As M. Cahill was indisposed, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary sheet.
Race 1: FLEUR DE LYS QTIS 2YO FILLIES H’CAP – 1000M
1st – Miss Watagan 2nd - Kenshe 3rd – Falontime 4th - Anabarbarian
SHEALMA was a late scratching at 8:04 a.m. by order of the stewards as trainer Mr C. Brown had failed to scratch by the prescribed time. Stewards intend to interview Mr Brown regarding this matter at a time to be fixed.
NUDE ETRUSCAN (G. Colless) was slow to begin.
BOSCOBABE (S. Katsidis) was hampered on jumping away between MISS WATAGAN (B. Stewart) and FALONTIME (B. El-Issa) which was taken in slightly by PONCHO (R. Plumb).
Approaching the 800m RUNAWAY FUND (J. Byrne), which was inclined to race ungenerously, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KENSHE (R. McMahon), which was taken in slightly by PONCHO.
NUDE ETRUSCAN overraced in the early stages.
RUNAWAY FUND had a tendency to lay in for the majority of the event.
BOSCOBABE laid in in the early stages of the straight.
Race 2: ROSEMOUNT ESTATE 2MW LY H’CAP – 1815M
1st – Finder Page 2nd – My Chinese King 3rd – Diamondsondinside 4th – Active Combat
ARENACEOUS (J. Taylor) was slow to begin.
In the early stages, due to the tempo of the race, SNICK (B. El-Issa) and ACTIVE COMBAT (J. Bowditch) had a tendency to overrace.
Near the 1200m SNICK shifted three wide and was allowed to stride forward in an endeavour to obtain the lead.
SHEOAKS (M. Palmer) was forced to race wide throughout.
Near the 200m THE REAL ROKOCOKO (R. McMahon) was placed in restricted room between GRAND LOVER (J. Byrne) and DIAMONDSONDINSIDE (S. Katsidis) which shifted out. At the same stage THE REAL ROKOCOKO was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of S. Katsidis.
DIAMONDSONDINSIDE lost its near fore plate in running.
Race 3: WYNNS COONAWARRA ESTATE H’CAP – 1600M
1st – Wings Of Seraph 2nd – Spectacular Pic 3rd – L’Eleve 4th – Leica launch
On return to scale, S. Katsidis, rider of LEICA LAUNCH, placed 4th by the Judge, lodged an objection against 2nd placegetter SPECTACULAR PIC (K. Forrester) on the grounds of interference near the 300m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the official film, stewards found that whilst LEICA LAUNCH was impeded, they were not satisfied that the margin at the finish exceeded the amount of ground lost in the interference and the protest was therefore dismissed and correct weight semaphored on the Judge’s placings. At a subsequent inquiry, jockey K. Forrester pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that near the 300m he permitted his mount to shift out to improve when not clear of LEICA LAUNCH, resulting in that horse losing its rightful running. K. Forrester’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Monday, 27 November, and to expire at midnight on Saturday, 9 December 2006.
LEICA LAUNCH (S. Katsidis) and MIXED DOZEN (J. Sharp) were a little slow to begin.
Shortly after the start LEICA LAUNCH had to be steadied when tightened for room between SLIM PICKINGS (J. Warrington) and SPECTACULAR PIC (K. Forrester), both of which shifted ground.
PREND (D. Peisley) and EMMBOWEN (R. Plumb) overraced in the early stages.
FAIR ACE (M. Price) was forced to race wide in the early stages.
Near the 1000m EMMBOWEN had to be steadied when tightened for room between FAIR ACE and PREND which shifted out.
CHATINN (K. Wharton) raced wide throughout.
Near the 800m OUR JANGLES (P. Hammersley) shifted out forcing CHATINN wider on the track.
SLIM PICKINGS was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
A post-race veterinary examination of PREND failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
Race 4: LINDEMAN QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1400M
1st – Hear Ye 2nd – Wesley Manor 3rd – Ancient Impulse 4th – Cole Trickle
TACT (J. Taylor) was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start O’CALLAHERN (M. Price) and SILENT TIDE (R. Plumb) wre tightened for room between NEWS TO ME (R. McMahon) and ANCIENT IMPULSE (B. El-Issa) which was taken out by MOGLICH (S. Seamer). MILLERS WHEEL (J. Byrne), which was following, had to be steadied.
COLE TRICKLE (M. Morris) was forced to race wide in the early stages.
WESLEY MANOR (D. Peisley) overraced in the early stages.
Near the 900m MILLERS WHEEL was momentarily tightened by NEWS TO ME which shifted in slightly.
Near the 150m MOGLICH had to be steadied to avoid the heels of COLE TRICKLE which shifted out.
J. Bowditch pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 137(b) in that he failed to ride MY CENTURION out to the end of the race and was fined $200.
Race 5: CHAMPAGNE LANSON 1MW LY H’CAP – 1400M
1st – Tellem 2nd – Party Express 3rd – Tropical Express 4th – Peel
BUZZ (M. Price), HOUSE OF WOODWIND (J. Taylor) and PERSONAL LOOK (R. Plumb) were all slow to begin.
POINT MADE (S. Seamer) and BLOOD BIN (S. Galloway) were tightened shortly after the start between WESTERN BRACE (K. Wharton) and NEDIYM’S IMAGE (M. Palmer), which was taken out by APPERTAIN (D. Peisley), which shifted out.
Near the 1300m HOUSE OF WOODWIND had to be steadied when tightened for room by BLOOD BIN which, when overracing, improved to the inside of WHAT A GUY (J. Bowditch).
WESTERN BRACE was forced to race wide throughout.
Rounding the home turn APPERTAIN, which was weakening, became unbalanced to the inside of MY SONG (W. Pearson).
Passing the 100m NEDIYM’S IMAGE (M. Palmer) had to be steadied after improving on to the heels of PEEL (R. McMahon) and was obliged to alter course inwards to obtain clear running.
Race 6: SEPPELT WINES QUEENSLAND CUP – 3200M
1st - Respect 2nd – Dicktator 3rd – Rezone 4th – Lester Thunderwing
REZONE (K. Pope) blundered on jumping away, shifted in and made contact with ADAVALE HORNET (M. Price).
Near the 3000m REZONE had to be steadied when tightened for room between KING LATARMISS (S. Seamer) and TOULOUSE LAUTREC (B. Stewart) which was inclined to lay in. B. Stewart was nevertheless reprimanded under AR. 137(a) and advised that he must make greater effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.
TOULOUSE LAUTREC (B. Stewart) was obliged to race wide in the early stages until near the 2000m.
DICKTATOR (P. Hammersley) was caught wide in the early stages until approaching the 2600m.
Near the 1600m DICKTATOR shifted out abruptly and lost ground.
REZONE was forced to race wide from the 1600m until near the 1100m.
Close to the finish line, RESPECT (S. Katsidis) shifted in and brushed DICKTATOR.
The Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that CLASSIC KARLA quartered the inside heel of the near hind leg.
The Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that REZONE was showing signs of metabolic heat syndrome following the event.
Race 7: SEPPELT SALINGER H’CAP – 1200M
1st – Sir Breakfast 2nd – Enthusiast 3rd – October Grey 4th – Proudly Agro
On jumping away FORESTRENO (S. Galloway) shifted out and bumped ENTHUSIAST (S. Katsidis). A short distance later FORESTRENO had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ENTHUSIAST which shifted in. S. Katsidis was reprimanded under AR. 137(a).
AIM SO HIGH (J. Taylor) and FOOLISH (B. El-Issa) came together on jumping away.
Passing the 1000m AIM SO HIGH, which was overracing on the heels of DOONAN (K. Forrester), shifted out. FOOLISH, which was following, struck the heels of AIM SO HIGH and then shifted out abruptly.
DAUNTING LAD (J. Byrne), GRECOLO (S. Seamer) and FORESTRENO raced wide for the majority of the event.
Approaching the 800m FOOLISH again had to be steadied off the heels of FORESTRENO.
Passing the 400m SIR BREAKFAST (G. Colless) shifted out to improve around the heels of ENTHUSIAST (S. Katsidis) and brushed PRINCESS MARGARET (R. McMahon).
A post-race veterinary examination of DAUNTING LAD failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
Race 8: PENFOLDS 0MW H’CAP – 1200M
1st – Tudor Quest 2nd – Consider Yourself 3rd – Rumbird 4th – Poiym
As K. Forrester failed to weigh in on 4th placegetter CANE CUTTER, stewards could not be completely satisfied that the horse had carried its allotted weight in the event and therefore, acting under AR. 144, disqualified CANE CUTTER from the event and amended the Judge’s placings to read: 11, 19, 4 and 22. At a subsequent inquiry K. Forrester pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 175(k) in that his negligence led to a breach of AR. 144 in that he failed to weigh in on the 4th horse past the post, CANE CUTTER. K. Forrester’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of one calendar month, to commence at midnight Monday, 27 November, up to and including Wednesday, 27 December 2006. Stewards ordered that this suspension be served concurrently with the 7 meeting suspension K. Forrester incurred following a careless riding charge in Race 3.
TOWN PLAYER (R. McMahon) and DUHAABA (G. Colless) came together on jumping away.
RUMBIRD (P. Hammersley) jumped away awkwardly.
CANE CUTTER (K. Forrester) and STIPEND (K. Wharton) came together on jumping away.
TRY SOME MAGIC (J. Bowditch) and MISTER DE BALI (M. Morris) were forced to race wide throughout.
Approaching the 200m RUMBIRD shifted in and brushed CANE CUTTER.
TWO FINGERS (J. Taylor) was held up over the final 50m behind the tiring DUHAABA.
The Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that DUHAABA had a bruise above the near elbow. A swab sample was taken from DUHAABA.
Apprentice M. Palmer, the rider of CONSIDER YOURSELF, was fined $100 under AR. 145 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram overweight.
Jockey J. Holder, the rider of TUDOR QUEST, was fined $200 under AR. 145 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram overweight.
