GENERAL
The prize money for all races was as follows: Of $7000, 1st $4550, 2nd $1400, 3rd $700 and 4th $350 (with applicable bonuses).
Race 1: Emerald Carrying Co BM Handicap - 1000 metres
1st –SAINT BELLE 2nd –HUNTING LODGE 3rd – DROSTE 4th- STORMWOOD
At the start, FRAHA (S. McGovern) was tightened between RAHULA (App S. McCullum) and SAINT BELLE (B. El-Issa), when both runners shifted ground.
A short distance after the start, FRAHA clipped the heels of RAHULA and blundered.
Jockey T. O’Hara reported that STORMWOOD had anticipated the start and stepped back as the barriers opened and as a result was slow to begin. Jockey O’Hara further stated the gelding had failed to travel and inclined to lay in in the early stages of the event. Stewards will seek a follow-up report from Trainer C Thompson.
Jockey D. Evans reported that DROSTE laid out in the straight.
It was observed that RAHULA had lost its off hind plate in running.
Race 2: Lindsay Australia Pty Ltd QTIS Maiden Handicap- 1100 metres
1st –ZAHA DREAM 2nd – CEDARSTAR 3rd – BATTLER’S GOLD 4th – FOUR BELLS
HARAKA ZULU (App S McCullum) was slow to begin. A warning would be placed against the gelding.
Race 3: Harvey World Travel Emerald Sustain Country Class 6 Plate - 1300 metres
1st – LADY PANIA 2nd – WONDER WIZARD 3rd – BOOTOOLOO 4th – MISTABLISTA
Jockey D. Evans was permitted to rider half a kilogram overweight on the handicapped weight of 53.5kg on WONDER WIZARD.
LADY PANIA (B. El-Issa) shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
Regarding the performance of COCO LOCO, Apprentice A. Kitson stated the mare had failed to travel throughout and had not responded to her riding and had proved disappointing.
Race 4: 2PH Farms Class B Handicap- 1300 metres
1st –FICKLE BUSINESS 2nd – DEEKAYEL 3rd – AL GHAZI 4th – GREENWOOD MAGIC
No racing incidents.
Race 5: BMD Constructions BM 60 Handicap - 1635 metres
1st – A DEPENDANT 2nd – NOSTOPPINTHEMUSIC 3rd – FEROCITY BLUE 4th – GETAWAY PLAN
GETAWAY PLAN (D. Simmons) was a little slow to begin.
NOSTOPPINTHEMUSIC (D. Evans) was slow to begin and shifted in to take up a position closer to the running rail.
BEE JAY SENZA (S. McGovern) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
From the 100 metre, A DEPENDANT (B. El-Issa) shifted out under pressure.
Stewards sought an explanation and viewed the available patrol film of Jockey D. Evans’ riding of NOSTOPPINTHEMUSIC rounding the home turn. Jockey Evans stated he had committed to a run to the outside of FEROCITY BLUE (S. McCullum) and after doing so, FEROCITY BLUE rolled outward and caused NOSTOPPINTHEMUSIC wider on the track.
