Race 1: Don’t Play 2yo Fillies Maiden H’cap - 1000m
1st – Anabarbarian 2nd – Laross 3rd – Charmini 4th –Demeter’s Court

SOUL SEEKER (A. Coome) began awkwardly.

ACANTHUS (P. Wolfgram) and SUGAR CUBE (J. Byrne) came together on jumping away.

PINZSZAH (M. Heagney) was tightened for room on jumping away between ANABARBARIAN (J. Bowditch) and LAROSS (G. Colless), which shifted out.

Shortly after the start, MOONLIGHT ZEPHYR (M. Hackett) shifted in, taking DEMETER’S COURT (T. Pannell) in on to ACANTHUS.

Leaving 500m, SOUL SEEKER, when attempting to take a narrow run to the outside of
DULACCA DIAMOND (K. Yoshida), shifted out, making contact with the hind quarters of ACANTHUS (P. Wolfgram), which then shifted in, forcing SOUL SEEKER (A. Coome) across the heels of DULACCA DIAMOND, which shifted out slightly, resulting in SOUL SEEKER having to be checked.

STAR SUPREME (J. Powell) was momentarily held up for clear running leaving the 200m.






Race 2: Charmosa 2yo C&G Maiden H’cap - 1000m
1st – Jive Bandit 2nd – Heart Of The Citi 3rd – Turffontein 4th –Borsha’s Mark

MANILA WARRIOR (G. Colless) was slow to begin.

WARBURG (J. Bowditch), TURFFONTEIN (J. Powell) and DRAMA AFTER DRAMA (J. Byrne) were all tightened for room on jumping away between LEAPING LEIGH (R. Goltz) and JIVE BANDIT (S. Scriven), both of which shifted ground.

GRENADES (T. Pannell), CAWDOR TONY (S. Drake) and SHARING THE MAGIC (K. Wharton) were all tightened for room at the start between SO LONG (S. Galloway) an BORSHA’S MARK (J. Taylor), which shifted out.

Approaching the 350m, CAWDOR TONY (S. Drake) had to be steadied when tightened for room between LEAPING LEIGH (R. Goltz) and GRENADES (T. Pannell), which was taken out by JIVE BANDIT (S. Scriven).

TURFFONTEIN (J. Powell) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

DANARDOS (M. Du Plessis) and BORSHA’S MARK were caught wide for the majority of the event.

A swab sample was taken from the 2nd placegetter, ERINESE.


Race 3: Bemgalla Lad Maiden Plate – 1300m
1st – Xaareal 2nd – Erinese 3rd – Uncle Jan 4th – Aqua Profondeux

N. Day, rider of XAAREAL, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of CRESCENDO (S. Drake) near the 1000m, resulting in S. Drake having to steady the momentum of CRESCENDO. Shortly after, CRESCENDO, which was overracing, shifted in and clipped the heels of UNCLE JAN (M. Heagney), resulting in CRESCENDO blundering.

Inside the 100m, AQUA PROFONDEUX (D. Barron) was tightened for room and had to be steadied between ASSOCIES (G. Colless), which shifted in, and UNCLE JAN (M. Heagney), which shifted out.

GIRLZONE (R. Mason) was caught wide in the early and middle stages of the event.


Race 4: www.qtc.org Maiden Plate – 1600m
1st – Rise And Shine 2nd – Alleviation 3rd – Smart And Suave 4th – Turf Quest

FLOURESCENT was a late scratching at 1.57 p.m. on veterinary advice after the mare struck its head on the barriers. Trainer G. Alati was advised that the mare must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards on 2 occasions prior to its next race start.

KING FLING (G. Colless) was slow to begin.

STARELIE (D. Craven) overraced in the early stages.

Approaching the 800m, SMART AND SUAVE (W. Moore) had to be steadied when shifting out off the heels of BLOOD PILL (W. Pearson).

Nearing the 500m, PRETKIN (M. Heagney) race up on to the heels of KOPPERBERG (T. Pannell) and had to be steadied and shifted out.

HA D’ HA HA (K. Wharton) and ZABINSKI (B. Stewart) were caught wide for the majority of the event.

A post race veterinary examination of TURF QUEST revealed the gelding had been galloped on on the off hind fetlock.


Race 5: Peter Reid’s Birthday Class 4 H’cap - 1000m
1st – Pagan County 2nd – Mini View 3rd – Rosco’s Circus 4th – Taking It Easy

LENNON was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 11.42 a.m.

HOLY LOVER (R. Mason) knuckled over at the start.


Race 6: Just Now F&M Class 3 H’cap - 1500m
1st – Montoux 2nd – Falzig 3rd – My Flight 4th – Laila’s Dream

Near the 350m, MISS MOLLY DOLLY (J. Byrne) was obliged to alter course around the heels of FELECIA (J. Powell) to obtain clear running.

Leaving the 200m, MONTOUX (J. Bowditch) resented being struck with the whip.

SHEOAKS raced wide for the majority of the event.

A swab sample was taken from the 2nd placegetter, FALZIG.


Race 7: Prince Gauntlet CG&E Class 3 H’cap - 1500m
1st – Pass The Bubbly 2nd – Napper Tandy 3rd – Bearhart Lad 4th – Eye Max

O’CALLAHERN (R. Goltz), MIRABILIS (J. Byrne) and BEARHART LAD (K. Wharton) was tightened on jumping away between BARON SEATTLE (T. Pannell) and NAPPER TANDY (S. Seamer), which shifted in.

Near the 1400m, INDOMATO (K. Yoshida) had to be steadied off the heels of TAG (J. Powell), which shifted in. J. Powell, rider of TAG, was advised to exercise more care.

TAG (J. Powell) overraced in the early stages.

M. Du Plessis, rider of EYE MAX, reported that his mount overraced when leading in the event.

Leaving the 300m, FANTINO (D. Craven) shifted in and bumped MIRABILIS (J. Byrne).

Approaching the finish, EYE MAX was tightened for room between NAPPER TANDY (S. Seamer) and PASS THE BUBBLY, which shifted in under pressure.

A swab sample was taken from the 2nd placegetter, NAPPER TANDY.


Race 8: Lyndhurst Stud Class 5 H’cap – 1300m
1st – Burgundy Prince 2nd – Classic Alibi 3rd – Stage Shaker 4th – Telfire

KISTADAN (S. Scriven) began awkwardly.

THE CAVERN CLUB (D. Craven) was held up on straightening until near the 200m.

A. Coome, rider of the 3rd placegetter, STAGE SHAKER, was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the finish of the race.

GO GADGET (S. Galloway) raced wide for the majority of the event.
