From SCTC, 10.12.07

Apprentice M. Price was fined $200 for failing to fulfil her engagement at SCTC meeting on 10 December.

Race 1: Le Rocks QTIS 2yo C&G Plate - 1000m
1st – Hebitda 2nd – Saratoga 3rd – Refescent 4th – Red Felt

RUFESCENT (J. Byrne), which cast a plate when proceeding to the barriers, required farrier attention prior to the start.

LEFT STANDING (G. Colless) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with RED FELT (M. Elliott). A short distance later, LEFT STANDING commenced to buck and lost considerable ground. A post race veterinary examination of LEFT STANDING failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer G. Heinrich was advised that LEFT STANDING must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

Near the 700m, RATTLE ‘N’ RUN (C. Spry) had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by SARATOGA (P. Wolfgram), which was taken in by STUPENDOUS (B. El-Issa).

Approaching the 600m, STUPENDOUS (B. El-Issa) shifted in, making contact with SARATOGA (P. Wolfgram). SARATOGA in turn then shifted in, momentarily tightening AUDIT (J. Sharp).

RUFESCENT, which raced wide throughout, had a tendency to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.



Race 2: Skyy Blue NMW H’cap - 1000m
1st – Leather 2nd – Doonesbury 3rd – Main Vein 4th - Goyousoandso

LACKADOSH (J. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly.

Passing the 800m, SEQUACY (Michael Palmer) had to be momentarily eased to avoid the heels of FASNATIC (R. McMahon), which shifted in.

Near the 300m, SEQUACY and DOONESBURY (S. Seamer) came together, resulting in DOONESBURY becoming unbalanced.

Near the finish line, AZZASON (M. Price) and FASNATIC (R. McMahon) came together. As a result, AZZASON became unbalanced and shifted in abruptly.

MILLIMAC (K. Banks) had difficulty obtaining clear running for the majority of the home straight.

SEQUACY raced wide throughout.



Race 3:Salinga NMW H’cap – 1300m
1st – Mashudu 2nd – Line By Line 3rd – King Leonidas 4th – Obi Park Princesse

As apprentice S. Drake was unable to claim her full allowance on FORTY EIGHT CRASH, apprentice A. Taylor was substituted as the rider of that mare. S. Drake was fined $100.

ROCKEM (K. Yoshida) and LITTLE STRANGER (S. Seamer) came together at the start.

LIFE’S SHORT (A. Pattillo) raced wide in the early stages.

ROCKEM (K. Yoshida) was inclined to lay out from after passing the 600m until shortly after straightening.

Passing the 400m, MASHUDU (A. Spinks) shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so made contact with LIFE’S SHORT (A. Pattillo).

BLOOMIN LOVELY (N. Thomas) raced wide for the majority of the event.

A post race veterinary examination of SO STEP IN LINE failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The club’s veterinary surgeon also reported that MOONBY NYMPH was found to be short in its action in the near fore leg. Trainer H. Page was advised that she must produce a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to its next race start.

Race 4: Lyndhurst Stud Class 6 H’cap - 1500m
1st –King Of The Nile 2nd – He’s Some Eagle 3rd – Down To Earth 4th - Bitofasmartie

Near the 1200m, MR MISTER (G. Colless) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ST LOUIS BLUE (B. El-Issa), which shifted in. B. El-Issa, rider of ST LOUIS BLUE, was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Passing the 600m, TIME AND DANDY (C. Spry) had to be steadied off the heels of ST LOUIS BLUE (B. El-Issa).

Near the 300m, KING OF THE NILE (A. Pattillo) improved up on to the heels of RAM JAM INN (K. Pope) and had to be steadied.

A post race veterinary examination of MR MISTER failed to reveal any abnormalities.


Race 5: St John Entertainment QTIS 3yo Class 6 H’cap - 1200m
1st – Swiss Ace 2nd – Hey Elvis 3rd – Another Centurion 4th – Kane Mochi

Trainer G. Heinrich was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for KANE MOCHI by the prescribed time.

Apprentice M. Price was fined $100 for failing to claim her full allowance on SCRUTINISE (M. Price).

SCRUTINISE (M. Price), which was fractious in the enclosure made contact with the fence prior to exiting the enclosure, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Trainer R. Maund will be advised that SCRUTINISE must perform satisfactorily in an official trial prior to its next race start.

INDIANA STORM (A. Pattillo) was slow to begin.

SCRUTINISE (M. Price) hung out from after passing the 900m until the winning post.

Near the 550m, HEY ELVIS (K. Wharton) shifted out and made contact with MYSTIC MOUNTAIN (C. Spry).

Shortly after straightening, ANOTHER CENTURION (S. Seamer) improved up on to the heels of MYSTIC MOUNTAIN and had to be checked.

Near the 350m, SCRUTINISE (M. Price), which had continued to lay out, shifted out, taking HEY ELVIS (K. Wharton) out on to MYSTIC MOUNTAIN, which in turn hampered ANOTHER CENTURION (S. Seamer). MORE ON THE TOE (J. Taylor), which was following was also inconvenienced.

Passing the 50m, HEY ELVIS (K. Wharton) and ANOTHER CENTURION (S. Seamer) brushed.

STATURE (K. Banks) and MYSTIC MOUNTAIN raced wide throughout.

A post race veterinary examination of SAMS EXPRESS revealed the gelding to be suffering from heat stress.

SWISS ACE lost its off hind plate in running.


Race 6: Rosemount Diamond Label 2MW H’cap – 1300m
1st – Master Denis 2nd – Poiym 3rd – Fine Cheval 4th – Frisco’s Vision

Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer G. Yorke for his failure to declare a rider for KAORU SQUARE by the prescribed time.

Shortly after the start, FRISCO’S VISION (S. Seamer) was buffeted between DANEFUL (M. Heagney), which shifted in, and MR DOYLE (T. Pannell), which shifted out.

Passing the 800m, POIYM (R. McMahon) shifted out, forcing TELEGRAND (J. Taylor) and STOOD UP (A. Taylor) wider on the track. TELEGRAND and STOOD UP were then both obliged to race wide for the remainder of the race.

Near the 300m, KAORU SQUARE (Y. Fujimoto), which went amiss near the 300m, shifted out abruptly, hampering TELEGRAND. KAORU SQUARE was subsequently euthanased by the club’s veterinary surgeon on humane grounds.

On the winning post, NEVADA GAMBLER (M. Radecker) shifted out and made contact with TELEGRAND.


Race 7: Seppelt Wines Quality H’cap - 1200m
1st – Mitani 2nd – Yass River 3rd – Black Ink 4th – Natural Destiny

On return to scale a protest was lodged by jockey R. McMahon, rider of the 5th placegetter, GENERAL PATTON, against NATURAL DESTINY being declared 4th, alleging interference over the final 200m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned, stewards were satisfied that whilst NATURAL DESTINY had shifted out slightly impeding GENERAL PATTON, they were not satisfied that this had any material effect on the finishing positions of the relevant horses and the protest was dismissed and correct weight was subsequently semaphored on the Judge’s placings.

On jumping away, TESTAFIABLE (J. Taylor) and BLACK INK (J. Byrne) were placed in restricted room between DAMIGOS (K. Wharton) and NATURAL DESTINY (S. Treweek), which shifted out.

In the early stages of the straight, YASS RIVER had difficulty obtaining clear running.

NATURAL DESTINY was forced to race wide throughout.

A post race veterinary examination of NATURAL DESTINY revealed the horse to be showing signs of soreness in the off foreleg. Trainer G. Yorke advised that the horse may be sent for a spell.


Race 8: The Prop House Class 6 4you & Up Plate – 1200m
1st – Ghetto Blaster 2nd – Quizzical Lady 3rd – Cognisant 4th – Decerto

COGNISANT was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon prior to the race and cleared to start.

WAY OFF (K. Wharton) was slow to begin.

Leaving the 600m, NEPRO (S. Drake) became unbalanced when racing in restricted room inside of COGNISANT (B. El-Issa), which shifted in slightly.

TAABINGA LASS (A. Taylor) and COGNISANT (B. El-Issa) raced wide throughout.
