WEATHER - FINE TRACK – GOOD
GENERAL:
Stewards conducted an inquiry into a complaint laid by Mr W. Bryant prior to the running of Doomben Race 6 in that he had placed a bet of $50.00 each way with licensed book maker Mr W. Gannon on the gelding PERISCOPE at the odds of 21.00.
Mr Bryant stated he had asked Mr Gannon’s bag man and clerk if they were accepting bets on that race and there reply was yes and a betting ticket was issued confirming the wager.
Mr Gannon explained that at the time the bet was placed his betting sheet was slightly ajar and that under those circumstances he was not liable to honour that bet.
After considering the evidence from all parties it was the decision of the stewards that the bet should stand.
RACE 1: BRISBANE BUS LINES MAIDEN PLATE – 800M
The start was delayed when CIVIDEL was unable to be loaded. CIVIDEL was declared a late withdrawal at 12.18pm. On the announcement of correct weight, all monies invested on CIVIDEL were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 6 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 7 cents in the face value place bets applicable.
Trainer J. Savage was advised that CIVIDEL must obtain a further barrier certificate before starting again.
On return to scale a protest was lodged by R. Goltz, rider of 2nd placed DANCING FOR LOVE against BUSHWAH TUAN being declared the winner alleging interference at the 600m. After taking in to account all the evidence and the margin, the protest was dismissed and the placing’s confirmed.
NIGHT TIME GAL jumped out at the start making contact with SALAMAT KIITOS MOI which in turn shifted out hampering KUANG D”WASHU.
Approaching the 700m BUSHWAH TUAN was inclined to hang in.
DANCING FOR LOVE shifted in slightly at 700m making contact with CRAIGLEA BABA.
At the 600m BUSHWAH TUAN again commenced to hang in and made contact with DANCING FOR LOVE which shifted in slightly hampering CRAIGLEA BABA which became unbalanced and shifted in making heavy contact with the inside running rail losing considerable ground, while stewards noted that greenness was a contributing factor apprentice M. Price the rider of BUSHWAH TUAN was none the less advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Both KUBANG D’WASHU and OUR BOY LOLLIPOP were obliged to race wide through out the event.
RACE 2: PEDDLE THORP ARCHITECTS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 800M
OUR COGNAC jumped out at the start hampering TRICEA.
Approaching the 500m RUN MISTY was inclined to hang out and shifted wider on the track.
RACE 3: MOTORAMA MITSUBISHI MAIDEN PLATE – 1460M
SOCIAL WORKER was slow to begin.
RACE 4: I.T.S SAND & GRAVEL MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
A. Gain who was late to arrive on course was replaced by L. Fyfe as the rider of LADY’S KING. At a further inquiry A. Gain was reprimanded.
LADY’S KING was slow to begin.
GO RAZZA jumped out at the start hampering CENTRO MAGIC.
A post race veterinary inspection of SWORN TO ACTION revealed that horse to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer A. Mead was advised a vet certificate would be required prior to its next start.
RACE 5: FERNVALE HOTEL QTIS CLASS 1 H’CAP (1) – 1200M
Trainer R. Lipp was fined the sum of $50.00 for failing to declare a rider for REAL LIVE WOMAN by the prescribed time.
EFTPOS which was cannoned into by another runner in saddling enclosure was inspected by the club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
MISTER BOOLA was tightened for room at the start between MISS FORD and PARITA BANK which both shifted ground.
SPECIAL EFFORTS was obliged to race wide through out the event.
EFTPOS was momentarily tightened for room near the winning post between DESERT SAMBA and DUALINER which was inclined to hang in.
RACE 6: FERNVALE HOTEL QTIS CLASS 1 H’CAP (2) – 1200M
YANDINA LASS which was unable to restrained by its rider and worked strongly in its preliminary was inspected by the club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
BOASTING, PERSISTING and REAL LIVE WOMAN were all slow to begin.
Approaching the 1000m BOASTING shifted out slightly tightening the running of PICWORTH which was taken out on to MY TUMBLING DICE which had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ACAPULCO.
Shortly after PICWORTH began to over race and had to be restrained off the heels HE’S NO GENTLEMAN.
Leaving the 400m PERSISTING and ACAPULCO made contact when both horses shifted ground, as a result PERSISTING shifted in and had to be steadied off the heels of HE’S NO GENTLEMAN.
