Race 1: Goulburn Valley F&M Class 3 H'cap - 1400m
Trainer M. Dunn was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for SISTER EMMA by the prescribed time.
As no other suitable apprentice was available, permission was granted for apprentice J. Johnson to ride BUON AUSPICIO without claiming down to her declared riding weight. Apprentice J. Johnson was fined $300.
WOBBLY BOOTS – steadied when momentarily crowded near 1200m.
Race 2: Brisbane Marriott Hotel QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate - 1000m
GOTHIC MIGHT – stood flatfooted at start, losing considerable ground.
BOARD DIRECTOR – steadied soon after the start.
SUPERDUTY – overraced badly in the early stages.
FERRIGNO – overraced badly in the early stages.
ALL ASSURED – raced 3 wide without cover.
L. Cassidy was fined $100 for using his whip 1 more time than permitted under the rule.
Race 3: Sky Racing.TV QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate - 1000m
On return to scale a protest was lodged by M. Cahill, rider of the 3rd placegetter, DANSOLEI, against SOLDI DOMANI being declared 2nd alleging interference near the 200m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the stewards patrol video, stewards were of the view that although DANSOLEI was slightly inconvenienced at this stage of the race, stewards were not fully satisfied that had the interference no occurred DANSOLEI would have finished ahead of SOLDI DOMANI and therefore the protest was dismissed.
PIENKNA – rider T. Harrison was severely reprimanded for allowing her mount, which after initially being clear, to shift in when not properly clear of IRIRIKI, causing that horse, which was overracing, to be restrained.
DANSOLEI – steadied from the heels at the 600m.
HEART OF THUNDER – hung out badly rounding the home turn.
GOLUANA – weakened in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed a lump on the off side shin, was indicative of it being struck in running.
Race 4: Quest Breakfast Creek Maiden H'cap - 1000m
IN TAIWAN - checked on jumping away.
SACKFUL - steadied near 600m when awkwardly placed close to heels.
Race 5: Sequalo@Lyndhurst Maiden Plate – 1300m
As no other suitable apprentice was available, permission was granted for apprentice J. Johnson to ride QUE CEE without claiming down to her declared riding weight. Apprentice J. Johnson was fined $300.
SWEYN – slow to begin.
REAL ROCKER – overraced for some distance from the 900m.
CALEDONIA'S CALL – raced 3 wide without cover from the 900m.
NOT TO KNOW – hung out badly from the 600m and raced greenly. Trainer B. Smith was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse.
SUNDAE DREAMIN' – rider reported it felt sore in its action in front in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed it to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer was advised to provide a veterinary clearance prior to next race start.
Race 6: Gallopers Sports Club F&M Class 4 H'cap - 1200m
On return to scale a protest was lodged by C. Schmidt, rider of 3rd placegetter, STRUTTER against ROYAL LOVER being declared 2nd alleging interference between the 300m to the 200m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the film, stewards were of the view that approaching the 200m ROYAL LOVER shifted out marginally, resulting in STRUTTER being slightly inconvenienced. Stewards found that regardless of this, the way in which the horses finished off and the margin between the 2 horses, that they couldn’t be satisfied the slight interference caused to STRUTTER cost it any ground and the protest was dismissed.
LANIERI – restrained at start from the awkward draw and taken across to the running rail.
BY THE BY – raced greenly in the early stages.
Race 7: Food & Wine Raceday 30th August CG&E Class 4 H'cap - 1200m
RAMBLING ON – slow to begin. Stuck the running rail and became unbalanced near the 800m.
GREAT GAME – had difficulty securing clear running for some distance in the straight, and then near the 150m was steadied and shifted to the outside of heels to secure clear running and and bumped.
WARHOGG – bumped near 150m. Hung in in the straight.
I'M A ZULU – raced 3 wide throughout. Rider S. Payne reprimanded for using his whip one more time than permitted under the rule.
OUTBACK LIGHTNING – trainer D. Forster was fined $100 for presenting the horse, which was having its first start for the stable, without winkers, which was part of the horse's declared gear. The horse raced without winkers.
Race 8: www.BRC.COM.AU CG&E Class 3 H'cap - 1400m
ROYAL JESTER – attempted to buck for its first few strides. A warning was issued.
DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE – commenced to overrace approaching the 1000m and then had to be restrained near the 900m when awkwardly placed inside heels.
PETERBONETTI – held up for clear running in the early part of the straight.
LAUTERBRUNNEN was momentarily inconvenienced approaching the winning post.
KINGANTES – K. Wharton pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 300m he shifted out when insufficiently clear of LAUTERBRUNNEN, which had to be restrained to avoid heels. He was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 6 meetings, to commence midnight, 13 August and to expire at midnight, 22 August. In assessing penalty stewards took into account the guilty plea and his exemplary record.
The vetianary surgeon reported that EVOCATIVE had bled from both nostrils. Trainer reprsentitive S. Morrisey was advised that the gelding would be barred from racing for 3 months.
