GENERAL: As S. Katsidis was indisposed, the following riding replacements were approved:

RACE 1: QUEENSLAND WEEK H'CAP – 1200M
At the entrance to the straight SUMMER FABLE was hampered when tightened for room between SHE'S SWAN LAKE and DANE SHAKIRA which shifted out.
In the early stages of the straight DANE SHAKIRA had difficulty obtaining clear running. Z. Purton, the rider of DANE SHAKIRA, reported that DANE SHAKIRA was also inclined to hang in.
Near the 150m PROPHET JEWEL shifted out abruptly when struck with the whip.
Near the 100m WINNING FRIENDS had to be checked to avoid the heels of the tiring ROYAL SHIRAZ.
When questioned regarding the performance of HURRICANE PERI, apprentice G. McKeon stated that after restraining the filly in the early stages to seek cover, HURRICANE PERI was reluctant to race and was under pressure prior to the home turn. He indicated that connections may be considering spelling the filly.
A veterinary examination KAI CHOW failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 2: AMBASSADOR TRAVEL QTIS H'CAP – 1200M
CONTEMPORARY was slow to begin.
On jumping away ENCIERRO shifted in abruptly and brushed the running rail.
RHYME ROYAL shifted out on jumping away, taking BLACK SUIT out on to CHUT. LANG PARK was also hampered in this incident.
WILLY LEICA jumped away awkwardly and then was inclined to buck. The racing manners of WILLY LEICA will be brought to the attention of trainer A. Bailey.
N. Tomizawa, the rider of CRAFTY KING, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BLACK SUIT, resulting in BLACK SUIT being taken in and tightening the running of RHYME ROYAL, GENERAL PATTON and ADMIRAL SPY, causing BLACK SUIT to be checked to avoid the heels of CRAFTY KING. N. Tomizawa was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 16 June, and expire at midnight on Friday, 2 July.
HEAVENLY CRUISE and CONTEMPORARY were both obliged to race wide throughout the event.
GENERAL PATTON was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
Near the 250m ADMIRAL SPY shifted out to improve from behind the heels of ENCIERRO, making contact with CRAFTY KING which in turn shifted out inconveniencing KANETOSHI MILLIONS.
G. Boss, the rider of LANG PARK, was charged with careless riding in that near the 200m he permitted his mount to shift out taking BLACK SUIT out on to CONTEMPORARY, which was taken across the heels of HEAVENLY CRUISE, resulting in CONTEMPORARY having to be checked. The matter was adjourned until Monday, 14 June.
CLATTER AND CLANG, which finished a distant last, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon who reported that he could find no abnormalities.
RACE 3: EMIRATES SPRINT – 1000M
Trainer J. Wallace and apprentice G. McKeon requested permission for SOVEREIGN EXPRESS to be declared a non-runner as they were of the opinion that SOVEREIGN EXPRESS had reared prior to the start being effected. Stewards denied the request as they were of the opinion that SOVEREIGN EXPRESS had reared as the start was effected, losing considerable ground, and was therefore declared a runner.
ORDER ARMS and RAUTAI'S WARRIOR were also slow to begin.
After leaving the 600m CANADIAN TIME commenced to hang out, taking MR CHEVY wider on the track.
ORDER ARMS was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
RACE 4: WINNING EDGE PRESENTATIONS H'CAP – 1200M
SPINARDO jumped away awkwardly.
POTTER jumped away awkwardly and shifted in hampering NIP OF SPIRIT.
HELTER SKELTER shifted out on jumping away and made contact with NIP OF SPIRIT.
MIXADAD was slow to begin.
LUST FOR VICTORY shifted in approaching the 1000m, tightening POTTER, PICARDI RUN, SPINARDO and WRITTEN JOURNEY which had to be steadied.
Making the first turn TELEGRAND had to be steadied when tightened for room by MITANNI which was taken in by SPINARDO.
KING'S COUP was obliged to race wide throughout.
MIXADAD shifted in and brushed the running rail near the 500m.
Apprentice C. Spry, rider of KING'S COUP, reported that his whip became entangled in the horse's mane.
WRITTEN JOURNEY shifted out to improve near the 250m, making contact with MITANNI.
Approaching the 100m MITANNI, after being bumped by WRITTEN JOURNEY on the hind quarters, shifted in tightening WRITTEN JOURNEY on to the hind quarters of DODGING.
RACE 5: JONES LANG LASALLE H'CAP – 1500M
AWESOME WARRIOR was obliged to race wide throughout.
REGAL PUNCH was held up for clear running near the 200m between SAM'S DREAM and the tiring PENETRATOR.
A veterinary examination KIWI SURVEILLANCE which finished a distant last failed to reveal any abnormalities.
RACE 6: BMW QUEENSLAND DERBY – 2400M
WINNING BELLE reared as the gates opened and lost considerable ground.
CUT THE CAKE was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start LISTEN PAL shifted out taking DEVASTATING out on to WAITOKI DREAM.
L. Cassidy, the rider of SET UP, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that approaching the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in, tightening the running of RUSSIAN PEARL and CUT THE CAKE, resulting in CUT THE CAKE having to be checked passing the winning post. RED HOT PEPPER, which was following CUT THE CAKE, had to be checked severely to avoid that horse's heels and shifted out causing VICTORY HIGHWAY to be checked and WAITOKI DREAM to be forced wider on the track. L. Cassidy was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 16 June, and expire at midnight on Friday, 2 July. In addition, L. Cassidy was fined the sum of $2,000.
Near the 1900m FINDER PAGE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of LISTEN PAL which shifted in slightly. PLEASE SHINE, which was racing to that horse's inside, brushed the running rail at that stage and shifted out and hampered TOULOUSE LAUTREC.
Turning out of the straight on the first occasion KING LATARMISS was tightened by DEVASTATING which shifted in.
RECLAIM was obliged to race wide throughout.
ACTION SHOT shifted out abruptly approaching the crossing.
Approaching the 500m DEVASTATING shifted out to improve, taking RECLAIM and WAITOKI DREAM wider on the track.
Near the 500m RUSSIAN PEARL clipped the heels of PLEASE SHINE and blundered and then shifted out taking SET UP and CUT THE CAKE wider on the track, which resulted in MOON ECHO and RECLAIM having to be checked when taken out on to WAITOKI DREAM.
Making the home turn ROMAN THUNDER had to be steadied off the heels of the tiring KAYEZED and shifted out making contact with KING LATARMISS, which shifted out and brushed TOULOUSE LAUTREC.
QUITE ASTUTE shifted out when tiring making the home turn, enabling WINNING BELLE to improve quickly to its inside. PLEASE SHINE, which was following QUITE ASTUTE, had to be checked at that stage.
For some distance in the early stages of the straight ROMAN THUNDER was held up and unable to improve behind the tiring KAYEZED.
Near the 350m KING LATARMISS had to be checked to avoid the heels of the tiring KAYEZED when taken in slightly by TOULOUSE LAUTREC.
The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that VICTORY HIGHWAY sustained lacerations and bruising to the inside of both knees.
RACE 7: AAMI STRADBROKE – 1400M
N. Harris was fined $200 for being overweight on FALKIRK.
ST. BASIL was slow to begin.
FALKIRK jumped away awkwardly and made contact with ANCIENT SONG.
Shortly after the start FALKIRK was tightened for room between ANCIENT SONG and SEDECREM which shifted out.
At the 1250m OUR EGYPTIAN RAINE shifted out taking GORDO out on to SEDECREM which in turn took FALKIRK out on to RECURRING.
Making the first turn FORUM FLOOZIE shifted in taking BOMBER BILL in on to RECURRING which made contact with GORDO which hit the running rail and became unbalanced. THORN PARK, which was following, had to be steadied in this incident.
When the pace steadied passing the 1000m OUR EGYPTIAN RAINE got its head up and raced ungenerously and shifted out near the 900m resulting in ANCIENT SONG having to be checked and taken out on to BRITT'S BEST. RECURRING, which was following, had to be checked and shifted out causing FALKIRK to shift out abruptly to avoid the heels of RECURRING. KING'S CHAPEL was taken wider on the track by FALKIRK in this incident.
Near the 800m, when regaining its position closer to the inside, FALKIRK shifted in tightening the running of SCAREDEE CAT.
KING'S CHAPEL, MAKE MINE MAGIC and TRUE GLO were obliged to race wide throughout the event.
Making the home turn FALKIRK shifted out and made contact with MAKE MINE MAGIC.
Shortly after entering the straight SCAREDEE CAT had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CONSULAR which shifted out. SCAREDEE CAT then had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 200m.
C. Brown, the rider of GORDO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that after leaving the 300m he permitted his mount to shift in, taking ANCIENT SONG in on to SEDECREM, which had improved to ANCIENT SONG's inside, resulting in SEDECREM having to be checked. C. Brown was suspended for a period of 10 meetings to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 16 June and expire at midnight on Sunday, 4 July. In addition, C. Brown was fined the sum of $2,000.
The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that MAKE MINE MAGIC sustained a small laceration as a result of being kicked on the outside of the near hind cannon after the event.
RACE 8: SEPPELT EAGLE FARM STAKES - 2212M
After passing the 1600m DIAMOND HILL commenced to pull hard and had to be restrained off the heels of TELL SOMEONE.
Near the 900m BEAVER had to be checked off the heels of BRANSON and in doing so shifted out causing GREAT ANNA to be checked.
Near the 200m GREAT ANNA shifted in and made contact with TELL SOMEONE, taking that horse in on to COMFORTS.
BEAVER had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
