TREASURE MAP shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

When asked to explain the disappointing performance of GIVE 'EM CURRY, A. Spinks stated that, in his opinion, the gelding raced flat today and attributed this to the gelding failing to handle the short back up from its most recent start. A post race veterinary examination of GIVE 'EM CURRY revealed a small laceration to the inside of the near hindleg. Connections advised it would now be sent for a spell.

A post race veterinary examination of SUPPLY AND DELIVER revealed a discharge from the off side nostril. Connections advised it would now be spelled.

BEER WITH FRIENDS (S. Sheargold) was slow to begin.

Near the 1900m, GANGSTA GEORGE hung out despite the efforts of its rider and tightened NAGA VIPER (L. Cassidy) on to the hind quarters of PER MILLE (R. Wiggins), causing NAGA VIPER to be checked and resulting in that horse losing ground.

After leaving the 800m, GANGSTA GEORGE (J. Morris) improved to the inside of SIDESHOW SUMMER (B. Richardson) where there was doubtful room. A short distance later, SIDESHOW SUMMER shifted in slightly, causing GANGSTA GEORGE to be checked.

Spinks reported at scale DOUBLE ROSE hung out making the first turn and as a result he allowed the gelding to stride forward, however DOUBLE ROSE was under pressure leaving the 1000m and, in his opinion, did not back up from its previous start at Ipswich on Friday, 19 July. A post race veterinary examination of DOUBLE ROSE failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer L. Ross reported in days following the event that the mare had recovered well, and that he would continue with plans for another run, before considering a spell.

JOHN'S SPECIAL (M. Hellyer) was tightened for room at the start between CRYON and NOT TO SHARE (P. Holmes), both of which shifted ground.

L. Cassidy advised that, in his opinion, SEA TRYST was not suited to the distance of today's event as the gelding was doing its best work over the concluding stages. He added that SEA TRYST was not entirely comfortable in the rain affected track conditions, and also recommended to connections to consider adding winkers to the horse's gear as the horse was inclined to lay out throughout.

L. Cassidy, rider of SEA TRYST, dropped his whip near the 150m.

Over the concluding stages, CRYON (R. Jamieson) shifted out under pressure. R. Jamieson, rider of CRYON was advised to stop riding and straighten in similar circumstances.

After returning to scale on the winner MANICERO, A. Holt recorded at scale a weight which indicted he had only claimed 2 kilograms of his 3 kilogram claim in this event. After taking evidence from apprentice Holt, the Clerks of Scale, Mr G. Tozer and Mr C. Albrecht, stewards were satisfied that apprentice Holt had weight out claiming 2 kilograms of his allowed 3 kilograms claim, which is his advertised riding weight. They were satisfied that this was in contrast to what had been advertised on the on-course broadcast and stewards ruled that the results would be altered to reflect this. Following this inquiry, a report will be forwarded to Racing Queensland's Chief Steward.

Connections advised that REGAL SHOW would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Following the event, jockey R. He added that after rounding the home turn, REGAL SHOW initially responded to his riding, however was disappointing from the 300m onwards. He further stated that, in his opinion, the horse did not appreciate the soft racing surface. Following the event, trainer R. Heathcote advised stewards of his disappointment in the overall performance of REGAL SHOW, however added that he agreed with jockey Wiggins that the horse may not have appreciated the rain affected conditions, and after today's performance he would have blood tests carried out and would consider sending the horse for a short break. A post race veterinary examination of REGAL SHOW failed to reveal an significant abnormalities. And a swab sample was taken. Mr Heathcote reported in days following the event that a veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from a muscle tear in the hind quarters, and advised stewards that the colt would now be sent for an immediate spell.

Stewards questioned apprentice A. Butler and trainer D. Murphy regarding the tactics adopted on WISHMORE when rounding the home turn and for the first 200m of the home straight. Apprentice Butler explained that he was under instructions to improved the gelding's position and increase speed without placing it under full pressure in the early part of the straight. He added that after afforded clear running at the 200m, he rode vigorously and the gelding found the line well. Trainer D.
