Race 1: Mittys Benchmark 90 H'cap - 1800m

PRECIOUS TIME (V. Colgan) and DIENEKES (J. Johnson) were slow to begin.

After passing the 1600m, ONGOING VENTURE (E. Wilkinson) commenced to overrace and when being restrained from the heels of SOUTHERLY (T. Harrison) shifted in, tightening BEWHATYOUWANNABE (L. Nolen), which made contact with the running rail.

Approaching the 500m, BEWHATYOUWANNABE shifted out to improve and bumped ONGOING VENTURE on 2 occasions.

Nearing and rounding the home turn, DIENEKES was unable to secure clear running.

Rounding the home turn, KING KAMADA (M. Du Plessis) shifted to the outside of STELLA LANTE (G. Boss), which was weakening, resulting in BRAYROAN (C. Munce) being taken wider.

Near the 250m, T. Harrison (SOUTHERLY) accidentally dropped her whip.

MR LIGHT BLUE (J. Lloyd) raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

STELLA LANTE (G. Boss) overraced in the early and middle stages when racing 3 wide.

When asked to comment on the performance of KING KAMADA, M. Du Plessis explained his mount travelled comfortably in a rearward position and when he attempted to improve from the 700m and shift wider, the gelding was immediately under pressure and was disappointing in its finishing effort in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination of KING KAMADA failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Connections indicated they would carry out veterinary tests and report and findings to stewards.

G. Boss reported that STELLA LANTE got is tongue over the bit and because of this it didn't stretch out when placed under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination of STELLA LANTE failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and a swab sample taken.

A post race veterinary examination of MR LIGHT BLUE, which compounded badly in the home straight, failed to reveal an significant findings.


Race 2: KRA Busan The Phoenix 1400m

KELVIN THE KRUEL (B. Stewart) was slow to begin.

FIXATION (R. Wiggins) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, bumping BOUDIN BLANC (R. McMahon).

Approaching the 1000m, HOLLYWOOD BARBIE (M. Cahill) had to be checked when tightened for room by ASTER BLOOM (J. Taylor), which was inclined to shift in away from KELVIN THE KRUEL, which also shifted in when not fully clear. B. Stewart, rider of KELVIN THE KRUEL, was issued with a reprimand, however stewards acknowledged that the racing manners of ASTER BLOOM contributed to this incident.

For some distance after passing the 900m, KELVIN THE KRUEL improved to the inside of WALK TO THE BAR (J. Byrne) and made heavy contact with the hind quarters of that runner on a number of occasions and then shifted in and tightened the running of ASTER BLOOM. .

GOLDIE'S IMAGE was held up rounding the home turn and until passing the 300m.

BOUDIN BLANC shifted out abruptly approaching the winning post.

VERBIER (E. Wilkinson) raced 3 wide without cover.

FIRST RAIN (G. Boss) and FIXATION also raced 3 wide throughout.

B. Stewart, rider of KELVIN THE KRUEL, was fined $200 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

Race 3: Merlo Coffee Eagle Farm Cup – 2200m

AKZAR (B. Rawiller) was unable to improve rounding the home turn when awkwardly placed at the heels of MR O'CEIRIN (G. Boss).

MORIARTY (N. Rawiller) was held up for clear running in the home straight until after passing the 200m.

Race 4: Channel Seven Bright Shadow H'cap - 1200m

LITTLE BROWN HORSE (J. Byrne) knuckled at the start.

After travelling a short distance, SINGLE STYLE (B. Avdulla), when overracing, shifted in away from DISCREET (K. Matheson) and made heavy contact with the hind quarters of AVALADYLUCK (M. Cahill).

AVALADYLUCK overraced in the early stages.

SINGLE STYLE raced fiercely in the early and middle stages when racing 3 wide.

Near the 500m, SHE'S CLEAN (N. Rawiller) improved on to the heels of SATURN ROCK (L. Cassidy) and shifted out and made heavy contact with SARI (K. McEvoy).

SHE'S CLEAN was inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 300m.

Approaching the 200m, ZIPPITY LASS (T. Bell) shifted out under pressure and brushed LA TIKKA ROSA (B. Boss), resulting in that runner becoming unbalanced.

DISCREET (K. Matheson) raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

N. Rawiller, rider of SHE'S CLEAN, was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

G Boss was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on LA TIKKA ROSA. He stated that after consultation with trainer M. Dunn and the owners prior to mounting, he had suggested he should ride the horse in a forward manner as he felt there was no pace in the race, which was agreed upon by the owners. Mr Dunn confirmed this took place and agreed with G. Boss's suggestion.


Race 5: XXXX Gold Spear Chief H'cap - 1500m

SALUTER (B. Avdulla) overraced in the early and middle stages.

Near the 1300m, ELMANTOSH (G. Boss) had to be momentarily steadied from the heels of FERMENT (R. Wiggins), which shifted in.

Rounding the home turn, PLAYACTION (J. Taylor) shifted out and bumped SALUTER (B. Avdulla) on a number of occasions.

ELMANTOSH was held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.

Approaching the 200m, FERMENT (R. Wiggins) was disappointed for clear running between SALUTER, which was weakening, and TYPHOON RED (N. Tomizawa), which was taken in slightly by LADY ECHELON (T. Bell).

THAT'S THE ONE (T. Harrison) raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

K. McEvoy, rider of PLEIADES, reported at scale his mount never travelled well throughout the event.

C. Newitt, rider of ALDIN, was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.


Race 6: Sky Racing Queensland Guineas – 1400m

SPLENDORA (G. Boss) was slow to begin.

BODEGA NEGRA (T. Angland) overraced in the early stages.

Approaching the 1000m, AGADIR (K. McEvoy) had to be eased when tightened for room by QUEST FOR PEACE (J. Lloyd), which shifted in when not fully clear. COSTA VIVA (J. Byrne), which was trailing, also had to steady and shift wider on the track. J. Lloyd, rider of QUEST FOR PEACE, was issued with a reprimand and advised to afford his fellow riders sufficient clearance when shifting ground in future.

B. Shinn, rider of LIBERTY'S CHOICE, was found guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he allowed his mount to shift in approaching the 1000m, taking OLYMPIC ANTHEM (M. Cahill) in towards the running of SIR MOMENTS, which had to be checked. B. Shinn was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 9 June and to expire at midnight, 22 June.

Nearing the 1000m, LONGMA (D. Browne),when racing keenly, had to be steadied from the heels of JAZZ SONG (C. Newitt).

Near the 1000m, DOTHRAKI (N. Rawiller) commenced to overrace and shifted out to avoid the heels of RYKER (T. Clark), momentarily forcing HAVANA (L. Nolen) wider.

Passing the 900m, WORDPLAY (B. Avdulla), when overracing, had to be steadied from the heels of JAZZ SONG.

In the early part of the home straight, WORDPLAY was obliged to alter course to the inside of QUEST FOR PEACE in order to improve.

INTO THE RED (C. Munce) had some difficulty securing clear running from after passing the 200m until approaching the 100m.

SAFEGUARD (M. Rodd) raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

QUEST FOR PEACE and AGADIR also raced wide throughout.

COSTA VIVA raced very wide throughout.

L. Nolen reported at scale that he could offer no excuse for HAVANA shifted in under pressure on straightening. A post race veterinary examination of HAVANA revealed a minor laceration to the off-side cheek. Trainer P. Messara advised that he would scope the gelding on return to his stables and would report the results to stewards.

OLYMPIC ANTHEM lost its off hind plate in running.

Race 7: Treasury Casino & Hotel Queensland Oaks - 2400m

TERAI (K. McEvoy) had to be checked at the start when crowded for room between PARIS MATCH (N. Rawiller), which was taken out by STAR FASHION (J. Lloyd), which jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly, and SANCERRE (V. Colgan), which was taken in slightly by EXECUTE AT DAWN (M. Cahill).

EVERY FAITH (G. Boss) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 2100m, HERA (B. Avdulla) was tightened for room and made heavy contact with the running rail when SISTER SOUSS shifted in away from STAR FASHION (J. Lloyd), which was taken in slightly by PARIS MATCH (N. Rawiller), which was also taken in by KHUTULUN (B. Melham). B. Melham, rider of KHUTULUN, was issued with a reprimand, however stewards acknowledged the racing manners of SISTER SOUSS contributed to the inside. HERA continued to brush the running rail for some strides after this incident and lost considerable ground.

R. Jamieson, rider of MOON AND THE STARS, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the winning post on the first occasion she permitted her mount to shift in when not clear of SANCERRE (V. Colgan), resulting in SANCERRE having to be restrained to avoid the heels of MOON AND THE STARS and shift out across that horse's heels. R. Jamieson was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 9 June and to expire at midnight, 22 June.

After passing the winning post on the first occasion, TINTO (T. Bell) had to be steadied when tightened for room between SANCERRE and KHUTULUN, which shifted in and buffeted TINTO for some distance. Rider B. Melham, rider of KHUTULUN, was issued with a severe reprimand and advised to provide his fellow riders with sufficient racing room in similar circumstances in the future.

KHUTULUN was caught 3 wide in the early stages and as a result was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position closer to the lead near the 1600m.

Near the 1600m, SANCERRE, when overracing, had to be restrained from the heels of MOON AND THE STARS (R. Jamieson) and shifted wider.

For some distance approaching the 200m, SISTER SOUSS (R. Wiggins) was held up when awkwardly placed at the heels of RAUNCHY ROCKER (T. Clark) and then shifted out to improve when not fully clear of EXECUTE AT DAWN, resulting in that runner having to be eased. R. Wiggins, rider of SISTER SOUSS, was issued with a reprimand and advised to show far greater care when shifting ground.

T. Angland (ROCK DIVA) was fined $300 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

N. Rawiller (PARIS MATCH) was fined $500 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account jockey Rawiller's poor recent record regarding breaches of this rule.

T. Bell, rider of TINTO was fined $500 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.

T. Bell (TINTO) was also fined $500 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

A post race veterinary examination of SANCERRE revealed the filly to be in season.

A post race veterinary examination of ARABIAN GOLD revealed it to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer D. Van Dyke will be advised he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to ARABIAN GOLD racing again.

Race 8: Magic Millions QTC Cup - 1300m

STEEL ZIP was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers and cleared to start.

The start of this race was delayed when PHELAN READY refused to be loaded into the barriers and was declared a late scratching at 4.24 pm with the following deductions applicable.

5 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #12
5 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #7

Trainer J. McLachlan was advised that PHELAN READY must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next race start.

LUCKY HUSSLER (J. Taylor) was hampered soon after the start between MASTHEAD (B. Boss) and ALMA'S FURY (J. Byrne), which was taken out slightly by BENNETTA (K. McEvoy).

Approaching and passing the 800m, DOUBTFILLY (L. Cassidy), when overracing, had to be steadied from the heels of HOT SNITZEL (T. Angland).

Near the 150m, DANCES ON STARS (B. Avdulla) had to be steadied when tightened for room between STEEL ZIP (M. Du Plessis) and DOUBTFILLY, which shifted out slightly under pressure.

STEEL ZIP had difficulty securing clear running approaching the 100m and obliged to alter course to the inside of MASTHEAD in order to improve.

BLACK CASH (T. Harrison) raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

MASTHEAD (B. Boss) also raced 3 wide throughout.

MASTHEAD lost its near fore plate in running.

B. Avdulla, rider of DANCES ON STARS, reported that the gelding was disappointing and maybe feeling the effects of recent racing.
