The explanation by apprentice A. Gould her failure to fulfil her riding engagement of YOBOB'S HOPE in race 2 was accepted.


RACE 1: AFC ABATTORIS H'CAP - 800M.

MISTAKE, which became fractious in the enclosure and dislodging its rider, was inspected by the club's veterinary surgeon and past fit to start.

MISTAKE refused to jump and missed the start by several lengths. Trainer R. MacKay was advised that MISTAKE would be required to barrier trial satisfactorily prior to its next races start.


RACE 2: ESK & DISTRICT CO-OP H'CAP - 800M.

TYCOON ANN and LIVA LIVA were both examined by the club's veterinary surgeon at the barriers and passed fit to start.

Apprentice M. Allen was reprimanded for failing to claim her full allowance on FORTNIGHT.

On return to scale, a protest was lodged by A. Gould, rider of the 4th placegetter, LIVA LIVA, against BOLD FENIAN being declared 3rd, alleging interference at the 200m.. The protest was subsequently dismissed and A. Gould was fined $50 for lodging what the stewards deemed to be a frivolous protest.

SIKASKA and FORTNIGHT were slow to begin.

KIMJED raced greenly throughout the race, and at the 300m. was momentarily tightened for room between LIVA LIVA and PADDY'S BLUES, which shifted out to improve. RUN MAGIC GIRL, which was following, also had to be restrained off the heels of KIMJED.

BOLDFENIAN raced greenly approaching the 150m. and shifted out, becoming unbalanced.



RACE 3: BRISBANE VALLEY MEATS H'CAP - 1200M.

Due to a misunderstanding between the trainer and connections of TRIBOLITE, K. Mahoney was declared as the rider of TRILOBITE when G. Killen was to be the rider of that gelding. Trainer T. Harrison was fined $50.
The start of this event was delayed when EUREKA ALCOHOL dislodged its rider during the preliminary and was unable to be recaptured for some distance. EUREKA ALCOHOL was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.30 p.m.. Following the event, stewards ordered all monies invested on EUREKA ALCOHOL be refunded, with deductions of 11 cents in the dollar on the face value of successful win and place bets placed prior to the withdrawal time.

LET'S CELEBRATE was slow to begin.

SLY DOCTOR and MAGIC GAME came together on jumping away.

AUTUMNWOOD raced wide in he early and middle stages.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SLY DOCTOR, A. Erhart stated that in his opinion the colt failed to back up from its only start on 14 September, and was forced to race wide throughout the early and middle stages of the event.


RACE 4: AUST ECONOMIC CONSULTANTS GROUP H'CAP - 1460M.

Trainer L. Madden was fined $50 for nominating SHAY DANCER and PARIS CONSUL for this event when ineligible.

LULU'S A DANCER was slow to begin.

Shortly after entering the straight, DELTA PRINCE commenced to hang in under pressure despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in KAYTE BE being taken in across the heels of ROZ'S LEADER, which had to be checked.


RACE 5: LOCAL GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATES H'CAP - 1460M.

Jockey J. Warrington (MULKUDDI) was fined $25 for handing out the wrong saddle cloth number after weighing out.

As R. Hancock was indisposed, D. Griffin was substituted as the rider of VERY ZEPH.

BEYONDA was slow to begin.


RACE 6: KING & COMPANY, SOLICITORS H'CAP - 1200M.

The reason for the late declaration of K. Pope as the rider of ANGE SASSI was accepted.

MIGHTY ROAR jumped awkwardly.

RAW TORQUE and DESPERATE CAUSE were slow to begin.

After leaving the 1000m., ANGE SASSI shifted out and bumped the hind quarters of SANCTURAY GOLD.

RACE 7: SEQROC H'CAP - 1200M.

T. Unwin replaced P. Gesler as the rider of TIGERS when P. Gesler failed to arrive on course. An inquiry will be opened into the reason for P. Gesler's failure to fulfil her engagement.

KWILA'S WISH was slow to begin.

MISS EXCELSIOR began awkwardly.

ANITINA had to be steadied approaching the 1000m. when tightened for room by CAVALLO VOLANTE, which shifted in slightly. R. Pittman, rider of CAVALLO VOLANTE, was advised to exercise more care.

Approaching the 900m., ANITANA, which was pulling hard, shifted out, taking TIO PEPE and KWILA'S WISH wider on the track.


RACE 8: VOLVO BUS & TRUCK H'CAP - 1750M.

SOVANCE was slow to begin.



ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
