Race 1: SIRROMET LOVE SPARKLING QTIS 2YO - 1000m
1st – Real Surreal 2nd – Dalton 3rd – She’s A Danica 4th – Aquator
POUND ON TUBBY (M. Vance) knuckled at the start.
VALHALLA MIST (A. Spinks) jumped awkwardly and shifted in abruptly making heavy contact with TORNADO MISS (M. Cahill), which in turn was taken in on to ENZO’S MISTRESS (J. Byrne), which contacted POUND ON TUBBY heavily.
At the same stage JOLIE MADELEINE (M. Hellyer) was taken out by BAZZA’S BID (L. Cassidy) and made heavy contact with POUND ON TUBBY.
SHE’S A DANICA (T. Harrison) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out making contact with DALTON (J. Taylor).
JOLIE MADELEINE, ENZO’S MISTRESS and TORNADO MISS raced wide throughout.
Passing the 700m when J. Taylor (DALTON) restrained his mount, SHE’S A DANICA, which was trailing and overracing, had to be checked to avoid that runner’s heels.
After passing the 600m AQUATOR (J. Lloyd), when overracing, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of SHE’S A DANICA.
Leaving the 600m TORNADO MISS shifted out away from REAL SURREAL (Matthew Palmer) when that runner shifted out to improve.
AQUATOR had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight and was obliged to alter course, and approaching the 200m shifted to the outside of JOLIE MADELEINE in order to improve.
SHE’S A DANICA was held up for clear running in the home straight until approaching the 200m.
Near the 100m AQUATOR shifted out and brushed ENZO’S MISTRESS.
A post-race veterinary examination of BAZZA’S BID revealed no significant findings.
A post-race veterinary examination of ENZO’S MISTRESS revealed no significant findings.
The veterinary surgeon reported that JOLIE MADELEINE sustained a wound on the near hind coronet, consistent with being galloped on.
Race 2: WINNING EDGE PRESENTATIONS BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP - 1000m
1st – Power Of Ed 2nd – Accelero 3rd – Devils Melody 4th – Encinitas
When asked to explain the performance of WESTERN SHADOW, apprentice T. Harrison stated that the gelding is best suited when able to lead and control the tempo of the race, and once ACCELERO (J. Stanley) crossed to the lead near the 600m WESTERN SHADOW immediately began to give ground and weakened in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of WESTERN SHADOW revealed no significant findings.
Apprentice M. Vance reported that REVITALISE was unable to sprint when the tempo quickened from the 600m, which she attributed to the big weight today and being first up over an unsuitable distance. Apprentice Vance added that she was of the opinion that REVITALISE will take a fitness benefit from today’s race and will be better suited in races over a further distance than that of today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination of REVITALISE revealed no significant findings.
Race 3: MITTYS 0MW H’CAP - 1200m
1st – Vintage Moss 2nd – Stradon 3rd – Accidental 4th – Hodgie And Mo

1st – Equissential 2nd – Longshoreman 3rd – Bevico Girl 4th – Mr Orient
RAISE UP was a late scratching at 12.50 p.m. by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice that the mare had swelling to both hind legs and fetlocks.
The start of this race was delayed when VOLKHERE (Matthew Palmer) became fractious in the barriers and momentarily became cast. VOLKHERE was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
LONGSHOREMAN (E. Wilkinson) was slow to begin.
TUNAHOG (M. Vance) overraced in the early stages.
When asked to explain the disappointing performance of VOLKHERE, rider Matthew Palmer stated that the gelding travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, however when the pace increased from the 600m the horse was immediately under pressure. He added that VOLKHERE had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn and did not respond to his riding in the home straight. Trainer R. Heathcote was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the disappointing performance and advised that he will have veterinary tests carried out on gelding in the coming days, the results of which he will forward to stewards. A post-race veterinary examination of VOLKHERE revealed the gelding to have minor lacerations on both hind pasterns and had sprung its near fore plate. A routine swab sample was taken from VOLKHERE.
M. Cahill reported that he had no specific instructions on BEVICO GIRL, however the mare began well and he was hopeful of obtaining cover in the early stages behind VOLKHERE, but at that stage he was unable to secure this position as TUNAHOG had improved to his inside and as he was forced to race three wide, when the pace steadied he elected to ride forward and obtain the lead.

ANGEL’S DESTINY was held up for clear running from the 300m until near the 200m where the rider was obliged to alter course in order to improve. ANGEL’S DESTINY was again disappointed for clear running approaching the 100m when it improved on to the heels of the tiring TOP RADA (G. Goold).

SANTO DE LAGO (J. Lloyd) overraced in the early stages.
Approaching the 200m GHOSTNTHEDARKNESS and PRIMED were inconvenienced when tightened for room between PURFECTRESS and WRITER (A. Coome), which shifted out to improve.
M. Cahill reported that PURFECTRESS did not feel comfortable in its action during the preliminary and for this reason he requested the veterinary surgeon to inspect the horse when he arrived at the barriers. Jockey Cahill added that he would have liked to have maintained a position on PURFECTRESS midfield, however the mare was unable to muster any speed in the early stages and as a result settled at the rear of the field. He further added that once he was able to bring the mare to the outside in the home straight it worked to the line strongly, but after passing the winning post he was again concerned with the mare’s actions. A post-race veterinary examination of PURFECTRESS revealed the mare to be striding short in front. Trainer N. Doyle will be interviewed regarding this matter.

B. Looker reported that NO WIN NO WINE did not sprint as expected when placed under pressure in the home straight and in his opinion may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer H. Donnelly indicated that the mare would now be sent for an immediate spell.
A post-race veterinary examination of TICKLED, which compounded badly in the home straight, revealed the gelding to be exhibiting a cough. Trainer M. Dunn intends to have the gelding scoped and will provide the results to stewards.
