SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT- Friday 5th October, 2013- Rockhampton

Trainer J Lewis advised that PERMISSION GRANTED would now be sent for spell.

GENERAL:

Trainer A. Johnston reported that MARAUDING HILL had bled during trackwork on Saturday, 12th October. Mr Johnston was advised that, as this was the first time that MARAUDING HILL had bled, it will be barred from racing for 3 months under A.R. 53A, and then must gallop over at least 1000 metres in the presence of a steward before being permitted to race again.

Stewards accepted the explanation by trainer T. Kenny for the late notification of App. S. Egan as the rider of DREAMS UNTOLD in Race 1 and Jockey S. Evans as the rider of MY PAL HOUSTON in Race 3. App. Egan was permitted to claim only 1.5kg of his 2kg allowance.

Race 1: Ensham QTIS 3YO Handicap - 1000 metres
1st TYCOON ANNIE 2nd CENTREFOLD BABE 3rd THAT'S POPS 4th - CRAIGLEA DUCATI

App.M McGillveray was permitted to claim an allowance of 2kg, due to his riding weight being amended to 52kg.

Stewards gave permission for COURTMAN (S. McCullum) to race with a tongue-tie today. Stewards will make further inquiries as to the reason for the change in approved gear.

TYCOON ANNIE (D. Hayes) was difficult to load into the barriers. A warning was placed in the horse's barrier manners.

GO SAI (J. Stephens) was a little slow to begin.

At the start CAUGHT SWITCHING (D. Philpot) shifted out and inconvenienced CENTREFOLD BABE (T. O'Hara).

NISEKO GOLD (L. Dillon) jumped inwards onto CRAIGLEA DUCATI (App. L. Tilley), which laid in for a short distance after the start and tightened PASEEM (C. Pye), and further hampered CENTREFOLD BABE, resulting in both runners losing ground.

Following the race trainer T. Cook reported that PASEEM had a laceration to its near fore shin.

Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey L. Dillon as to the performance of NISEKO GOLD. Jockey Dillon stated that the gelding had failed to race comfortably throughout the event and resented dust coming back. Jockey Dillon stated that when placed under pressure NISEKO GOLD failed to respond and raced ungenerously for the majority of the event. Trainer C. Garland informed stewards that he intended to have blood samples taken from the gelding. Stewards will seek a follow-report on the horse's progress in the days following the event.

Race 2: Emerald Carpet Court BM 65 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st LAST PARDEE 2nd WHAT DO YOU WANT 3rd SAINT BELLE 4th - REV THE CHEV

Trainer T. Button was given permission for MORAL PERSUASION (App. M. Mcgillivray) to race without a tongue-tie. Stewards will seek further information regarding this matter.

At the start HAYYLER'S DRAGON (M. Cullen) shifted out onto RAHULA (L. Dillon) and lost ground.

SECURITY SAM (J. Stephens) and BONNY THE VIPER (C Pye) began awkwardly and then both raced wide throughout the event.

Inside the 100 metres CRAIGLEA TEQUILA (App. L. Tilley) shifted out, resulting in HAYYLER'S DRAGON being held up and having to be steadied. App. Tilley was reprimanded and advised that stewards would refer his riding to the Riding Skills Panel under A.R. 92A(2).

Race 3: Bentleys (Qld) Pty Ltd Maiden Plate - 1200 metres
1st – ROYAL FROLIC 2nd HALLE McOLLYWILL 3rd RENTRICE 4th - WILD MAX

BARBOUGE (C. Pye) began awkwardly.

Upon jumping JUST AS SWEET (App. M. McGillivray) shifted out onto RED BULL (App B Newport), which lost ground.

At the start GUARANTEES (App. L. Tilley) shifted in across MY PAL HOUSTON (S. Evans), which lost ground.

A post-race veterinary examination of BARBOUGE revealed that the horse had been galloped on its near hind behind and was subsequently treated.

Race 4: Onesteel Metalcentre Class 4 Handicap - 1300 metres
1st NOBODY'S BOY 2nd VOLTURNUS 3rd SCHOORWIN 4th – LEGAL DANCER

NOBODY'S BOY (A. Coome) was a little slow to begin.

At the start MRS ASIA (C. Pye) jumped out onto PURE SUNSET (App. B. Newport), which was taken out onto VOLTURNUS (D. Hayse).

When the start was effected, VEILED MORN (App. S. Egan), which had been leaning on the side of the barrier, was slow to begin.

RAZOR GANG (App. L. Tilley) raced keenly in the middle stages and also raced wide throughout the event.

Near the 700 metres TOO MANY LIES (L. Dillon) rolled in and when corrected took RAZOR GANG wider on the track. Jockey Dillon reported that his mount was inclined to lay in for the majority of the race.

Leaving the 400 metres MRS ASIA laid out until near the 300 metres, made contact with SCHWOORIN (S. McCulum) which made contact with TOO MANY LIES. This allowed NOBODY'S BOY to improve to the inside of MRS ASIA.

On the home turn VEILED MORN (App. S. Egan) laid out and became awkwardly placed on the heels of NOBODY'S BOY, had to be checked and lost some ground.

Race 5: Reserve Group BM 60 Handicap – 1615 metres
1st ENDLESS TOWER 2nd PHIL DOESN'T CARE 3rd REGAL LEGEND 4th - ETCHED IN GLASS

Due to a clerical error, I. Coombes instead of Jockey A. Coome was shown in the Race book as the rider for REGAL LEGEND.

ENDLESS TOWER (App. S. Egan), NORDIC JET (L. Dillon) and SPEEDSKATER (App. A. Kitson) were slow to begin.

MAZOT (T. O'Hara) and FOREVER MORE (S. Evans) raced wide throughout.

In the early and middle stages NORDIC JET raced keenly.

Near the 1000 metres ENDLESS TOWER (App. S. Egan) shifted out to improve when racing behind PHIL DOESN'T CARE (D. Hayse) and in doing so took CRAIGLEA CARINA (App. S. McCullum) wider.

Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight NORDIC WARRIOR (D. Philpot) laid out under pressure.

Race 6: CQ News/Hot FM Open Handicap - 1200 metres
1st GUNS 2nd DEVON 3rd PLAYTIME 4th - DANCEFLOOR PRODIGY

EMMA'S SONNET was a late scratching, at 9.10 a.m., by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice that the mare had injured itself whilst being loaded onto the float.

BLAZE TO FORTUNE (App. B. Newport) was slow into stride.

Near the 1000 metres KANSKJE (J. Stephens) shifted out away from the heels of GUNS (App. L. Tilley), which rolled in.

At the 800 metres DEVON (D. Hayse) laid in slightly and caused GUNS to shift in away from DEVON, which was racing ungenerously despite the efforts of its rider. PLAYTIME (App. S. Egan), which was racing keenly, became awkwardly placed to the inside of GUNS and was taken in and laid in onto FALLS CREEK (M. Cullen), which had to be steadied and lost ground. DANCEFLOOR PRODIGY (App. M. McGillivray), which was following FALLS CREEK, had to be steadied from heels. As stewards could not attribute responsibility for the incident to any one rider, no further action was taken.

Race 7: Aggreko/Devcon Building Co. Country Qld Showcase Emerald 100 Open Handicap - 1850 metres
1st SLIM HENRY 2nd OFORAWESOME 3rd CHINRUB 4th - DIAMONDCOWBOY

BALLYBUNION was a late scratching by order of the stewards, at 5.03 p.m., when it was found to be lame in front. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on BALLYBUNYON be refunded in full and that the following deductions apply:

0¢ in the dollar for the win, for the winner, SLIM HENRY
1¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, SLIM HENRY
1¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, OFORAWESOME
3¢ in the dollar for the place for 3rd, CHINRUB

Trainer G. Teal was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to BALLYBUNYON being permitted to race again.

CHINRUB (A. Coome) began awkwardly.

DAMN GOOD IDEA (C Pye) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start DIAMONDCOWBOY (L. Dillon) shifted out.

Passing the winning post the first time SLIM HENRY (D. Hayse) was steadied from the heels of A DEPENDANT (T. O’Hara) which laid in momentarily.

Approaching the 1600 metres CHINRUB was buffeted between OFORAWESOME and DAAD'S OVERTIME (App. M. McGillivray), and near the 1600 metres was steadied from the heels of OFORAWESOME and took up a position closer to the running rail.

DAAD'S OVERTIME raced wide throughout.

Jockey M. Cullen reported that POWER TO EXCEED raced wide in the early stages and failed to travel comfortably on the firm track surface.

Stewards sought an explanation from App. B. Newport for the tactics adopted on TITANIUM ROCK, which led in today's event, contrary to its usual racing pattern. App. Newport stated that he had intended to take up the horse's customary position, towards the rear of the field, however after beginning well, the gelding found the lead of its own accord. App. Newport was of the opinion that in those circumstances he had no option other than to allow TITANIUM ROCK to lead, however this may have been detrimental to the gelding's chances as he was obliged to place TITANIUM ROCK under pressure approaching the home turn. The explanation was noted.
