SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Eagle Farm 2.11.13 – Race 2: Trainer P. Duff reported that OUR ROCK O'REILLY had pulled up shin sore and will now be sent for an immediate spell.

GENERAL

Apprentice A. Allen was reprimanded for failing to produce a letter of authority.

Race 1: KEDRON-WAVELL SERVICES CLUB BM85 H’CAP - 2200m

BOREHOLE (L. Tarrant) overraced in the middle stages.

When asked to explain the performance of VOLKHERE, apprentice A. Holt stated that the gelding travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, however when the pace quickened from the 800m, VOLKHERE was left flat-footed. A. Holt added that VOLKHERE sustained a short sprint soon after straightening, however peaked on its run over the final 250m. Trainer R. Heathcote's stable representative advised that in his view it would have been a better option for apprentice Holt to allow VOLKHERE to stride forward in the early stages and sit outside of MAJOR GENERAL, which would have resulted in apprentice Holt being able to dictate the tempo of the race. A post-race veterinary examination of VOLKHERE revealed no significant findings.

Race 2: SALT DESIGN QTIS 2YO FILLIES H’CAP - 1000m

Correct weight was delayed to enable apprentice G. Goold, the rider of 3rd placegetter WICKED TEMPTATION, to view the stewards' patrol film to ascertain whether he had grounds to lodge an objection against 2nd placegetter STORMING PLEASURE (R. McMahon) for an incident over the final 300m. After viewing the videos, apprentice Goold declined to lodge an objection and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored.

KAI HAYYLER (B. Stewart), EMOTIONS IN MOTION (C. Munce) and STORMING PLEASURE were all slow to begin.

ROYAL PARLOR (M. Cahill) was inclined to lay out throughout.

Passing the 600m STORMING PLEASURE shifted out away from ASTER BLOOM (T. Harrison) and bumped BAMBINO CLEMENTINE (J. Stanley).

Leaving the 600m WICKED TEMPTATION faltered, became unbalanced and lost ground. Stewards inspected this section of the track and were satisfied with its suitability for racing.

STORMING PLEASURE shifted in under pressure in the home straight.

GIRLSGOGIDDYUP (G. Colless) raced greenly under pressure over the final 400m.

KAI HAYYLER broke down over the concluding stages. A veterinary examination of KAI HAYYLER revealed it to have fractured its near hind leg and it was euthanased on humane grounds.

M. Cahill reported that ROYAL PARLOR dipped on a number of occasions throughout the race and hung out over the final 500m.

Race 3: PAYNTER DIXON QTIS 3YO H’CAP - 1400m

Trainer L. Birchley advised that MISS SUNSET (C. Munce), which has previously been ridden in a handy position and has not been finishing its races off, would be ridden back in the field with cover if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

RANNOCH MOOR (L. Cassidy) was slow to begin.

OCTANE FLYER (K. Matheson) overraced in the early stages.

Passing the 200m OCTANE FLYER shifted in and brushed KALANDULA (M. Cahill).

Stewards sought an explanation from G. Colless regarding the disappointing performance of HOPFGARTEN. G. Colless stated that the gelding enjoyed a nice run behind the leader MISHANI CENTURION (V. Colgan) throughout, however when placed under pressure from the 500m it did not respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of HOPFGARTEN revealed no significant findings. Connections advised that HOPFGARTEN would be sent for a spell.

Race 4: COCA-COLA AMATIL 0MW H’CAP - 1000m

STRADON (R. Wiggins) was severely hampered at the start when tightened for room between WHETSTONE (V. Colgan) and MISS MEGA HERZ (S. Apthorpe), which jumped awkwardly and shifted in.

Passing the 700m WHETSTONE shifted out and bumped COUNTY COMMANDS (L. Cassidy).

Near the 600m DUMUZI (B. Stewart) put in an awkward stride and became unbalanced.

LISA FASHIONISTA (M. Cahill) raced wide throughout.

Near the 150m MOUNT KOSCIUSZKO (J. Johnson) shifted in away from LISA FASHIONISTA and bumped COUNTY COMMANDS.

LOVE ROCKS (A. Allen) shifted in under pressure over the final 100m and near the 50m dictated the line of TRAVIESO (T. Bell) on to STRADON which had to alter course to the outside of that runner. Apprentice A. Allen was advised to make a greater effort to stop riding and straighten his mounts in future.

Race 5: CLUB SUPER OPEN H’CAP - 1000m

STEEL ZIP (J. Stanley) was slow to begin and soon after the start was bumped heavily by ROCKET TO GLORY (M. Cahill), which jumped awkwardly and shifted in.

Approaching the 600m ROCKET TO GLORY commenced to hang out badly and made the home turn extremely wide. A post-race veterinary examination of ROCKET TO GLORY revealed no significant findings. Mr. J. Fleming, representing trainer T. Gollan, was advised that ROCKET TO GLORY must compete satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again.

Race 6: DWS HOSPITALITY SPECIALISTS 0MW H’CAP - 1600m

Over the concluding stages IN THE GENES (T. Harrison) was tightened for room by TAIL AND ALL (A. Holt), which was taken in slightly by CLEVER HANS (C. Schmidt). Stewards advised apprentice C. Schmidt to make a greater effort to stop riding and straighten her mounts in future to ensure the safety of her fellow riders.

When asked to explain the performance of ARCTIC, R. McMahon stated that the horse settled in a position with cover in the second half of the field and when placed under pressure soon after straightening failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing.

Stewards questioned E. Kehoe regarding her riding of WONDERFUL JESTER in the early stages of the race and over the final 400m, particularly her vigour on the gelding. E. Kehoe stated that she was instructed to ride WONDERFUL JESTER where it was comfortable with cover and from a wide barrier she settled towards the rear of the field and approaching the 1000m, when racing to the outside of ARCTIC, she was of the opinion that that horse would shift to the rail resulting in her obtaining cover. She added that approaching that point FAINT PRAISE (V. Colgan) improved to the inside of ARCTIC which resulted in WONDERFUL JESTER racing three wide throughout the event. E. Kehoe further explained that when racing back in the field she did not improve her position from the 500m as she was of the opinion that she would be forced extremely wide so she elected to remain to the inside and save ground. E. Kehoe further explained that she placed WONDERFUL JESTER under riding after passing the 400m and the gelding dipped on a number of occasions and did not feel entirely comfortable on today's track surface and over the final 100m peaked on its run, which she attributed to racing over 1600m and not having raced for over a month. Stewards advised E. Kehoe that in their view she had erred in the early stages by not restraining WONDERFUL JESTER to the rear of the field rather than remaining three wide without cover throughout. Furthermore, stewards reminded jockey Kehoe that she should test her mounts in the home straight in a manner that does not leave herself open to query. Stewards will interview trainer J. Nikolic regarding this matter.

Race 7: MAINLAND CLASS 6 H’CAP - 1400m

HLUDOWIG (K. Wharton) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

After travelling a short distance VACALLO (B. Stewart) shifted in and bumped ALTAI WARRIOR (T. Harrison).

When the pace steadied approaching the 1000m TRICKIN (M. Vance) improved up on to the heels of REASSEMBLE (G. Goold) and shifted out, tightening the running of TAPAKEG (C. Munce), which had to be steadied when taken out towards HLUDOWIG.

EMERALD DUKE (G. Colless) raced three wide without cover throughout.

ALTAI WARRIOR was unable to secure clear running in the home straight until near the 200m.

Over the concluding stages ALTAI WARRIOR shifted to the outside of the heels of EMERALD DUKE and inconvenienced LEVIOSA (V. Colgan).

A post-race veterinary examination of TAPAKEG (C. Munce), which weakened in the home straight, revealed no significant findings.

Race 8: QUEENSLAND REEF & BEEF BM90 H’CAP - 1200m

After viewing the stewards' patrol footage, jockey L. Cassidy and trainer J. Morris made an application that OUTSTANDINGLY be declared a non-runner on the basis that it had not been afforded a fair start. After taking evidence and viewing all available videos, stewards found that OUTSTANDINGLY had not been denied a fair start and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the reason for THEFT (T. Harrison) shifting out from the heels of ACHIEVEMENTS (E. Wilkinson) approaching the 600m and making contact with SAN JOSE (G. Colless). T. Harrison explained that she was given specific instructions to obtain cover on THEFT and when ACHIEVEMENTS crossed to the lead approaching the 900m she was unable to restrain that gelding in order to maintain a trailing position behind ACHIEVEMENTS in the middle stages. Stewards will interview trainer T. Gollan regarding employing a senior rider in future starts.

Over the final 100m THEFT (T. Harrison) shifted out under pressure and brushed DE DOZEN STARS (A. Holt) on two occasions.
