Race 1: The Tote Maiden Plate - 1200m
1st – Naval Port 2nd – Organic Cookie 3rd – Innovator 4th – Maillot Vert

Trainer B. Baldwin was fined $100 for failing to notify the removal of blinkers on DANCE MACHINE when making a gear change with Trainers Service Centre.

FILLE SCENIQUE dislodged Michael Palmer when proceeding to the barriers and the horse galloped some distance riderless. FILLE SCENIQUE was withdrawn at 12.08 pm. Following the late withdrawal, all monies invested on FILLE SCENIQUE were ordered to be refunded and no deductions applied.

EMIFIVE (D. Peisley), which was fractious in the barriers, jumped away awkwardly and missed the start.

INNOVATOR (G. Colless) was slow to jump.

A short distance after the start, PATMOSS (Matthew Palmer) and MAPADAMA (J. Byrne) bumped when racing in restricted room between MAILLOT VERT (J. Powell) and NAVAL PORT (B. El-Issa) when both horses shifted ground.

DANCE MACHINE (K. Cunningham) commenced to hang out leaving the 800m, and at the 600m shifted out abruptly and made the crossing awkwardly, forcing FLYING SILVER (A. Taylor) extremely wide. The connections of DANCE MACHINE were advised that the horse would not be permitted to race until such time as it trials to the satisfaction of the stewards.

Passing the 1100m, MALKOVICH (T. Pannell), which was inclined to overrace when racing in restricted room between MAPADAMA (J. Byrne) and CREATED (K. Forrester), had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MAPADAMA.

Near the 1000m, WATERFORD SPRINGS (D. Craven), which was inclined to overrace, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of WYNNUM HIGH (K. Wharton), which shifted in.

LILYVALE LADY (A. Spinks) raced wide throughout.

Race 2: Stradbroke Bar Maiden Plate - 1000m
1st – Magical Joker 2nd – Lucyrox 3rd – Poncho 4th - Vaniroc

COLLECTIVE (A. Spinks) and PRETTY DIDA (B. El-Issa) were slow to begin.

LA ZAHA (M. Palmer) jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 100m, LA ZAHA (Matthew Palmer) had to be steadied when cramped for room by PRETTY DIDA (B. El-Issa), which was inclined to shift in away from VAINROC (A. Pattillo), which hung in under pressure in the run to the finish.

Race 3: Vice Regal Room Class 3 Plate 1400m
1st – Tenterfield 2nd – Life’s Short 3rd – How Brave 4th – Well Researched

TWENTY TO LIFE (B. El-Issa) was slow to begin.

WELL RESEARCHED (A. Spinks) was tightened for room at the start between BANG THE CASTLE (C. Spry) and LIFE’S SHORT (A. Pattillo) when both horses shifted ground.

For some distance approaching the 1000m, HOW BRAVE (B. Pengelly), which was inclined to overrace, had to be steadied off the heels of ASITUATION (J. Holder).

Passing the 850m, TENTERFIELD (K. Cunningham) became unbalanced when steadied to avoid the heels of LIFE’S SHORT (A. Pattillo), which was crossing to assume the lead on the rails. A. Pattillo, rider of LIFE’S SHORT, was reprimanded and instructed to provide more clearance when crossing in future.

Near the 300m, HOW BRAVE was inclined to lay in, and at the 200m hung in onto TENTERFIELD (K. Cunningham), brushing that horse’s hind quarters. TENTERFIELD then shifted out, and when straightened the horse then shifted in. TENTERFIELD was then inclined to shift out under pressure over the concluding stages.

When questioned, B. Pengelly agreed that HOW BRAVE was disappointing over the concluding stages and indicated that whilst TENTERFIELD was inclined to shift its ground outwards, HOW BRAVE proved difficult for him to test, due to its tendency to lay in.

BARON SEATTLE (T. Pannell) raced wide throughout.

Race 4: Ascot Bar H’cap - 1200m
1st – Noble Gaze 2nd – Mr Hornblower 3rd – Funlove 4th - Cambooya

Race 5: Guineas Room Class 3 Plate - 1200m
1st – High Tide Kid 2nd – Simplex 3rd – Equates 4th – Rock Slide

ILIKEDACOLOUR, which threw itself down and injured itself in the tie-up stalls, was declared a late withdrawal at 2.20 p.m. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on ILIKEDACOLOUR were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 9 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets. Following its behaviour today and also similar behaviour on a previous occasion whereby the horse was also withdrawn, trainer R. Heathcote was advised that the mare’s nomination would be refused indefinitely in accordance with AR50.

ENCHELLE (A. Coome) jumped inwards at the start and brushed REAL WORLD.

EQUATES (J. Byrne) raced 3 wide without cover for the entire race.

SON OF AGNES broke down near the 600m and was retired from the race. The club’s veterinary surgeon reported that SON OF AGNES broke down in the off fore leg. Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required for SON OF AGNES prior to its next race start.

WHATATUNE (J. Holder) was slow to begin.

Near the 200m, J. Byrne, rider of VOODOO BROWN MAGIC, was obliged to stop riding when the gelding attempted to lay in behind the heels of LENNON. VOODOO BROWN MAGIC continued to lay in over the concluding stages.

PONTIAIRE (A. Erhart) raced wide throughout.

Race 7: St Leger Class 6 Plate – 1300m

MI AMICI (K. Cunningham) shifted out shortly after the start and brushed TELETOR (K. Pope).

Near the 650m, MISS BEACHLEY attempted to shift out from behind the heels of BENRAGAZZO and in doing so made heavy contact with EVIL STARE (A. Pattillo).
