SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Race 1: Parups Waring Architects 1MW H’cap – 1500m
1st – Phoenix Express 2nd – Nediym’s Image 3rd – Lambeth Walk 4th – Craiglea Bob
The saddle on KANETOSHI MILLIONS (J. Bowditch) shifted forward near the 1200m, placing J. Bowditch at a disadvantage for the majority of the event.
FLYING TEST (J. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly.
LAMBETH WALK (S. Seamer) blundered on jumping away and shifted out, making contact with CUT A CAPER (R. McMahon).
PHOENIX EXPRESS (M. Cahill) overraced in the early stages.
Approaching the 300m, PERETTE (B. Stewart), which was endeavouring to obtain clear running to the outside of CUT A CAPER, shifted out, taking KANETOSHI MILLIONS (J. Bowditch) out on to the hind quarters of ROMAN SQUIRE (M. Cahill). PERETTE was then unable to gain clear running and was held up until after passing the 200m.
Stewards questioned B. Stewart regarding his riding tactics on PERETTE in the straight, especially his apparent failure to take a run between CHUT (G. Colless) and CUT A CAPER (R. McMahon) near the 300m. He stated that his instructions were to have the mare placed midfield and to endeavour to get the mare to the outside in the straight to have an unimpeded run over the concluding stages. Jockey Stewart explained that shortly after straightening he endeavoured to shift out around the heels of CUT A CAPER (R. McMahon) to obtain a clear run but was unable to do so. He further added that he elected to keep persevering for a run to the outside of CUT A CAPER given his instructions to get PERETTE to the outside in the straight. Stewards advised B. Stewart that in their opinion he may have erred by failing to take a run between CHUT and CUT A CAPER when it presented itself after initially being dissappointed for clear running to the outside of CUT A CAPER. In all the circumstances, stewards took no action other than to advise B. Stewart that although riders were expected to ride to instructions where circumstances permit, jockeys should show initiative and take opportunities when they present themselves.
A post race veterinary examination of CHUT, which performed below expectations, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
