Race 1: Emerald Coaches QTIS 2YO Maiden Handicap- 1000 metres
1st – PASEEM 2nd – LITTLE ANNIEROCKET 3rd – BELLA ROCKET 4th- IF ONLY THEY KNEW
Stewards declared NELSON’S DEFEAT (App S Cooke) a late scratching at 1.19pm when unable to be loaded in the barriers. Prior to correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on NELSON’S DEFEAT be refunded and the following deductions to apply
PASEEM- 3c Win and 11c Place
LITTLE ANNIEROCKET- 11c Place
Trainer J Manzelmann was advised the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
At the start, LITTLE ANNIEROCKET (B. El-Issa) jumped out.
NO KNICKERS (J. Stephens) jumped inwards and lost ground.
Near the 800 metres, BELLA ROCKET (T. Bannon) was restrained from the heels of LITTLE ANNIEROCKET and raced ungenerously until near the 600 metres.
Near the 150 metres, LITTLE ANNIEROCKET shifted out slightly under pressure and IF ONLY THEY KNEW (T. O’Hara) had to be steadied.
Race 2: Steve Taylor and Partners Class B Handicap- 1100 metres
1st – PLUM BOB 2nd – STARFIRE LADY 3rd – HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS 4th – MISS ANITORES
Trainer M. Cochrane was fined $50 for late declaration of J. Babarovich as the rider for STARFIRE LADY (LR 67)
After being loaded, ROCKET ON BOARD (App S Cooke) reared and become cast when its off foreleg was caught over the barrier partition. Acting on veterinary advice, Stewards declared the gelding a late scratching at 1.57pm. Prior to correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on ROCKET ON BOARD be refunded and the following deductions to apply
PLUM BOB- 7c Win, 10c Place
STARFIRE LADY- 12c Place
HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS- 8c Place
Trainer J Manzlemann was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the gelding and a veterinary certificate would be required prior to its next race start.
HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS (B. El-Issa) was slow into stride.
Near the 800 metres, HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS improved onto the heels of MY OPPORTUNITY (S. McGovern) and shifted to its outside. In doing so, EDGEROI HOPE (App A Kitson) was placed in restricted room between HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS and RYTARGA (App C Pye) until near the 500 metres and was eased.
Near the 100 metres, EDGEROI HOPE was disappointed for clear running momentarily.
PLUM BOB (T. O’Hara) raced wide throughout.
Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey J Babarovich to view the photo finish image for first.
A post-race veterinary inspection of MY OPPORTUNITY revealed the mare to have suffered an injury to its near fore tendon. Trainer B Trimble was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to its next race start.
Race 3: Central Queensland Driving Acedemy Maiden Handicap- 1200 metres
1st –MISS MEDAZ 2nd – SPINIFEX WARRIOR 3rd – DEEKAYEL 4th – RICORDO
Trainer R Thompson was fined $50 for the late declaration of a tongue tie to be worn on RICORDO. AR 140A
ALLEGEDLY (B. El-Issa) was slow into stride.
FAITHFUL EYE (D. Simmons) jumped out.
MISS MEDAZ (T. Bannon) was a little slow to begin.
Race 4: Route 66 Motor Inn Emerald Newmarket Open Handicap- 1200 metres
1st –EMMA’S SONNET 2nd –DANCEFLOOR PRODIGY 3rd – TONK 4th – BOOTOOLOO
Apprentice S Cooke was permitted to claim 3 1/2kg of his 4kg on PROVINCIAL. App Cooke was issued was a reprimand under AR 92 (12).
On arrival behind the barrier, TONK (App S McCullum) underwent a veterinary inspection after making contact with the barrier tractor. The gelding was passed to take its place in the field.
LIBERTY TYCOON (J. Stephens) jumped out onto DANCEFLOOR PRODIGY (B. El-Issa) which was taken out onto BOOTOOLOO (App A Kitson).
Shortly after the start, BOOTOOLOO was tightened between DANCEFLOOR PRODIGY and HUNTING LODGE (D. Simmons).
DOWN ANOTHER TRACK (L Dillon) jumped out and made contact with SAINT BELLE (J. Babarovich).
BOOTOOLOO was held up from the 200 metres to near the 100 metres and shifted out to obtain clear running.
DOWN ANOTHER TRACK and EMMA’S SONNET (T. O’Hara) raced wide throughout.
Trainer C Garland advised Stewards that LIBERTY TYCOON would now be sent for a spell.
Race 5: Emerald Diesel Pump & Injector Service Class 2 Handicap- 1300 metres
1st –WONDER WIZARD 2nd – PRANCING 3rd – SUITE ANNIE 4th – SWING AND SING
PRANCING (B. El-Issa) was slow into stride.
TRYSTA (App A Kitson) was slow to begin.
STRIKE ME RED (App C Pye) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
SWING AND SING (J. Babarovich) raced wide throughout.
A post-race veterinary inspection of STRIKE ME RED revealed the gelding to be making an abnormal respiratory noise, have an increased respiratory rate and poor post-race recovery. In light of this examination, the gelding will be required to complete an official barrier trial and undergo a veterinary inspection. Connections indicated STRIKE ME RED may be retired.
Race 6: St. Patrick’s Parish Jubille Emerald Cup Open Handicap- 1635 metres
1st – POPNAE 2nd – DAAD’S OVERTIME 3rd – MISTABLISTA 4th – TEDDY BARE/ GETAWAY PLAN
Trainer A Jones was fined $50 for late declaration of C. Pye as the rider for POPNAE. LR 67
A DEPENDANT (T. O’Hara) sprung its off fore plate in the enclosure and it was removed. On arrival at the barriers, the gelding underwent a veterinary inspection and was found to be lame and declared a late scratching at 4.44pm. Prior to correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on A DEPENDANT be refunded and the following deductions to apply
POPNAE- 11c Win, 8c Place
DAAD’S OVERTIME- 10c Place
MISTABLISTA- 8c Place
OUR BOY LUKAS (App S Cooke) raced wide throughout.
Near the 150 metres, POPNAE rolled inwards.
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Jockey D Simmons viewed the available patrol films to ascertain if there were sufficient grounds to protest against POPNAE. After doing so, Jockey Simmons did not elect to proceed.
Correct weight was further delayed when Stewards viewed the photo finish image for fourth. It was confirmed these runners had dead-heated.
