G. Colless was questioned concerning the disappointing performance of THRONG. He stated that the gelding had travelled well and on a couple of occasions after leaving the 700m. had shifted in and brushed the running rail, however after leaving the crossing, the gelding was under pressure. G. Colless added that as THRONG had raced on 3 consecutive Saturdays, he was of the opinion that this may have had a bearing on today's performance.

K. Yoshida was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 21 July, and to expire at midnight, 3 August 2003. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account K. Yoshida's good race riding record.
