SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Stewards received an application from trainer L. Ross on behalf of apprentice D. Peisley that apprentice Peisley be awarded the winning or losing riding fee as he believed he had a firm engagement on SILKY RED BOXER in Race 8. After receiving submissions from trainer L. Ross and trainer Mr C. Waller, stewards ordered that apprentice D. Peisley be entitled to any winning or losing riding fee including percentage.

Race 1: SEPPELT WINES QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1600M
1st – Alberts Return 2nd – Grand Reve 3rd – Tayrhiana 4th – Prey For Peace

O’CALLAHERN (S. Katsidis) was slow to begin.

LEGES OPINIO (S. Seamer) was forced to race wide in the early stages.

Passing the 1200m COTTON FINGERS (J. Bowditch) was inclined to overrace.

Approaching the 300m ALBERTS RETURN (B. Stewart), which was inclined to lay in, shifted in and brushed LEGES OPINIO.

PREY FOR PEACE (R. Mason) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Race 2: CONRAD TREASURY BRISBANE H’CAP – 1600M
1st – Bikkie Tin Blues 2nd – Chasin’ Tail 3rd – Listen Pal 4th – Radar O’Reilly
BACKSTAGE GIRL was examined behind the barriers by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

In the early stages of the event DOWN TO EARTH (M. Morris) commenced to overrace.

The saddle on DOWN TO EARTH shifted forward near the 1200m, placing M. Morris at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. A swab sample was taken from DOWN TO EARTH following a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities.

A post-race veterinary examination of DARKSIDE LASS failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 3: NETWORK TEN 0MW H’CAP – 1400M
1st – Feelin Dandy 2nd - Regimental 3rd – Muscle Up 4th - Buzz

REGIMENTAL (A. Pattillo) was slow to begin.

CATFISH (R. Mason) was forced to race wide throughout.

Near the 650m MERV’S WISH ran up on to the heels of FISSILE (S. Drake) and had to be steadied.

Passing the 400m CATFISH had to be checked when tightened for room between MERV’S WISH (App. M. Morris) and CIRCUS MAXIMUS (J. Morris) which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.

BRIGALOW SCRUB returned to the enclosure with blood in its near nostril. Trainer B. Strong’s stable representative was advised that the horse must gallop 1000 metres in front of stewards prior to its next start.

The Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that FISSILE sustained a small laceration to the outside of the near hock.

Race 4: XXXX GOLD PLATE – 1200M
1st – Spur Me On 2nd - Succeeding 3rd - Foxmore 4th – Common Knowledge

POLKA QUEEN was a late scratching at 10.28 a.m. on veterinary advice.

DAYLIGHT DIAMOND (R. McMahon) jumped away awkwardly.

ST NICCO (M. Palmer) jumped in at the start and made contact with AMBER LODGE (J. Byrne).

Approaching the 1000m PERSUADES (B. Pengelly) had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of STEPPING (B. Stewart) which shifted in.

PERSUADES and ST NICCO were obliged to race wide throughout.

Shortly after straightening FOXMORE (S. Katsidis) was momentarily impeded by COMMON KNOWLEDGE (S. Scriven) which shifted in.

A post-race veterinary examination of PERSUADES failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 5: RACETREE QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1200M
1st - Socialist 2nd - Mosso 3rd - Coccolare 4th - Sequestrate

On jumping away EMIT TIME (M. Palmer) shifted out and made contact with PROUD HUNTER (R. Mason) which in turn shifted out and bumped the hind quarters of BOLD REASON. (M. Carson).

Apprentice S. Drake, the rider of DULACCA DIVA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that passing the 1100m she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of DEPARTURE (J. Bowditch), which was taken in on to POLARIS (M. Morris), which in turn was taken in on to BOLD REASON, resulting in BOLD REASON being hampered and having to shift in abruptly. As a result of the tightening, DEPARTURE had to be steadied and relinquish its position. S. Drake’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Wednesday, 12 July, and expire at midnight on Friday, 28 July 2006.

DEPARTURE, POLARIS and PROUD HUNTER were forced to race wide throughout.

BOLD REASON was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Post-race veterinary examinations of DULACCA DIVA and POLARIS failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 6: QTC MEMBERS 1MW LY H’CAP – 1000M
1st – A Little Naughty 2nd – That’s Better 3rd – Sir Monashee 4th – Hot Cymbal

Trainer J. Morrisey was fined $100 under LR. 70 for failing to delcare M. Carson as the rider of A LITTLE NAUGHTY by the prescribed time.

FADE (M. Palmer), which was a little slow to begin, was bumped on jumping away by ORRONG (J. Bowditch) which jumped away awkwardly.

IMPERIALISM (S. Katsidis) jumped in at the start and made contact with STEEL CAP (A. Pattillo).

Near the 350m YUBI (S. Galloway) had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of STEEL CAP, which was taken out slightly by THAT’S BETTER (M. Cahill).

Approaching the 200m SIR MONASHEE (B. Stewart) ran up on to the heels of DON’T TELL TOM (M. Morris) and had to be steadied. SIR MONASHEE was then obliged to shift out to obtain clear running.

The Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that KUTALO was suffering metabolic heat syndrome following the event.

Race 7: ASCOT H’CAP – 1400M
1st - Consular 2nd - Mitanni 3rd - Romare 4th – Smart And Mighty

GRECOLO (S. Seamer) and STEP RIGHT IN (J. Bowditch) were forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

Passing the 1000m ROMARE (S. Galloway), which was overracing, had to be steadied off the heels of MITANNI (B. Pengelly).

Rounding the home turn MITANNI shifted out to improve to the outside of DEVIL (S. Katsidis) and in doing so forced GRECOLO wider on the track.

Rounding the home turn UMAPRINCE (M. Cahill) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FLUFFY DUCK (L. Hofmann) which was taken in slightly by DEVIL.

Approaching the 400m CONSULAR (S. Scriven) shifted out to improve and made contact ROMARE.

Stewards questioned trainer J. P. Wallace and jockey B. Pengelly regarding the riding tactics adopted on MITANNI today as opposed to its recent starts. Trainer J. Wallace was reminded of his obligations to advise stewards should connections intend to change the riding tactics adopted.

Race 8: WWW.QTC.ORG 1MW LY – 1800M
1st – Seven Crownies 2nd – King Latarmiss 3rd – Sir Coup 4th – Pay Me

As M. Morris was declared as the rider of HOFMEISTER without being engaged, stewards permitted B. Pengelly to replace him when no other apprentice rider was available. Stewards intend to speak to trainer R. Smerdon regarding this matter.

HOFMEISTER (B. Pengelly) was slow to begin.

In the early stages THEE AULD HUSSIE (S. Seamer) overraced and approaching the 1500m had to be steadied off the heels of BENEDETTI (J. Byrne). THEE AULD HUSSIE then raced wide for the remainder of the event.

BRANDY CRUSTER (M. Palmer), BENEDETTI (J. Byrne) and SKYLEDA were forced to race wide throughout.

Near the 1300m KING LATARMISS (A. Pattillo) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of RAPID REASON (J. Bowditch) which was taken in by SILKY RED BOXER (S. Katsidis). S. Katsidis was reprimanded. RAPID REASON then commenced to overrace for a short distance.

SEVEN CROWNIES (B. Stewart) was forced to race wide in the early stages until approaching the 1000m where B. Stewart elected to allow the gelding to stride forward and take up a position outside the leader.

Passing the 400m PAY ME (C. Spry) shifted out and brushed BEALE STREET (M. Morris).

Approaching the 200m MOTIVATE (R. McMahon), which was inclined to lay out, had to be steadied off the heels of KING LATARMISS (A. Pattillo) which shifted in slightly.

Near the 100m PAY ME (C. Spry) was placed in restricted room between SILKY RED BOXER and MOTIVATE which was inclined to lay out.

When questioned regarding the performance of SILKY RED BOXER, S. Katsidis stated that after beginning well, he was going to be caught wide in the early stages and in order to obtain a position closer to the fence he was obliged to go forward and have the horse closer than he had anticipated. He added that the horse, in his opinion, ran on fairly given the circumstances. His explanation was noted.

J. Byrne reported to stewards he was instructed to have BENEDETTI forward today, however after beginning from a wide alley, the horse was unable to muster early speed and he was obliged to settle the horse further back than he anticipated.
