A post-race veterinary examination of MY RACING HEART, which compounded in the home straight, revealed the mare to have a mild respiratory discharge. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness, including the results of an endoscopic examination, must be provided prior to the horse’s next start.
Race 2: FORREST & JUNGLE IPG C,G&E MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000m
1st – The Best 2nd – Dark Charger 3rd – Baby Rasy 4th – All Taken
The start of this race was delayed to enable track staff to replace a divot in the section of track near the 600m that was brought to the attention of the starter by rider K. Banks.
WHAT DO YOU WANT (J. Bowditch) began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition, resulting in the rider becoming unbalanced.
THE BEST (A. Mundy) began awkwardly and made contact with NOT DECLARED (B. Looker).
Near the 900m DARK CHARGER (P. Wolfgram) shifted in tightening the running of NOT DECLARED, which in turn shifted in and made contact with THE BEST.
THE BEST commenced to hang out from a point leaving the 600m and had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the straight when awkwardly placed behind the heels of WHAT DO YOU WANT.
A post-race veterinary examination of DARK CHARGER revealed the gelding to be slightly shin sore. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness for DARK CHARGER must be produced prior to its next start.

Race 5: PLATYPUS GRAPHICS C,G&E MAIDEN PLATE - 1200m

SIR SLIPPER (L. Finlay) and ALJAZEERA (S. Drake) both overraced during the early stages.
EPIC TERRA (G. Colless) and MYSTIC MAHAL brushed leaving the 200m.
When questioned, jockey C. Munce was unable to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of ATRANI. Trainer B. Guy’s stable representative, Mr S. Hammersley, was disappointed with the performance and indicated that the horse would now be stepped up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination of ATRANI revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Mr Hammersley was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness for ATRANI must be produced prior to its next start.
Race 6: FUJI XEROX F&M CLASS 3 H’CAP - 1200m

LIFE TO THE MAX (C. McIver) was tightened on jumping away between ABU DHABI GOLD (J. Byrne) and DONT CALL ME CRAZY (N. Tomizawa), both of which shifted ground.
MEDECIS GEM (P. Schmidt) began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with EVENING VISION (N. Thomas).
UNREFUSEABLE (P. Keane) was slow to begin.
Stewards sought an explanation from jockey J. Byrne regarding the disappointing performance of ABU DHABI GOLD. J. Byrne stated that although the horse raced in a forward position as expected, it never felt comfortable throughout the race and leaving the 600m when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of ABU DHABI GOLD revealed no abnormalities.
Stewards questioned jockey N. Thomas regarding the disappointing performance of EVENING VISION. Jockey Thomas stated that he felt that something was amiss with the mare and for this reason over the final 100m he retired the horse out of the event. N. Thomas was reprimanded for failing to report to stewards immediately following the event anything that may have had an effect on the horse’s running in the race. A post-race veterinary examination of EVENING VISION revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg. Connections will be advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness for EVENING VISION must be produced prior to its next start.

POLITELY (P. Keane) began awkwardly and lost ground.
Near the 1000m RED MOHICAN (J. Taylor) was tightened for room between TUSCON RAIN (T. Bell) and BUSTOPHER JONES (M. Hellyer), which shifted in. Apprentice M. Hellyer was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. A short distance after this incident RED MOHICAN then commenced to overrace when awkwardly placed at the heels of TEN SECONDS (D. Browne).
TUSCON RAIN was held up for clear running for a short distance on entering the straight.
RED MOHICAN bled from both nostrils during the event. As the was the first occasion on which the gelding had bled, trainer G. Cornish was advised that, under the provisions of AR. 53A(4), the horse will incur a mandatory three month bar from racing and must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward prior to resuming racing.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of PIXIU, the only tangible explanation jockey C. Munce could put forward was that the horse did not handle the prevailing track conditions. Stewards intend to interview trainer B. Guy at a later date regarding the matter. A post-race veterinary examination of PIXIU revealed no abnormalities.
