA by the prescribed time.
Soon after the start DAMIGOS was hampered when cramped for room between FEDERAL AGENT and GUNS ABLAZE which shifted out.
At the 700m BUTCH WESTON had to be steadied when placed in restricted room between EHORSE and SUNDIAL, both of which shifted ground slightly.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GO ERROL, apprentice C. Eaton stated that the gelding was never travelling well at any stage of the event and failed to run on as anticipated. A veterinary examination of GO ERROL failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken from the gelding.
RACE 6: TATTERSALL'S MEMBERS' CUP – 1600M
FEED THE METER lost its off fore plate during the preliminary. The near fore plate was subsequently removed by the Club's farrier prior to the start.
After leaving the barriers DIRECTOR'S SPECIAL threw its head up and then veered abruptly to the outside, dislodging its rider K. Yoshida. Trainer R. Lipp was advised that DIRECTOR'S SPECIAL must pass an official barrier trial prior to its next race start.
After travelling a short distance FUTURE FORCE shifted out resulting in THE KILDARE KID and AWESOME WEATHER both being severely hampered.
When attempting a run between FUTURE FORCE and MIDNIGHT WARRIOR near the 200m, REGAL TYCOON was impeded for some distance due to MIDNIGHT WARRIOR shifting in slightly under pressure.
RACE 7: CARLTON DRAUGHT H'CAP – 1400M
IDEALISTIC, RENAZZO and SLEEK ALI were slow to begin.
HASS LINC pulled extremely hard in the early and middle stages when racing wide.
At the 1100m ECSTASY brushed the running rail when placed in restricted room inside the heels of THE WRECK.
Over the final 100m ECSTASY was impeded for a run between BUNDEENA BOY and POLENTA which shifted out slightly under pressure.
RACE 8: HAMILTON HOTEL QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP – 1200M
Trainer J. Atkins was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for KISS AN ANGEL by the prescribed time.
KISS AN ANGEL, which was kicked in the near shoulder, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
After travelling a short distance CROWN REGATTA commenced to buck and lost its prominent position. Trainer L. Birchley will be advised that CROWN REGATTA must pass an official barrier trial prior to its next race start.
KISS AN ANGEL was obliged to race wide in the middle stages.
Passing the 400m PAPER KINGS made contact with the running rail when securing a narrow run to the inside of KING'S REQUEST.
When questioned G. Colless stated that PENOLA was ridden back in the field due to its awkward gate. He added that the gelding was inclined to pull a little during the early and middle stages and was also inclined to lay out. He stated further that when urged to go forward from near the 600m crossing, PENOLA initially responded, however was a beaten horse upon straightening and thereafter only plodded to the line. A veterinary examination of PENOLA failed to reveal any abnormality.
ALL WINNERS AND GO ERROL WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
