WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD
RACE 1: KELATOLYTE & HOOF PRIME H'CAP - 1460M.
Trainer J. Casey was fined $100 for failing to produce the Document of Description for LORD ROSSO.
MISTER BRAIN and FREE AND CLEAR were slow to begin.
FLEETWITH and TOLGA DAN brushed on jumping away.
PADDY'S VENTURE was obliged to race wide throughout the event.
RACE 2: BETA CALM H'CAP - 800M.
When proceeding to the barriers, C. Eaton was dislodged from MY SON GUS. The colt was quickly recaptured, examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
CHAUDIE BOY jumped awkwardly, then blundered shortly after the start.
SUCCESSFUL DEAL and MY SON GUS were slow to begin.
Rounding the home turn, THE LITTLE DRILLER and HOT CHILLI FILLY brushed.
After leaving the 200m., SUCCESSFUL DEAL and MIGHTY REWARD made slight contact. As a result, SUCCESSFUL DEAL then shifted in, briefly hampering WEDNESDAY ADDAMS.
HERE TO RUN, which was retired from the event near the 600m. was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and found to be sore in the off fore and off hind legs. Trainer G. Livermore was advised that he would be required to produce a veterinary clearance for HERE TO RUN prior to its next race start.
RACE 3: SWELL DOWN H'CAP - 1200M.
Trainer P. Moody was fined $50 for failing to declare a riders for PEDRO'S SUCCESS and MAJOR THOMSON by the required time.
Trainer B. Miller was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for TE WAHINE by the required time.
Trainer P. Strong was fined $100 for failing to produce the Document of Description for I'M FEARLESS.
WHY WONDER was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to start.
When attempting a narrow run to the inside of THE LITTLE DRILLER leaving the 150m., WHY WONDER had to be checked when THE LITTLE DRILLER shifted in slightly. R. Goltz was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.
Passing the 100m., TE WAHINE was bumped by DANE GRANDE, which was taken in by I DANCE I RUN, which shifted in abruptly when placed under pressure.
RACE 4: KELATO VIT H'CAP - 1200M.
Trainer R. Heathcote was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for SYTLISH AMBER by the required time.
GREAT WONDER was slow to begin.
HULA MASTER jumped away awkwardly, then shifted in, making heavy contact with STYLISH AMBER, resulting in both runners losing considerable ground. HULA MASTER then raced ungenerously for some distance in the early stages. Trainer L. Bryant was advised that a warning was placed on HULA MASTER regarding its racing manners.
SON OF DAWN shifted out passing the 1000m. and made contact with SAHARA LOCH.
Rounding the home turn, STYLISH AMBER had to be severely checked as a result of EXTREME RED hanging in despite the efforts of its rider. In this incident, C. Reith, rider of STYLISH AMBER lost the use of both irons.
RACE 5: LOOSEN UP H'CAP - 800M.
TELINDA LAD was slow to begin.
Near the 400m., FOREIGN TOUCH had to be steadied off the heels of JUST ROBBERY, which shifted in slightly.
Close to the finish line, TAT'S RAKU shifted in, making heavy contact with GOOD IDEA.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of TELINDA LAD, jockey A. Pattillo stated that the gelding was slow to begin and was under pressure to tack on to the field from that point on. He further stated that TELINDA LAD ran on only fairly in the straight. Trainer K. Pattillo stated that was TELINDA LAD was resuming from a spell and had shown its best form over longer distances. K. Pattillo was advised that TELINDA LAD would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
RACE 6: J B DRYNAN MEMO - 800M.
CRAIGLEA BELLS shifted out at the start, hampering STORMY BLUE.
ABSAROKA was slow to begin.
Approaching the 500m., JIMMIE'S GIRL was inclined to shift in and away from KITCHIKAN, despite the efforts of M. Rice , resulting in DONTA BATDY and CHILLA NOVA being momentarily tightened for room.
Nearing the home turn, ABSAROKA had to be steadied off the heels of DONTA BATDY and was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
RACE 7: QUICK HEAL H'CAP - 1200M.
Apprentice R. Hatano was fined $50 for failing to produce his letter of authority from his master.
RON'S XENA, FEE FI PO and HEELS ON WHEELS. were slow to begin.
Approaching the home turn, RON'S XENA was inclined to lay out for a short distance, and near the 300m., had to be steadied off the heels of TUCKOMBIL FLYER, which was taken in by ROYAL PERFORMANCE. R. Hatano, rider of ROYAL PERFORMANCE, was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care.
HEELS ON WHEELS ran wide on the home turn.
RACE 8: ZANO BOLIC H'CAP - 1460M.
Due to transport difficulties, M. Williamson was unable to be on course in time to fulfil his engagement on LUSKIN DREAMS and was replaced by C. Small.
The arrival of both MAJOR THOMSON and NAKED SPUR on course was delayed due to transport difficulties. The horses were examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
ALBELINI shifted out at the start, hampering DON'T WORRY, KILKENNY PRINCE, SPEEDITO and MAJOR THOMSON.
Rounding the home turn, SPEEDITO was held up and unable to obtain clear running.
HEALER raced wide throughout the event.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
