ESK JOCKEY CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SAT.17.04.04

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr P Gillard (Chairman), Mr C Ferguson (Cadet)

WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK – GOOD (RACES 1 & 2)
DEAD (RACES 3 TO 6)

RACE 1: TIPGLANCEIFERNVALE HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE – 800M

RAJAH RAUTAI which was late to arrive on course due to a transport break down, was inspected by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run.

KALKADOON LASS began awkwardly losing ground.

Approaching the 300m RAJAH RAUTAI shifted out around the hills of POSH ALICE and commenced to race ungenerously which inconvenienced KALKADOON LASS which was following causing this filly to become unbalanced and shift wider on the track.

RACE 2: ITS SAND & GRAVEL CLASS H’CAP – 800M

As apprentice B. Wade the rider of EASTWEST WISDOM was stood down by the clubs doctor he was replaced by apprentice M. Radecker.

BOLD SIGN which arrived late on course was inspected by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run.

BOLD SIGN slow to begin.

SANDY STAR began awkwardly losing ground.

CADILLAC DREAM which began awkwardly was obliged to race wide through out the event.

Approaching the 500m EASTWEST WISDOM became unbalanced and shifted in slightly hampering SANDY STAR which had to be steadied.
Apprentice M Radecker the rider of EASTWEST WISDOM was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Due to a shower of rain the track was down graded to DEAD after the running of race 2.

RACE 3: GLAMORGAN VALE SOUTH MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

Both WILD INTENSIONS and YE HA GRANDMA were slow to begin.

HANABI MOO ICHIDO which began awkwardly knuckled over at the start.

REBEL CAUSE jumped out at the start and made heavy contact with the barrier gate.

EDINBURGH shifted in shortly after the start making contact with RONSUBETTO.

RACE 4: WANLESS WASTECORP QTIS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M

CROWNED LADY reared at the start and lost considerable ground.

CENTATEL knuckled over at the start.

PCIWORTH lost ground when tightened for room between SOUTHBROOK KID and HE’S NO GENTLEMAN which jumped out at the start.

Approaching the 900m RUSTIC RAMBLER shifted in and became unbalanced and then shifted out clipping the heels of HE’S NO GENTLEMAN and blundering. CENTATEL which was racing to the inside of RUSTIC RAMBLER had to be steadied and lost ground. Apprentice L. Fyre was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Trainer K. Jones was questioned as to the improved performance of CENTAREL compared with its unplaced effort at Toowoomba on the 10th of April 04 in a Class 1 event. He stated that he believes the gelding performs better for an apprentice rider rather than a more vigorous senior rider and in future would be endeavouring to engage similar riders. He’s explanation was noted.

The club’s veterinary surgeon reported that BALLY BRIANNA bled from both nostrils. BALLY BRIANNA will incur a three month ban from racing. A swab sample was taken from BALLY BRIANNA.

RACE 5: KING & CO CUP H’CAP – 1200M

CRACKERJACK’S HOPE which began awkwardly and became unbalanced had to be checked and lost ground when avoiding the heals of SUNDAE JESTER.

MORINGA’S MANDRAKE was unable to obtain clear running from the 250m until the 50m.

ENTITY was held up over the concluding stages.

RACE 6: LINVALE NORTH MAIDEN PLATE – 1460M

ARIANNE GAL began awkwardly losing ground.

BAILY ROSE lost ground at the start when tightened for room between MIGHTY GRITTY and ALOE’S BOY which jumped out.

Both I’M A HOOLIGAN and IONIC were inclined to hang out throughout the event.

MIGHTY GRITTY shifted out under hand riding and made contact with IONIC near the winning post.
