SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From BTC meeting, 7.10.06
Trainer G. Osborne was fined $50 for nominating SUPER IMPRINT for the 1 MW race when ineligible.
Race 1: Marist College Ashgrove Foundation Class 6 Plate – 2100m
1st – Darkside Lass 2nd – Santi 3rd – Cockaigne 4th – Outside The Flags
HOPESON (C. Spry), which was a little slow to begin, had to be checked on jumping away when tightened for room between KING LATARMISS (S. Seamer) and GROSVENOR GATE (J. Holder), which jumped inwards.
STARS IN FLIGHT (J. Taylor) and OUTSIDE THE FLAGS (M. Cahill) both jumped away awkwardly.
EMGEE REX (M. Carson) was forced to raced wide early.
KING LATARMISS was forced to race wide early in the middle stages.
SANTI (J. Bowditch) was inclined to overrace in the middle stages.
STARS IN FLIGHT (J. Taylor) raced ungenerously in the middle stags and passing the 1000m was inclined to hang out.
Near the 300m, CHICKCHAT (M. Morris) was disappointed for a narrow run between DANELAND (A. Pattillo) and KING LATARMISS, both of which shifted ground slightly. In this incident, CHICKCHAT had to be steadied. OUTSIDE THE FLAGS (M. Cahill), which was following, was held up for clear running.
Passing the 200m, CHICKCHAT had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of DANELAND, which shifted in.
Rounding the home turn, COCKAIGNE (T. Pannell) had to be momentarily steadied when tightened for room between DARKSIDE LASS (B. Pengelly), which shifted in slightly, and EMGEE REX (M. Carson), which was taken out by DANELAND when that horse shifted out away from KING LATARMISS, which was inclined to lay out.
A post race veterinary examination of STARS IN FLIGHT revealed the horse to be suffering from heat stress. Trainer A. Bailey was advised that he must obtain a veterinary clearance prior to the mare’s next race start.
Race 2: National Breast Cancer Foudation QTIS Class 6 3yo H’cap – 1000m
1st – Winaura 2nd – Monashee Knight 3rd – Elanet 4th - Siodee
ASCENDANT (G. Colless) and REONMAY (K. Wharton) were slow to begin.
SIODEE (S. Seamer) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with the hind quarters of WINAURA (A. Pattillo).
THE CHANSTER (M. Cahill) jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 700m, IT’S IN HER EYES (J. Taylor), which was racing ungenerously, shifted out and bumped MONASHEE KNIGHT (B. Stewart). IT’S IN HER EYES then raced ungenerously for some distance, and approaching the 500m shifted out and again bumped MONASHEE KNIGHT, which was forced to race 3 wide throughout.
Approaching the 200m, ELANET (R. Plumb) had to be momentarily eased off the heels of ASCENDANT. ELANET then shifted out, inconveniencing IT’S IN HER EYES.
When questioned regarding the performance of THE CHANSTER, M. Cahill stated that his instructions were to lead, however after blundering on jumping away, he took a position just behind the leader. He further added that the gelding was a little disappointing over the concluding stages.. A post race veterinary examination of THE CHANSTER failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of DONALD VICTOR, J. Byrne stated that the gelding only began fairly however when endeavouring to place the horse in a position early, DONALD VICTOR never felt comfortable. He further added that the gelding did not stretch out as anticipated for the remainder of the event. Trainer B. McLachlan stated that after being a little slow to begin, the horse may not have been entirely comfortable by the tempo of the race. He further added that, in his opinion, the gelding may be suited by races over longer distances. DONALD VICTOR was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon with no abnormalities reported.
Race 3: Chicks In Pink QTIS 2yo Fillies H’cap – 1000m
1st – Carry On Kosa 2nd – Atomic Huss 3rd – Falvalea 4th – Martini Princess
CLEAR CONSCIENCE (G. Colless), LOTS OF SUCCESS (M. Radecker) and TELECOSSER (J. Byrne) were all slow to begin.
Approaching the 550m, CLEAR CONSCIENCE (G. Colless) ran up on to the heels of CAT DAZZLE (L. Morrison) and had to be steadied.
At the stage, KARA MOON (J. Bowditch) shifted in, taking MARTINI PRINCESS (T. Pannell) in, inconveniencing GOYOUSOANDSO (S. Seamer).
Near the 200m, GOYOUSOANDSO ran up on to the heels of KARA MOON (J. Bowditch), which shifted out abruptly.
ATOMIC HUSS (S. Scriven) and MASTARA (M. Price) raced wide throughout.
Stewards severely admonished S. Scriven regarding his use of the whip on ATOMIC HUSS in the straight.
A post race veterinary examination of KARA MOON failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 4: Marist College Ashgrove Old Boys Association 1mw H’cap – 1600m
1st – Finder Page 2nd – Minoa 3rd – Guerrouj 4th - Lindholme
MY SONG was declared a late scratching at the barriers on veterinary advice at 2.29 p.m. after the horse kicked itself on the off hind shin. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on MY SONG were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 4 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 5 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets.
ANCIENT KING (J. Byrne) was forced to race wide in the early stages.
Near the 300m, MINOA (B. Stewart) was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of J. Bowditch (LINDHOLME).
Passing the 200m, PHOENIX EXPRESS (M. Cahill) had to be steadied when tightened for room between MINOA (B. Stewart), which was taken in slightly by LINDHOLME (J. Bowditch), and ANCIENT KING (J. Byrne), which was taken out by KUTALO (K. Banks), which shifted out under pressure. Both K. Banks, rider of KUTALO, and J. Bowditch, rider of LINDHOLME, were advised to make greater efforts to keep their mounts straight in similar circumstances.
NEDIYM’S IMAGE (L. Dillon) was forced to race wide for the majority of the event.
Race 5: Marist College Ashgrove Parents And Friends Association H’cap – 1800m
1st – My Chinese King 2nd – Rue The Saint 3rd – Milady Clang 4th – Tycoon Rose
The start was delayed when TYCOON ROSE required farrier attention.
TACKMAN (S. Seamer) was a little slow to begin.
SONG TIME (J. Byrne) and MY CHINESE KING (M. Radecker) overraced in the early stages.
MY CHINESE KING (M. Radecker) was inclined to shift ground outwards under pressure over the concluding stages.
KING’S COUP (A. Pattillo) was forced to race wide throughout.
Post-race veterinary examinations of TACKMAN and COLD START failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 6: QRSE AACO’S 1824 Premium Beef F&M Quality
1st – Enthusiast 2nd – Damigos 3rd – Rock Of Mufasa 4th - Yell
After riding in race 5, A. Pattillo was examined by the club’s doctor and stood down from his remaining engagements. L. Morrison was substituted as the rider of COOL SCENE and T. Pannell as the rider of CIRCUS MAXIMUS in race 8. A. Pattillo was advised he must produce a medical clearance prior to riding again.
Trainer B. Bowditch was fined $200 for presenting PROUDLY AGRO to the enclosure without blinkers.
PROUDLY AGRO (B. Pengelly) was slow to begin.
MESSIAEN (J. Holder) jumped away awkwardly and made contact with ST. BASIL (M. Cahill).
MESSIAEN and PROUDLY AGRO were forced to race wide throughout.
A post race veterinary examination of ST BASIL failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 7: Fringe Bar Class 6 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Testimonial 2nd – Aim So High 3rd – Kistadan 4th – Craigla Warrior
Trainer R. Nicholson was fined $100 for for failing to declare a rider for DE BONO by the prescribed time.
FADE (R. Plumb) was slow to begin.
KISTADAN (G. Colless) jumped away awkwardly.
AIM SO HIGH (S. Katsidis) blundered on jumping away.
Shortly after the start, JESTER’S DANCE (J. Bowditch) commenced to lay in and did so for some distance.
Near the 250m, JESTER’S DANCE, which was still inclined to lay in, had to be steadied off the heels of DE BONO (K. Forrester).
Approaching the 200m, FAIR ACE (M. Price) raced up on to the heels of JEBSEN CHAMPION and had to be steadied.
JEBSEN CHAMPION (M. Morris) and PRIMAL IMPULSE (J. Taylor) raced wide for the majority of the event.
JEBSEN CHAMPION (M. Morris) bled from both nostrils during the event. Trainer B. McLachlan was advised that as this was the second time the gelding had bled, JEBSEN CHAMPION will now be barred from riding for life.
Apprentice R. Plumb was reprimanded for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram overweight. In issuing a reprimand only, stewards took into account this was R. Plumb’s first contravention of this rule.
Subsequent to the event, jockey K. Forrester reported that, in his opinion, DE BONO was substituted as the rider of sore in the off fore leg. Trainer R. Nicholson will be advised that he must produce a veterinary clearance for DE BONO prior to its next race start.
Race 8: Mater Hospital NMW H’cap – 1400m
1st – Nellie Got There 2nd – Temple Jack 3rd – Cane Cutter 4th – Our Jangles
ECHO LAD (B. Payne) stood flatfooted as the gates were released, losing considerable ground. Trainer J. Weidemann was advised that the horse must trial in an official barrier trial and obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
DIGGING DEEP (S. Seamer) jumped away awkwardly.
BLUE OYSTER (J. Holder) and CANE CUTTER (K. Forrester) both jumped away awkwardly and came together at the start.
A short distance later, BLUE OYSTER was placed in restricted room between CIRCUS MAXIMUS (T. Pannell) and FRISCO LASS (M. Cahill), which was taken in by PARADISE DANCER (M. Price).
Near the 1000m, DIGGING DEEP (S. Seamer), which had a tendency to overrace, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of PARADISE DANCER (M. Price), which shifted in. M. Price, rider of PARADISE DANCER, was advised to provide more clearance when crossing.
Rounding the home turn, PARADISE DANCER was momentarily steadied when tightened for room between DANCE HUNTER (R. Plumb), which was inclined to lay out, and TELFIRE , which shifted in slightly.
Passing the 400m, TEMPLE JACK (D. Johnson) shifted out and bumped DIGGING DEEP (S. Seamer).
M. Cahill, rider of FRISCO’S LASS, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 300m he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of BLUE OYSTER, resulting in BLUE OYSTER being taken out on to the hind quarters of CIRCUS MAXIMUS and having to be checked and lose its position. M. Cahill was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 18 October, and to expire at midnight, 1 November 2006.
Approaching the 200m, ENGINEER (B. Stewart) shifted out and bumped NEPRO (J. Bowditch).
Nearing the 100m, PARADISE DANCER (M. Price) ran up on to the heels of TELFIRE and had to be steadied.
Near the 100m, TELFIRE (C. Spry) was inconvenienced by COCKTAIL SHAKER (K. Pope), which shifted in.
BLUE OYSTER (J. Hoopert) improved up on to the heels of DIGGING DEEP near the 100m and had to be steadied.
CIRCUS MAXIMUS (T. Pannell) was forced to race wide throughout.
