SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS

As G. Colless was injured and S. Galloway ill, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.


Race 1: Claret QTIS 2yo H'cap - 1600m.
1st - Cool Scene 2nd - Prend 3rd - Englobo 4th - Our Monague

S. Katsidis (JACHAZE) was fined $100 for failing to weigh out by the prescribed time.

After weighing out, the connections of JACHAZE requested S. Katsidis add a breastplate to the gear. As S. Katsidis could not make the weight when re-weighed with the breastplate, he was replaced by C. Spry.

When parading, K, Pope was injured when dislodged from ENGLOBO. K. Pope was ruled out by the club's doctor and as there was no senior rider available, he was replaced by J. McKinnon, who claimed 2 kilograms.

CARIBBEAN COAST was a late scratching at 12.07 p.m..when the horse refused to proceed to the barriers. The connections of CARIBBEAN COAST were advised that the horse must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

MODHESH was a late scratching at 12.10 p.m. when the horse could not be loaded. The connections of MODHESH were advised that they must produce a barrier test certificate for that gelding before its next start.

Following the withdrawal of CARIBBEAN COAST at 12.07 p.m.., all monies invested on that horse were ordered to be refunded in full and deductions of 9 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 10 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets applied. Following the withdrawal of MODHESH at 12.10 p.m. stewards ordered that all monies invested on that horse be refunded, and all bets placed after the withdrawal of CARIBBEAN COAST at 12.07 p.m. be subject to deductions of 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets.

PREND (A. Pattillo) and JACHAZE (C. Spry) were hampered on jumping away between OUR MONTAGUE (M. Cahill) and ENGLOBO (J. McKinnon), which shifted out.

Approaching the 1000m., GOLDEN POINT (K. Cunningham) commenced to overrace and had to be steadied off the heels of JACHAZE.

After passing the 500m., GOLDEN POINT shifted out and made contact with HOPESON.

JACHAZE was forced to race wide in the middle stages.


Race 2: Conrad Treasury Brisbane Class 6 H'cap - 1600m.
1st - Woldman 2nd - Navarro 3rd - Argyle Lass 4th - Jimmy The Bear

ARGYLE LASS (B. Stewart) was hampered on jumping away between JIMMY THE BEAR (P. Hammersley) and LUST FOR VICTORY (A. Pattillo), both of which shifted ground. A short distance later, LUST FOR VICTORY continued to shift out, making contact with ARGYLE LASS, which in turn shifted out and made contact with JIMMY THE BEAR.

NAVARRO (J. Byrne) jumped inwards at the start, inconveniencing ATRIUMS (M. Cahill).

Leaving the 1200m., UNION RULE (C. Spry) commenced to overace and approaching the 1000m. shifted out off the heels of GET IT GOOD (N. Jolly), taking WOLFMAN (T.Pannell) wider on the track.

In the early stages of the straight, ARGYLE LASS was momentarily held up for clear running.

Approaching the 200m., ATRIUMS (M. Cahill) had to be steadied when placed in restricted room between SEA ARTIST (B. Pengelly), which shifted in, and GET IT GOOD, which shifted out.

ARGENTERIE (A. Parramore) was forced to race wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ATRIUMS, trainer's representative M. Hawkes advised that in his opinion the horse may have raced a little closer to the lead due to its good barrier and felt that the horse may be better suited coming from back in the field. A veterinary examination of ATRIUMS revealed no abnormalities.

A veterinary examination of IMAGE OF REALITY revealed the horse to be suffering from respiratory distress. Trainer T. Hewitt undertook to have the horse scoped and indicated he would notify stewards of the results of those tests. A swab sample was taken from IMAGE OF REALITY.

Race 3: Racetree QTIS 3yo Class 6 H'cap - 1400m.
1st - Step Right In 2nd - Aim So High 3rd - Loughnan 4th - Gang

HOUSE OF WOODWIND (A. Parramore) was slow to begin.

DECIBEEL (G. Palmer) jumped away awkwardly.

YOUR LION EYES (J. McKinnon) jumped out at the start, making contact with DECIBEEL.

A short distance after the start, FROTTAGE (B. Stewart) was tightened between NAVAJO CODE (A. Merritt) and SCREAMING HALO (C. Spry), which shifted in.

Approaching the 1200m., FROTTAGE had to be eased off the heels of LOUGHNAN (M. Cahill), which was inclined to lay in.

SCREAMING HALO was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of DECIBEEL, G. Palmer stated that the horse never travelled well and was under pressure in the vicinity of the crossing, and when asked for an effort in the straight, DECIBEEL failed to respond to his riding. G. Palmer added that in his opinion the horse was not striding properly and felt that the horse may have some form of soreness. A veterinary examination of DECIBEEL revealed no abnormality, however the veterinary surgeon reported that the horse's recovery rate was slow.


Race 4: QRSE Exhibition Week 1mw Last Year H'cap - 1800m.
1st - Desert Flight 2nd - Bohemian Dancer 3rd - Hello Possums 4th - Motivate

Trainer D. Lane was fined $100 for the late declaration of J. McKinnon as the rider of LAMBRETTA.

LAMBRETTA (J. McKinnon) missed the start.

In the vicinity of the 1300m, the saddle on COUNTER AGENT (B. Pengelly) shifted forward, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race. As a result of the saddle shifting forward, B. Pengally removed both feet from the irons.

A veterinary examination of SMART CHARIOT, which appeared to be disappointing, revealed the horse to be lame in the off fore leg, and had injured both bumpers. Trainer L. Ross agreed that the horse was disappointing and he would recommend to the owners that the horse be spelled.

Race 5: Network Ten H'cap NMW - 1500m.
1st - He's So Cheeky 2nd - Gazzam 3rd - Tearinupthecountry 4th - Hamah

A protest lodged by M. Smith-Lester, rider of the 4th placegetter, HAMAH, against GAZZAM (P. Hammersley) being declared 2nd, alleging interference at the top of the straight was dismissed. In dismissing the protest, stewards were of the opinion that whilst GAZZAM had shifted out to improve and made contact with HAMAH, and then shifted ground near the 300m., and stewards were not satisfied that the incident warranted a reversal of the Judge's placings, taking into account the margins which separated both horses at the finish.

PERETTE (B. Stewart) was slow to begin.

After travelling a short distance, NEW YORK NEW YORK (J. McKinnon) commenced to lay out, making heavy contact with the hind quarters of TEARINUPTHECOUNTRY (M. Cahill), which had to be checked off the heels of IN SHANGHAI (G. Palmer).

IN SHANGHAI was obliged to race wide throughout.

EBONY LAD had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Approaching the 200m., DIAGON DUCHESS (C. Spry), which was inclined to shift ground, inconvenienced THORPE (S. Katsidis). DIAGON DUCHESS again shifted ground leaving the 100m. and hampered THORPE.


Race 6: Ascot H'cap - 1400m.
1st - Consular 2nd - Show Biz Kid 3rd - Grandway Shogun 4th - Lamond

Stewards acceded to a request from the connections of GORDO for apprentice T. Pannell to replaced the injured K. Pope.

As there was no replacement rider available, stewards acceded to a request from the connections of AU CHOCOLAT for A. Pattillo to ride that mare half a kilogram overweight. A. Pattillo was fined the sum of $100 for being overweight.

GRAB THE PHONE (C. Spry) jumped in at the start, making heavy contact with CONSULAR (J. Byrne).

KREISLER'S JEWEL (N. Jolly) was slow to begin.

Near the 1300m., GRAB THE PHONE was inclined to shift in and away from YOUTHFUL (B. Stewart), which resulted in SHOW BIZ KID having to be steadied.

Approaching the 800m., YOUTHFUL (B. Stewart) shifted away from the rails, taking SHOW BIZ KID out three wide. SHOW BIZ KID then raced three wide for the remainder of the race.

When questioned as to the disappointing performance of MITANNI, G. McKeon stated that his instructions were to progress forward after the start in an effort to race either in the lead or outside the leader. He stated that after obtaining a position outside GRAB THE PHONE, MITANNI was inclined to lay in and then commenced to race keenly, and G. McKeon elected to allow the horse to progress forward to cross GRAB THE PHONE. G. McKeon added that leaving the crossing he felt that the horse was travelling well, however on straightening when asked for an effort, the horse failed to respond to his riding and did not finish the race off as anticipated. He further stated that the horse was rather distressed on pulling up after the race. Trainer J. Wallace also expressed his disappointment with the performance but was satisfied with the riding of the horse, and was of the opinion that something was amiss with MITANI, and indicated to the inquiry that he would have the horse scoped when it returns to its stables. A veterinary examination of MITANNI failed to reveal any abnormality.



Race 7: QRSE Gallipoli Research Foundation H'cap - 1000m.
1st - Imprisoned 2nd - Shysu 3rd - Zoe's Lad 4th - Algorithm

Stewards acceded to a request from the connections of KATABATIC for G. McKeon to replace the injured K. Pope as the rider of that horse due to there being no suitable jockey available at the time.

ALGORITHM (J. Byrne) jumped inwards at the start, making contact with RAUTAI'S WARRIOR (P. Hammersley).

KATABATIC (G. McKeon) blundered shortly after the start.

Leaving the 400m., LION SAFARI (B. Pengelly) shifted out to improve and made contact ALGORITHM (J. Byrne).

Passing the 200m., MALTA (S. Katsidis) had to be eased to avoid the heels of ALGORITHM, which shifted in under pressure. J. Byrne, rider of ALGORITHM, was reminded of his obligation to keep his mounts straight.


Race 8: XXXX Gold Class 6 H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Murray Downs 2nd - Countess Bathory 3rd - Twanged 4th - St Nicco

COUNTESS BATHORY (R. McMahon) jumped in the air and missed the start.

SIR WOODY (T.Pannell) was caught wide after the start and was obliged to race wide throughout the race.

At the 800m., the saddle on SAN FRANFRISCO (L. Fyfe) shifted forward, placing L. Fyfe at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

Approaching the 150m., TWANGED (S. Katsidis) was disappointed for a run between ASIMBA (K. Cunningham) and CANADIAN SHUFFLE (A. Merritt) and had to shift out around the heels of CANADIAN SHUFFLE and ST NICCO (J. McKinnon) to gain clear running.

Near the 100m., CASUAL CHICK (J. Byrne) was tightened for room between YUBI (M. Cahill), which was inclined to shift in, and MURRAY DOWNS (N. Jolly), which shifted out. N. Jolly, rider of MURRAY DOWNS, and M. Cahill, rider of YUBI, were cautioned and advised to take greater measures to keep their mounts straight.

YUBI (M. Cahill) was obliged to race 3 wide for the majority of the race.

A veterinary examination of COUNTES BATHORY following the event revealed the mare to have dislodged a incisor tooth cap.
