Approaching the 100m., DANE'S JESTER improved to the inside of POWER AND GOLD and as a result tightened the running of TORNADO ALLEY. Shortly after leaving the 100m., G. Boss was obliged to check TORNADO ALLEY when the gelding shifted away from DANE'S JESTER.

Over the concluding stages, SAHARA JAY shifted in and bumped POWER AND GOLD.

Beadman, rider of SECRET GIFT, was cautioned and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straight his mount.

RACE 5: BORRELLI AT JOE RICHARDS Q.T.C. CUP - 1200M.

Prior to the race, BOMBER BILL was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to race.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by S. Galloway, rider of the 2nd placegetter, FALKIRK, against PATPONG being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 400m.. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the official video, stewards found that FALKIRK had to be checked near the 400m. to avoid the heels of PATPONG, which shifted out when insufficiently clear, resulting in FALKIRK making contact with PROUDLY AGRO. Stewards were off the opinion that the ground lost by FALKIRK in this incident exceeded the margin between FALKIRK and PATPONG at the finish, and therefore the objection was upheld and the Judge's placings amended to read: No. 2 - FALKIRK - 1st; No. 8 - PATPONG - 2nd; No. 1 - BOMBER BILL - 3RD. At a subsequent inquiry, C. Munce, rider of PATPONG, was found guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of FALKIRK near the 400m., resulting in that horse being checked and taken out on to PROUDLY AGRO. C. Munce was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 9 meetings, to commence at midnight, 10 June, and to expire at midnight, 26 June. C. Munce was also fined the sum of $2000.

Approaching the 400m., LORDS A LEAPING and GENIUS AND EVIL made contact, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.

G. Boss, rider of STAR SHIRAZ, was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out making the home turn, taking the tiring GROSVENOR GATE out on to SHILO. GENIUS AND EVIL, which was following, had to be eased to avoid the heels of GROSVENOR GATE. GENIUS AND EVIL was then held up for clear running until the 250m..

SHILO and MAGIC PINS were both obliged to race wide throughout the event.

S. Seamer reported that, in his opinion, GOLDEN FOX was showing signs that it may have come to the end of its current preparation even though the gelding travelled well throughout the event. A veterinary examination of GOLDEN FOX failed to reveal any abnormality. Trainer T. Whittington confirmed that GOLDEN FOX would now be spelled after today's event.

RACE 8: ACTION INTERNATIONAL P.J. O'SHEA STAKES - 2400M.

McLeod, rider of MAZE, was cautioned and advised to provide more clearance when crossing. S. Seamer, rider of THE MIGHTY LIONS, was severely reprimanded for instigating the tightening to NAUDERS, DOUBLE EL AITCH and LAWLER.

Rounding the home turn, ANOTHER WARRIOR shifted out to improve and made contact with THE SECONDMORTGAGE.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.

GENERAL: Following race 8, a complaint was lodged by betting supervisor Mr R. O'Toole against bookmaker Mr L. Gallagher in that prior to the last event, L. Gallagher failed to provide betting information as requested by Mr O'Toole. After taking evidence from both parties, stewards took no action due to the conflicting nature of the evidence. Mr Gallagher was however advised that should a reasonable request be made by a betting supervisor to himself for information, he had an obligation to comply with such request.
