GENERAL

As L. Cassidy was injured, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: CERTIFIED FREE RANGE BEEF MAIDEN PLATE - 1000m

Trainer L. Gough was fined $100 for failing to declare M. Speers as the rider of WENTWELL by the prescribed time.

AIR OF HEAVEN (A. Pattillo) was very slow to begin.

FASTNET HEART (M. Cahill) began awkwardly and shifted out taking HIDDEN ROSE (A. Spinks) out on to DESTINY'S TUNE (J. Byrne).

DESTINY'S TUNE raced greenly in the early stages.

ULTIMATE RUSH (P. Schmidt) and ROMAN CONFLICT (J. Morris) raced wide throughout.

N. Evans, the rider of MONDUKE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 650m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of COLD COLLECT (B. Appo), forcing that runner in across the rightful running of HIDDEN ROSE, which had to be checked and lost its position. Jockey Evans' licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings, to commence at midnight on Thursday 27 June and expire at midnight on Monday 8 July 2013.

WENTWELL (M. Speers) raced greenly in the home straight.

ULTIMATE RUSH was inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

FASTNET HEART shifted out under pressure over the final 100m.

A post-race veterinary examination of HIDDEN ROSE revealed the mare to have sustained a laceration to the medial aspect of the near fore cannon.

Race 2: HILLROSS MONTEFIORE & CO QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP - 1200m

The start of this race was delayed when OUR CLARK (A. Spinks) had to be resaddled behind the barriers.

PANYA (J. Morris) stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground.

OUR CLARKY and OUTBACK LIGHTNING (A. Butler) bumped on jumping away.

TORNADO MISS (M. Cahill) jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start JOLIE MADELEINE (T. Wolfgram) was tightened between NEUSCHWANSTEIN (R. Wiggins) and OUR EDITOR (B. Appo) which shifted in.

OUR EDITOR and TORNADO MISS raced three wide throughout.

POUND ON TUBBY (P. Schmidt) overraced during the middle stages.

Inside the 100m OUR CLARKY was eased when tightened for room between TORNADO MISS and JOLIE MADELEINE, which shifted out and away from OUR EDITOR.

Over the concluding stages JOLIE MADELEINE was steadied when tightened for room between TORNADO MISS and OUR EDITOR, which shifted out under pressure. Apprentice B. Appo (OUR EDITOR) was reprimanded.

Race 3: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB MAIDEN PLATE - 1838m

RASTEIRA (P. Hammersley) and SVETSKI (D. Browne) were both tightened for room on jumping away between NAGA VIPER (L. Cheshire) and PRIMUS MAXIMUS (M. Hellyer), which began awkwardly and shifted out.

A. Pattillo, the rider of GRAB THE JEWELS, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that near the 1500m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of PRIMUS MAXIMUS, resulting in that runner clipping the heels of GRAB THE JEWELS, blundering and losing its rightful running. PROOF RED (L. Rolls), PER MILLE (R. Wiggins) and RASTEIRA, which were following, were all hampered to varying degrees as a consequence. A. Pattillo's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 29 June and expire at midnight on Sunday 7 July 2013.

RASTEIRA raced wide throughout.

SVETSKI was held up between NAGA VIPER and PATENT PENDING (J. Byrne), both of which shifted slightly, from the 200m until inside the 100m where SVETSKI shifted to the outside of PATENT PENDING to obtain clear running.

A. Spinks reported that he was of the opinion that GENERIS HEART got its tongue over the bit during the race which had an adverse effect on its performance. A post-race veterinary examination of GENERIS HEART revealed that the gelding had sustained trauma to the left eye.

A post-race veterinary examination of PRIMUS MAXIMUS revealed the gelding to have poor post-race recovery and a slight nasal discharge.

Race 4: GALLOPERS $1 MEMBERSHIP MAIDEN H’CAP - 1400m

YASMINA (G. Cooksley) and KAINJI ROCK (R. Wiggins) were slow to begin.

During the middle stages DECIBEL DAN (A. Taylor) commenced to overrace and hung out across the heels of ROYAL REWARD (T. Bell) near the 1000m.

YASMINA improved up on to the heels of RUSSIAN LACE (J. Byrne) near the 800m and was steadied.

At the top of the straight THAT SNOW ATHLETE (M. Cahill), which was disappointed for a run between PATHETIQUE (P. Schmidt), which had commenced to weaken badly, and ROYAL REWARD, endeavoured to angle out to improve and made heavy contact with the hind quarters of ROYAL REWARD, resulting in THAT SNOW ATHLETE being disappointed for clear running until near the 200m.

CREDIT ONLY (G. Goold) was held up on the heels of PATHETIQUE from the 300m and at a point near the 200m was checked off that runner's heels and shifted out in order to improve.

G. Cooksley reported that YASMINA hung out for a major part of the race and proved difficult to ride.

Race 5: LED SUPER SCREENS F&M BM75 H’CAP - 1600m

As apprentice K. Matheson was to be overweight, apprentice A. Allen was substituted as the rider of CRAIGLEA SHERRY. Apprentice K. Matheson was fined $100.

ONLY ONE ANNIE (B. Appo) raced wide throughout.

SUZANNE (R. Jamieson) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn until approaching the 100m.

Apprentices R. Jamieson (SUZANNE) and T. Wolfgram (DANE PRINCESS) were questioned regarding the riding tactics they adopted on their respective mounts, in particular the tempo set during the early stages until DANE PRINCESS obtained the lead near the 800m. Apprentice Jamieson indicated that she had been instructed to ride the horse in a forward position, which was consistent with the way it was ridden at its most recent start, and once pressured by DANE PRINCESS approaching the 1000m, the mare commenced to overrace and for this reason she had difficulty surrendering the leading position to DANE PRINCESS. Apprentice T. Wolfgram stated that he had specific instructions to lead today. He added that after only beginning fairly, he was able to move around the main body of the field without having to do a significant amount of work, however once he challenged SUZANNE approaching the 1000m, as he had been advised that DANE PRINCESS is inclined to hang in during its races, he was carrying his whip in his right hand and when riding vigorously forward, his mount shifted in and made contact with SUZANNE which resulted in that runner overracing and making his mount work harder to cross to the lead near the 800m. Stewards further questioned T. Wolfgram regarding the amount he slowed the pace after obtaining the lead between the 800m and the 500m which resulted in SUZANNE, when overracing, being placed in an awkward position on the heels of DANE PRINCESS. Apprentice Wolfgram stated that after working hard in the early part, he attempted to reduce the speed of the race to provide DANE PRINCESS with the opportunity of finishing the race off. Apprentice Wolfgram conceded that in hindsight he may have reduced the pace of the race too quickly at that point. Stewards also advised apprentice R. Jamieson that it may have been a better option to shift to the outside of the heels of DANE PRINCESS near the 800m when the opportunity existed, bearing in mind the early work that DANE PRINCESS had to do, and the racing manners of her horse. Stewards noted the explanations and advised T. Wolfgram of his obligations in relation to excessively slowing the pace.

Race 6: HIDDEN DRAGON @ LYNDHURST C,G&E BM75 H’CAP - 1600m

Trainer H. Norman advised stewards that from the wide barrier BUSY DOIN' NOTHIN' (R. Jamieson), which usually goes back in its races, would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. The horse settled in a mid-field position.

HAITCHQUE (R. Wiggins) was tightened at the start between RELEASED (A. Butler) and PEPPERED BLACK (M. McGuren), both of which shifted ground.

CLANGOR (K. Matheson) was tightened at the start between SIR STANLEY (M. Hellyer) and KISS ME DEADLY (T. Bell), which shifted in.

STARGRILL BOY (G. Cooksley) and LEE HO FOOK (P. Hammersley) were slow to begin.

STARGRILL BOY raced wide throughout.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the reasons for STARGRILL BOY falling approaching the 400m, dislodging jockey G. Cooksley. After taking evidence from T. Bell (KISS ME DEADLY), apprentice R. Jamieson (BUSY DOIN' NOTHIN'), apprentice B. Appo (ALKIORI) and P. Hammersley (LEE HO FOOK), stewards adjourned the inquiry to a time and date to be fixed to allow jockey Cooksley, who had been transported to hospital, to attend. A post-race veterinary examination of STARGRILL BOY revealed that the gelding had a superficial laceration to the near hind flexor tendon.

Over the concluding stages RELEASED improved on to the heels of DIET (P. Schmidt), which had commenced to weaken.

A post-race veterinary examination of HAITCHQUE, which raced below market expectations, revealed no significant findings. A swab sample was taken from HAITCHQUE. Stewards will interview trainer L. Birchley regarding the disappointing performance of HAITCHQUE.

Race 7: SKYRACING.TV F&M CLASS 3 PLATE - 1200m

The start of this race was delayed awaiting a replacement ambulance after jockey Cooksley had been transported to hospital.

ELUSIVE STORM (C. Whiteley) and INTERJECT (B. Appo) were both tightened at the start between SHEZ EPIC (P. Schmidt) and DARLIN' JULES (K. Matheson), which began awkwardly and shifted out.

LET'S PARTY (R. Jamieson) blundered on jumping away, shifted in and tightened the running of WITCHES LIPS (M. McGuren).

SHEZ EPIC and MOROCCAN DANCER (M. Cahill) both raced wide throughout.

ELUSIVE STORM had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight and near the 200m was inconvenienced when WITCHES LIPS shifted out abruptly. Apprentice M. McGuren (WITCHES LIPS) was advised to exercise more care.

When asked to explain the performance of AMALFI DREAMS, A. Butler stated that the mare never travelled comfortably throughout despite his vigorous riding. Trainer M. Dunn indicated that he would now apply blinkers to AMALFI DREAMS in an attempt to get it to travel better in its races.

Race 8: XXXX GOLD C,G&E CLASS 3 PLATE - 1200m

Trainer M. Dunn was fined $100 for failing to scratch TEN GAUGE by the prescribed time. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account that the horse was scratched only a short time after the 7.30 am deadline.

At the start HAVASNIP (J. Byrne) was tightened between PALPITATE (A. Allen) and EUREKA DAZZLER (P. Schmidt), which began awkwardly and shifted in.

SMASHER (M. Cahill) and MORE COLORS (B. Appo) were both slow to begin.

HAVASNIP overraced in the early and middle stages.

I'M A ZULU (P. Hammersley) and CHEVAL DU FEU (R. Jamieson) raced wide throughout.

SMASHER was held up rounding the home turn until a point approaching the 200m.

PALPITATE was held up from shortly after entering the home straight until approaching the 200m.

MORE COLORS was momentarily held up near the 300m and shifted out in order to improve and in doing so bumped HAVASNIP.

SMASHER shifted out approaching the 250m, making heavy contact with I'M A ZULU.

PALPITATE shifted out abruptly over the concluding stages, forcing PURE WHISPER (Michael Palmer) wider. Apprentice A. Allen (PALPITATE) was reprimanded.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed BARRASSIE BROTHER to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that he must produce a veterinary clearance for BARRASSIE BROTHER prior to its next start.
