Race 1: TOTAL SPORTS TRAVEL 2MW H’CAP - 1200m
1st – Instructed 2nd – Craiglea Emma 3rd – Stylish Qualo 4th – Primal Impulse

LOMBARDY (G. Colless) reared as the gates opened and lost considerable ground. Trainer A. Bailey was advised that a warning was being placed on LOMBARDY. A post-race veterinary examination of LOMBARDY revealed no abnormalities.

CRAIGLEA EMMA (A. Coome) jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start INSTRUCTED (S. Scriven) shifted out and made contact with STYLISH QUALO (J. Taylor) which in turn shifted out and bumped SMARTEN CLASSY (B. El-Issa).

Rounding the home turn STYLISH QUALO, which was endeavouring to shift out to obtain clear running, made contact with FINE CHEVAL (S. Galloway) on several occasions.

STYLISH QUALO had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Approaching the 200m PARADISE DANCER (A. Taylor), which was weakening, had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of SHOVOOT (J. Jones) which shifted out slightly.

Race 2: HAMILTON HOTEL H’CAP - 1600m
1st – Daring Fortune 2nd – On The Up 3rd – The Real Rokocoko 4th – Nexgen

MONASEECI (J. Bowditch) and DARING FORTUNE (J. Powell) were tightened on jumping away between ON THE UP (S. Katsidis) and FROTTAGE (K. O’Hara) which after jumping away awkwardly shifted out.

Passing the 1300m BIG KEA (J. Taylor) commenced to hang out and did so for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination of BIG KEA failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer G. Hatch was advised that BIG KEA must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before its next start.

DUOMO (S. Baster) and ACE ARENA (B. El-Issa) raced wide throughout.

Approaching the 800m MONASEECI (J. Bowditch) was placed in restricted room to the inside of PALEFACE PETE (J. Jones) which was inclined to lay in.

Near the 700m TACKMAN (Z. Purton) had to be steadied after improving up on to the heels of MONASEECI.

Passing the 600m crossing, BIG KEA, which continued to hang out, shifted out and made contact with ON THE UP. A short distance later BIG KEA, forced HY DREAM (C. Brown) and OSTRAS (K. Wharton) wider whilst hanging out.

Near the 50m GOGGLER (S. Galloway) shifted out to improve around the heels of DUOMO and in doing so made contact with ACE ARENA.

Trainer P. Duff was advised that a warning was being placed on FROTTAGE for its disappointing performance.

DARING FORTUNE lost its off hind plate in running.

Race 3: HARDY BROTHERS JEWELLERS QTIS H’CAP - 1200m
1st – Mr Doyle 2nd – Stolit 3rd – Ima Joke 4th – Tie Me Up

MAIN VEIN (G. Colless) reared as the gates opened and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination of MEIN VEIN revealed no abnormalities.

EASY ROCKER (L. Nolen) was slow to begin.

CASTLES OF ANN (J. Taylor) and COLE TRICKLE (A. Coome) raced wide throughout.

Rounding the home turn STIRRING (Z. Purton) was inclined to lay out and shortly after entering the straight shifted out and made contact with COLE TRICKLE.

Approaching the 300m STIRRING, which was weakening, had to be steadied when tightened for room between COLE TRICKLE, which shifted in slightly, and SECONDE (J. Bowditch) which shifted out slightly.

PARTYGOER (M. Price) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

When questioned regarding the performance of STIRRING, jockey Z. Purton stated that whilst the filly led, she had runners to her outside which applied pressure in the early and middle stages, however when asked for an effort shortly after straightening the early pressure told, resulting in STIRRING weakening out of the event. A veterinary examination of STIRRING revealed no abnormalities.

Race 4: AUSTRALIA POST STAKES - 1400m
1st – Isurava 2nd – Pepperwood 3rd – Our Magic 4th – Tripitz

SAN RICO (M. Du Plessis) and ISURAVA (G. Colless) came together on jumping away.

UNCONQUERABLE (S. Baster), which jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with KEELROW (K. O’Hara). A short distance later UNCONQUERABLE was placed in restricted room between KEELROW and ATOMIC HUSS (J. Powell) which shifted out.

MIKAHNA (J. Taylor) overraced in the early stages.

Near the 1200m KEELROW (K. O’Hara) lost its position when tightened for room by OUR MAGIC (J. Bowditch) which after initially applying pressure was inclined to shift in and away from ISURAVA (G. Colless) which took a position to the outside of that horse. TRIPITZ (B. Stewart), which was following, also had to be checked off the heels of KEELROW. In assessing the matter, although stewards gave J. Bowditch the benefit of the doubt that he was fully responsible for the incident, he was nevertheless issued with a reprimand.

SAN RICO and ISURAVA raced wide throughout.

Near the 500m UNCONQUERABLE, which was racing ungenerously, shifted out and made contact with PEPPERWOOD (S. Scriven). UNCONQUERABLE then shifted back in of its own accord tightening MIKAHNA, which had improved to that horse’s inside.

PRINCESS OF MONACO (B. El-Issa) was inclined to lay in under pressure down the straight.

A post-race veterinary examination of UNCONQUERABLE failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 5: W.J. HEALY STAKES - 1200m
1st – The Jackal 2nd – Sectagonal 3rd – Flying Alpha 4th – Show Biz Kid

SHOW BIZ KID was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to race.

Shortly after the start STREET SMART (J. Byrne) lost its position when tightened for room between THE JACKAL (R. Thompson), which shifted out slightly, and COINCIDENTAL (G. Colless), which was taken in by TORNADO ALLEY (B. El-Issa). Stewards reprimanded jockey El-Issa for failing to make sufficient effort to relieve the pressure to the riders to his inside.

FUNLOVE (M. Du Plessis), THE JACKAL (R. Thompson) and RECAPITALIZE (S. Treweek) raced wide throughout.

Near the 350m SINGLE ROSE (K. Wharton) shifted out, momentarily impeding FLYING ALPHA (T. Clark).

Near the 300m FALAISE (T. Pannell) had to be steadied when disappointed for a run where there was insufficient room between TELLEM (S. Katsidis) and FUNLOVE (M. Du Plessis) which shifted out slightly when weakening.

SHOW BIZ KID (S. Scriven) had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.

STREET SMART (J. Byrne) was unable to obtain clear running inside the final 100m.

Race 6: QLD BREEDERS & TATTERSALL’S WINTER STAKES - 1400m
1st – Nova Star 2nd – Fashions Afield 3rd – J’Adane 4th – Doubting

FRITZ’S PRINCESS (C. Brown), VITESSE DANE (T. Clark), VEGAS SHOWGIRL (O. Bosson), IMANA (K. O’Hara) and GEE I JANE (B. El-Issa) were all tightened on jumping away between CINQUE CENTO (S. Arnold) and AQUA D’AMORE (S. Baster) which after jumping away a little awkwardly shifted out.

GOLD EDITION (J. Powell) and HASTA LA CIAO CIAO (D. Dunn) came together on jumping away.

Near the 1200m NOVA STAR (S. Katsidis) had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of GOLD EDITION which was taken in slightly by J’ADANE (M. Du Plessis).

HASTA LA CIAO CIAO overraced in the early stages.

CINQUE CENTO, AQUA D’AMORE, GEE I JANE and VITESSE DANE were all forced to race wide throughout.

Shortly after the 600m crossing IMANA shifted out and made contact with the hind quarters of VEGAS SHOWGIRL.

A post-race veterinary examination of GOLD EDITION failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that CINQUE CENTO was galloped on on the off hind leg.

Race 7: CARLTON DRAUGHT TATTERSALL’S CUP - 2200m
1st – Ice Chariot 2nd – Rampant Lion 3rd – Mirkola Lass 4th – Game On

CASA DE CAMPO, which kicked through the back gates, was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and found to have suffered lacerations and bruising to the off hind leg. Acting on veterinary advice, stewards ordered the withdrawal of CASA DE CAMPO at 3:52 p.m. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on CASA DE CAMPO be refunded, with deductions of 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of win tickets and 4 cents in the dollar on the face value of place tickets to apply.

RASH PROMISE (D. Dunn) and AQUAREINE (K. Wharton) were slow to begin.

DANOISERIE (C. Brown) and MIRKOLA LASS (J. Taylor) came together on jumping away.

Near the 1700m DIAMONDSONDINSIDE (Z. Purton), when being steadied, got its head in the air and shifted out.

RAMPANT LION (J. Bowditch) was caught wide in the early stages.

FORT ‘N’ WON (T. Clark) was forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

The Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that BAHA was slightly lame in the off foreleg following the event. Trainer S. Munro will be advised that he must produce a veterinary clearance for BAHA prior to its next race start.

Race 8: TATTERSALL’S OPEN MILE - 1600m
1st – Roman Squire 2nd – Ten To Countdown 3rd – Hard To Catch 4th – Legendary Man

As G. Colless was stood down by the Club’s medical officer, K. Wharton was substituted as the rider of MACAVELLI MISS. G. Colless was advised that he must produce a medical clearance before resuming race riding.

ROMAN SQUIRE (B. Pengelly), PRECISE TIMING (R. Thompson) and OUR LORD MONTY (J. Byrne) were all tightened shortly after the start between CHETTAK (C. Spry) and HARD TO CATCH (B. Stewart) which shifted in.

WARRIOR TRADER (B. El-Issa) overraced in the early stages.

SIR WINALOT (K. O’Hara) and MACAVELLI MISS (K. Wharton) raced wide for the majority of the event.
