STEWARDS REPORT – SATURDAY 14TH OCTOBER , 2000

STEWARDS:.G. WUST (CHAIRMAN), G. MACDONALD, L FRASER, N. VAGG (CADET)
WEATHER:. FINE TRACK:. GOOD

RACE 1 CLASS 6 HCP. 1300 METRES - (11 STARTERS): KING RANCHER jumped out at the start and hampered SIR SOON.

NAVARRA RAMBLER jumped in as the gates opened and hampered YOUNG NORWEGIAN.

RACE 2 CLASS 4 HCP. 1000 METRES - (8 STARTERS: MONT VUE STAR and HOST were slow to begin.

Approaching the 950 metres ENSIGN PRINCE was inclined to lay in and as a result placed pressure on LADY’S TOUCH.

RACE 3 SUPER QRIS MAIDEN HCP. 1000 METRES - (11 STARTERS): COTTON MILL was declared a late scratching at 12 Noon after that filly was injured en route to the course.

CHIEF DAHAR had to be checked by its rider at the start between ON HIS OWN and SPRITELY STYLE both of which jumped away awkwardly.

EDGEROI ANNABEL was slow to begin.

For some distance after leaving the start until inside the 850 metres MAHOGANY JET and LONE WARRIER both of which were racing greenly came together on a number of occasions.

Approaching the 650 metres LARCOM HOPE was inclined to lay out and as a result brushed JUST CLASSIC.

RACE 4 OPEN HCP, 1000 METRES - (12 STARTERS): WIDGEE GO which struck the rail behind the barriers prior to the start was examined by the club veterinarian and passed fit to race.

TRUST CARD jumped out at the start and made contact with SIGNBAH.

GANCIA SOVEREIGN jumped with its head in the air and as a result was slow to begin.

For some distance after entering the straight WIDGEE GO was held up for clear running.

Approaching the 50 metres WIDGEE GO shifted in when attempting to obtain clear running and as a result made contact with TRUST CARD. As a result of this inward pressure TRUST CARD was obliged to be steadied off the heels of TRUST CLIFF which had shifted outwards to also obtain clear running.

RACE 5 OPEN HCP. 2000 METRES - (14 STARTERS): BISCAMM knuckled over at the start.

CRANBERRY PARK jumped out and made contact with ROSE OF ARAWATTA.

BLAZING NOVA was crowded for room as the gates opened between VOLCANIC SPRARKLE and KNIGHT EYES both of which jumped awkwardly.

B Chatteris the rider of HOT DOGMA was found guilty of a charge of careless riding AR137a, in that approaching the 1800 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear resulting in GOLDEN SCROLL, BISCAMM and ROSE OF ARAWATTA all being crowded in onto VOLCANIC SPARKLE which as a result had to be checked by its rider. B. Chatteris was suspended from riding in races for a period of 2 Capricornia Racing Association meetings to commence immediately and expire after the 27/10/00. In arriving at this penalty stewards took into account B. Chatteris’ good riding record.

BISCAMM commenced to compound when placed under pressure inside the 600 metres.

Shortly after entering the straight MATTRAY had to be steadied by its rider when racing between MICK’S SLAVE and GOLDEN SCROLL which shifted out under pressure.

RACE 6 CLASS 2 HCP. 1100 METRES – (8 STARTERS): MY SAMANTHA was declared a late scratching at 1.15pm after trainer T. Sullivan reported that the mare had been injured whilst being loaded onto the float for transport to the meeting.

MAHKOTA BERSATU proved difficult to load and after being loaded the mare became extremely fractious in the barriers. As a result MAHKOTA BERSATU sustained injuries to the near side hock and was subsequently withdrawn from the event on veterinary advice. Stewards ordered deductions of 12c in the win and 12c in the place for all successful bets placed prior to the scratching of MAHKOTA BERSATU. Trainer C. Oustons representative Mr. R. Wilson was advised that MAHKOTA BERSATU must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.

BOOKMAKERS: 4 bookmakers fielded at the race meeting.

SWABBING: All winners were sent to be swabbed and the samples collected were forwarded to the Racing Science Centre for routine analysis.
