From Sunshine Coast 14.3.13 – Race 9: Trainer Brooke Sutton has advised stewards that a subsequent veterinary examination of her horse DIXIE FLYER revealed the mare to have pulled stomach muscles. Ms Sutton confirmed her intention to send the horse for a short spell.

From Ipswich 15.3.13 – Race 6: A. Spinks was fined $100 for failing to notify stewards that he was ill and unable to fulfil his engagement on JONDY TAAN.

Race 1: AMBASSADOR TRAVEL BRISBANE BLOODSTOCK BONUS QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1000m

The start of this race was delayed to hold for an interstate event.

NYANDA CROSSING (A. Spinks) and DRAGON MASTER (J. Stanley) bumped on jumping.

Near the 700m MON VIA VITA (L. Morrison) was tightened for room between OOSTHUIZEN (D. Hayse) and DRAGON MASTER, which was inclined to hang out during the middle stages of the race.

OOSTHUIZEN raced wide throughout.

FINGERS (D. Green) hung out rounding the home turn.

Approaching the 100m DRAGON MASTER shifted out under pressure and brushed MON VIA VITA.

Race 2: SKY RACING BRISBANE BLOODSTOCK BONUS QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1000m

Prior to riders weighing out for this event, jockey D. Missen was stood down from his engagements after being examined by the Club doctor, and riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

The start was delayed after the saddle on SEQUALEX (R. Goltz) shifted during the preliminary, after the colt became fractious, requiring SEQUALEX to be resaddled. Upon arriving at the barriers, SEQUALEX underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the race.

PETA PUMPKINEATER (M. McKenzie) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start ROL’N ROBI (A. Spinks) commenced to buck before being restrained out of the race. Trainer L. Wheeler was advised that ROL’N ROBI must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial or obtain two further barrier certificates prior to being permitted to race again.

Near the 800m STORM FIGHTER (L. Rolls) had to be eased to avoid the heels of ALONDRA (D. Hayse), which was taken in by SEQUALEX.

ALONDRA raced wide throughout.

SAGA’S GIFT (L. Morrison) was held up rounding the home turn, then raced very greenly in the home straight and leaving the 300m shifted out abruptly, inconveniencing SIR PRANG (T. Treichel).

SEQUALEX hung out severely rounding the home turn and as a result failed to take any competitive part in the race from that point onwards. A post-race veterinary examination of SEQUALEX revealed superficial lacerations to both hind legs, consistent with being galloped on. Trainer T. Gollan’s stable representative was advised that due to the pre-race manners and racing manners of SEQUALEX, the colt must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again.

THREESCOREANDTEN (E. Wilkinson) raced greenly in the home straight and near the 200m shifted out and inconvenienced PETA PUMPKINEATER.

Race 3: XXXX GOLD F&M MAIDEN H’CAP - 1400m

ZIPS A DAISY (J. Stanley) and CHOIRS (A. Holt) were slow to begin.

DANE MARGOT (A. Merritt) overraced in the middle stages.

DELUSIVE (R. Goltz) was held up rounding the home turn.

When questioned as to the performance of CHOIRS, apprentice A. Holt stated that the mare failed to quicken as anticipated when straightening and in his view was disappointing. Apprentice Holt noted that it had been a number of weeks since CHOIRS had last started due to the recent poor weather and he was of the view that the mare may take benefit from today’s run.

Race 4: BOLLINGER BENCHMARK 80 H’CAP - 1200m

RELEASED (T. Wolfgram) began awkwardly.

When questioned as to the disappointing performance of CRAZY MAMMA, apprentice J. Johnson stated that after jumping away she rode the mare forward in an attempt to take up its customary forward position, however she was unable to take up her intended position as KUMALI (L. Morrison) was positioned to her inside, which resulted in her having to steady and come away from KUMALI in the early stages. Apprentice Johnson further added that she was therefore obliged to race three wide without cover for the entire race as she was reluctant to press forward to take up a position closer to the fence as she was concerned that this would require her to make too much use of her mount. Trainer B. Guy agreed with the comments of apprentice Johnson. Whilst noting the comments of both apprentice Johnson and Mr Guy, stewards were of the view that apprentice Johnson should have been more positive in the early stages of the race in her attempt to take up a position closer to the rail. A post-race veterinary examination of CRAZY MAMMA revealed no abnormalities.

Race 5: BUNDABERG DISTILLING CO. C,G&E MAIDEN H’CAP - 1400m

Trainer J. Thompson’s stable representative was advised that a fine of $100 would be imposed for presenting EMPEROR CASINO to race with incorrect gear.

CHIEF SEATTLE (B. Appo) began awkwardly.

BOLD DRAGON (C. Schmidt) began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SOLE ILLUSION (D. Hayse).

GRAND MARNIER (T. Treichel) raced wide throughout.

ROCK LOGIC (A. Holt) hung out in the middle stages.

BANK JOB (J. Stanley) commenced to hang out from a point leaving the 800m, resulting in jockey Stanley being unable to pressure BANK JOB rounding the home turn. BANK JOB then continued to hang out in the straight, resulting in jockey Stanley being unable to test BANK JOB at any stage in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of BANK JOB revealed the gelding to be sore over the rump and hind quarters. Trainer S. Shultz was advised that she must produce a veterinary clearance for BANK JOB prior to its next start, and prior to racing again the horse will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial.

ISTANA STAR (L. Rolls) was held up for clear running from a point leaving the 300m until near the 200m when it had to be eased as a result of being tightened for room between CHIEF SEATTLE and FLEET ANCHOR (E. Wilkinson), which was taken out by EMPEROR CASINO (Michael Palmer). Jockey M. Palmer was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Leaving the 200m GRAND DUKE (L. Morrison) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BANK JOB, which was hanging out, and as a result shifted out and inconvenienced GRAND MARNIER.

Jockey M. Palmer reported that EMPEROR CASINO blundered on jumping away, resulting in him racing further back in the field than expected.

ROCK LOGIC lost its off hind plate in running.

Race 6: COCO-COLA AMATIL CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200m

OMISSION (M. Speers) and FRAGEZEICHEN (E. Wilkinson) were slow to begin.

BUNDU BOY (B. Appo) began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped BRAVE PALATINSK (J. Johnson). As a result, BUNDU BOY was taken back in on to OMISSION.

WINDSPLITTER (S. Payne) began awkwardly.

HOT ICE (A. Holt) was tightened for room shortly after the start between SIPPIN’BUNDY (J. Stanley) and PURRINGA (M. McKenzie), both of which shifted ground.

CONHENRI (T. Wolfgram), WINDSPLITTER, PURRINGA, BRAVE PALATINSK and FRAGEZEICHEN raced wide throughout.

L. Morrison, the rider of VICTORIA NILE (L. Morrison), pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 1000m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of DARK CHARGER (T. Jeffries), resulting in that runner being checked and shifting in tightening the running of EDDIE BIDDER BOY (Michael Palmer), which was racing back and to the inside of DARK CHARGER. L. Morrison’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, to commence at midnight on Sunday, 24 March, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 7 April 2013.

Leaving the 600m MY KING OATH (T. Treichel) had to be eased when tightened for room between VICTORIA NILE (L. Morrison) and CONHENRI, which shifted in. Apprentice T. Wolfgram was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Leaving the 600m PLATINUM MINT (R. Jamieson) shifted out and bumped BRAVE PALATINSK, which in turn was taken out on to FRAGEZEICHEN.

Approaching the 500m PLATINUM MINT was disappointed for a run when attempting to improve to the inside of HOT ICE. PLATINUM MINT was then held up for clear running until a point near the 200m.

HOT ICE was held up for clear running approaching the 200m and was then disappointed for a run to the inside of MY KING OATH before being able to obtain clear running over the final stages.

PURRINGA was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and when attempting to improve to the outside of WINDSPLITTER leaving the 400m, inconvenienced both BRAVE PALATINSK and FRAGEZEICHEN.

Apprentice A. Holt (HOT ICE) was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the finish line.

Post-race veterinary examinations of FRAGEZEICHEN and WINDSPLITTER revealed no significant findings.

Race 7: CHANNEL SEVEN CLASS 4 H’CAP - 1400m

BUSY DOIN’ NOTHIN’ (R. Jamieson) and EASY LAGER (M. Speers) were slow to begin.

Approaching the 1200m OSCARMANIA (Michael Palmer) had to be eased when tightened for room between RING ME RUBY (L. Rolls) and JAM FANCY (M. McKenzie), which shifted in. Apprentice M. McKenzie was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

BUFFETT (E. Wilkinson) overraced in the early stages and leaving the 1200m had to be eased from the heels of I’LL TAKEMANHATTAN (C. Schmidt) when the pace slackened. As a consequence BUFFETT shifted out abruptly, taking TRICKING (L. Morrison) wider on the track.

Approaching the 1100m RING ME RUBY and OSCARMANIA had to be steadied when tightened for room by SLYSERA (B. Appo), which shifted in and away from ST ANDREWS (B. Richardson). OSCARMANIA then overraced for some distance thereafter.

TRICKIN, MR TRACEY (A. Butler) and EASY LAGER raced wide throughout.

Leaving the 300m BUSY DOIN’ NOTHIN lost its nearside winker.

EASY LAGER was held up for a short distance leaving the 300m.

Race 8: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB CLASS 1 H’CAP - 1500m

PARTY TRICKS (T. Treichel) began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped MISSAMORK (M. Gray), and shortly thereafter both PARTY TRICKS and MISSAMORK were tightened for room between LUCKY DAY KID (E. Wilkinson) and ROUGE ROI (Michael Palmer), which was taken in by LADY’S COMMAND (T. Wolfgram). In this incident PARTY TRICK lost ground.

BACK TO ABILENE (S. Payne) and NOBLE GAME (B. Appo) were slow to begin.

Near the 1400m MISSAMORK had to be eased when tightened for room by BELVEDERE BLAST (M. Speers), which shifted in. Jockey Speers was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. MISSAMORK then commenced to overrace at heels for a considerable distance and approaching the 1200m when placed awkwardly at the heels of BELVEDERE BLAST shifted out abruptly resulting in ZIGURAT (J. Stanley) having to be checked and losing ground. When being checked, ZIGURAT then shifted out abruptly resulting in NOBLE GAME and TOP TASSEL (A. Butler) being hampered and taken wider at that point. Stewards accepted the explanation of jockey Gray that the racing manners of MISSAMORK were the cause of the interference suffered by the runners to its outside. Trainer T. White will be advised that MISSAMORK must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. Mr White will also be interviewed as to the reasons why he left the course prior to the prescribed time.

SANDY VIEW (B. Richardson), TOP TASSEL, ZIGURAT and BACK TO ABILENE raced wide throughout.

HUSH POWER (L. Rolls) overraced in the middle stages.

NOVIKOV (J. Johnson) was held up in the early stages of the home straight.
