SUPPLEMENTARY:

As E. Wilkinson was stood down by the Club’s doctor following the running of Race 2 stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: AIRASIA.COM QTIS 3YO H’CAP - 1200m
1st – Emmalene 2nd – Another Superior 3rd – Dorchester 4th – Morning Captain

MISS LEIBERT was declared a late scratching at 8.32 a.m. due to the track downgrade.

The start of this race was delayed approximately 7 minutes due to the ambulance being delayed travelling to the racecourse.

KELBENJAR reared as the start was effected dislodging its rider E. Wilkinson. Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to view the video footage to ascertain whether KELBENJAR had been afforded the opportunity of a fair start. After hearing evidence from starter Mr S. Ehlers and jockey E. Wilkinson stewards were satisfied the horse had been afforded the opportunity of a fair start and correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings. Trainer N. McCall was advised that a further barrier certificate will be required before KELBENJAR again races.

VINTAGE MOSS (A. Pattillo) and SHADOW PRINCESS (N. Thomas) brushed on jumping away.

Approaching the 900m MACCA’S EXPRESS (J. Byrne) had to be steadied when improving onto the heels of ANOTHER SUPERIOR (App T. Bell) and shifted in making contact with VINTAGE MOSS, causing that horse to become unbalanced.

Near the 150m DORCHESTER (App P. Keane) became unbalanced when VEYSONNAZ (C. Munce) shifted in momentarily.

Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a “heavy 8” retrospective.

Race 2: CISCO QTIS 2YO COLTS & GELDINGS PLATE - 1000m
1st – Noogoora Burr 2nd – Dansonate 3rd – Royal Jester 4th – Magic Twist

ROYAL JESTER (G. Colless) and GAY DECEIVER (J. Byrne) both jumped awkwardly and missed the start.

Near the 700m MODERN WARFARE (B. Stewart) and BALTORO (App L. Rolls) were tightened for room and lost their positions between SILKEN ENDURANCE (J. Taylor), which was taken in by HOLEY GADOLEY (M. Radecker) and MAGNIFY (Matthew Palmer) and NOOGOORA BURR (C. Munce), which were taken out by BURLEIGH HEADS (L. Cassidy) when that horse hung out despite the efforts of its rider.

BURLEIGH HEADS continued to hang out making the home turn awkwardly. Trainer B.W. Hill was advised that BURLEIGH HEADS will be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to race again.

SILKEN ENDURANCE lost its off hind plate in running.

Race 3: COMSCENTRE QTIS 2YO FILLIES PLATE - 1000m
1st – Never Despair 2nd – What A Gal 3rd – Chikabi 4th - Anjuree

WRITE CHEEK (G. Colless) and ANJUREE (B. Stewart) were both slow to jump.

Shortly after the start SIERRA RAPID (App M. Hellyer) shifted in on 2 occasions making heavy contact with CASUAL CONNECTIONS (App B. Looker).

PREFECT (L. Cumberland) hung out rounding the home turn.

WHAT A GAL (P. Hammersley) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and had difficulty obtaining clear running until leaving the 200m.

CHIKABI (J. Taylor) had a tendency to lay in under pressure over the final 300m.

Near the 250m CROWN OF COUREUSE (Matthew Palmer) was crowded for room by PREFECT, which shifted in under pressure.

Leaving the 200m N. Thomas the rider of REFINED OPTION dropped his whip.

A post race veterinary examination of WRITE CHEEK revealed the filly to be shin sore in both fore legs. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required prior to WRITE CHEEK again racing.

Race 4: AUSTRALIAN FINANCIAL ADVISERS QUALITY H’CAP - 1300m
1st – Fillydelphia 2nd – Mr Slick 3rd – Hour Of Peril 4th – Anchor Bolt

LISTEN SON was declared a late scratching at 8.32 a.m. due to the track downgrade.

MR SLICK (P. Hammersley) was slow to begin.

Leaving the 600m EQUISSENTIAL (J. Taylor) appeared to falter in the going.

App A. Butler advised he was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance of POOR JUDGE. App Butler stated that after being able to set a steady pace during the early and middle stages he was disappointed with the horse’s effort when placed under pressure. App Butler further added that the performance may have been affected by the short backup, rain affected track and the horse’s weight of 59 kilos. Trainer W. Nugent confirmed his disappointment with the horse’s performance and agreed with the assessment of App Butler regarding the matter. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination. Trainer W. Nugent undertook to advise stewards of any development that may come to light that may have been a contributing factor to the disappointing performance.

Race 5: BUNDABERG DISTILLING CO CLASS 6 H’CAP - 2200m
1st – Scarlett Jo 2nd – Loves A Challenge 3rd – Shezahotshot 4th – No Shackles

SAM’S TOWN was declared a late scratching at 1.15 p.m. due to the track downgrade.

Correct weight was delayed to enable L. Cassidy the rider of LOVES A CHALLENGE and trainer B. Smith the opportunity to view the photo image. After examination correct weight was given as semaphored by the judge.

TUSCANY VIEW (G. Colless) refused to jump and took no part in the race. Connections were advised that the horse would be required to pass a further barrier test before again racing.

SCARLETT JO (C. Munce) was slow to jump.

BITASILK (App A. Butler) after being caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward and was able to obtain a position in the lead near the 1400m.

When questioned regarding his riding tactics adopted on CASTLEMAGNE KING, particularly rounding the home turn, App T. BELL explained that the horse settled well midfield as per his instructions however, approaching the 600m the horse had a tendency to lay in and as he approached the home turn he was reluctant to search for a run wider on the track as he may have been forced to travel 7 wide and therefore elected to follow through despite initially being held up. App Bell added that when able to position the horse into clear running near the 200m he could not fully test his mount due to it wanting to lay in. His explanation was noted.

The off hind bandage of CRIMSON FIRE (L. Cumberland) came undone during running and was dislodged prior to the finish line. Trainer E. Hayes was advised to ensure that bandages are secure and stitched in accordance with the requirements.

Race 6: WALSH HALLIGAN DOUGLAS LAWYERS OPEN H’CAP - 1800m
1st – Racing Heart 2nd – Chilled 3rd – Timetable 4th - Falontino

Following the seemingly disappointing performance of EASTLINE trainer’s representative D. Gay indicated that after discussing the performance with trainer J. Morrisey he may recommend to connections that the horse be spelled. Jockey L. Cassidy was unable to offer any tangible explanation. A post race veterinary examination of EASTLINE failed to revealed any abnormalities.

Race 7: AVANT GARDE RECRUITMENT FILLIES & MARES QUALITY H’CAP – 1500m
1st – Lucky Dubai 2nd – Famina Fashion 3rd – Win A Million 4th – Wonderful Lass

KORANOVSKY was declared a late scratching at 8.32 a.m. due to the track downgrade.

LUMINOUS HARMONY was declared a late scratching at 10.15 a.m. due to the track downgrade.

FLEET RIANE (R. Wiggins) and VIPERA GOLD (App M. Hellyer) both overraced in the early stages.

Near the 100m SAILOR SAM (L. Cassidy) was tightened for room when racing to the inside of WONDERFUL LASS (App T. Bell), which shifted in.

When questioned as to his riding of WONDERFUL LASS, in particular rounding the home turn, App T. Bell explained that he did not anticipate a run between WIN A MILLION (P. Hammersley) and LUCKY DUBAI (J. Byrne) and rather than risk being held up he shifted to the inside of LUCKY DUBAI in an effort to gain clear running. As a result WONDERFUL LASS was held up for clear running near the 400m.

Race 8: BACK TO THE NORMANBY HOTEL BENCHMARK 85 H’CAP - 1200m
1st – Streets Away 2nd – G’Day Old Mate 3rd – Just Been Lucky 4th – God’s Window

CARIAD was declared a late scratching at 8.32 a.m. due to the track downgrade.

FITNESS FANATIC was declared a late scratching at 10.45 a.m. due to the track downgrade.

REDESSI and LIFEBUOY were declared a late scratching at 1.15 p.m. and 3.55 p.m. respectively due to the track downgrade.

STREETS AWAY (G. Colless) was slow to begin.

A short distance after the start STREET STALL (App M. Hellyer) was cramped for room between G’DAY OLD MATE (J. Taylor) and CHARTER BOAT (App P. Keane), which was taken out by D’JET (B. Stewart).

Approaching the 1000m G’DAY OLD MATE was tightened for room when racing to the inside of NICKIERA (Matthew Palmer), which was taken in by GOD’S WINDOW (P. Hammersley). P. Hammersley the rider of GOD’S WINDOW was reprimanded for allowing his horse to shift in at that point when insufficiently clear of NICKIERA.
