Race 1: KELATO VIT MAIDEN PLATE – 1460M.
1st – PRETTY SISTER 2nd – KARPAREE 3rd – CARINO A LA VIDA 4th – RUBBER DUST

The start was delayed when BINDA GREY was presented to the saddling enclosure without a saddle cloth with which it was weighed out with and had to be resaddled. M Sheen the stable representative for trainer R Dawson was fined the sum of $100.00 under AR 140A.

KARPAREE (M Price) which took charge of its rider in the preliminary and worked strongly for a short distance was inspected by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

CAXTON STREET (L Appo) which was fractious in the barriers and reared as the start was affected lost considerable ground. W Hoelbech, the stable representative for trainer L Ross was advised a warning would be placed on that horses barrier manners.

RUBBER DUST shifted in slightly near the 1200m causing ABSOLUTE PARADISE (B Thomson) to shift in and tighten the running BINDA GREY (App L Wray) which overreacted and had to be steadied and lose ground. C Eaton the rider of RUBBER DUST was advised to exercise more care.

Race 2: KELATO LYTE MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M.

1st – ROCK THE CLOCK 2nd – HIDE ‘N’ WATCH 3rd – OSCA’S RIGHT 4th – BLUE LEICA STORM

Race 4: SWELLDOWN MAIDEN PLATE – 800M.
1st – DARK DOUGLAS 2nd – HIDE ‘N’ WATCH 3rd – LADY HOUDINI 4th – BIRRAWEE BOY

On return to scale a protest was lodged by M Wood the rider of 2nd placegetter HIDE ‘N’ WATCH, against DARK DOUGLAS (App K Treble) being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 150m was dismissed. In dismissing the protest, stewards were of the opinion that whilst DARK DOUGLAS had shifted in brushing HIDE ‘N’ WATCH, there was a contributing factor of BIRRAWEE BOY (T Unwin) becoming unbalanced and shifting out making contact with HIDE ‘N’ WATCH which inturn made heavy contact with DARK DOUGLAS which also became unbalanced, they were not satisfied that the interference suffered to HIDE ‘N’ WATCH could be attributed to any one rider. Both T Unwin the rider of BIRRAWEE BOY and App K Treble the rider of DARK DOUGLAS were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances when shifting ground.

J Hoopert the rider of SUBARASHI SHINZOO was dislodged behind the barriers giving him a harmless fall.

MORINGA’S GALLANT (C Eaton) and SARA STREET (App S Bogenhuber) were both slow to begin.

SUBARASHI SHINZOO (J Hoopert) and MENINGA (R Hancock) both began awkwardly.

SEPTEMBER GREY (App L Wray) jumped in the air at the start and shifted in bumping DEED’S DODGE (App M Price).

Leaving the 50m DARBARLYN MAGIC (L Appo) began to race ungenerously and shifted in making contact with the inside running rail and then shifted out abruptly almost dislodging it’s rider, as a result of this LADY HOUDININ (C Kearney) which was racing to it’s outside was severely tightened onto BIRRAWEE BOY (T Unwin) and had to be checked when it clipped the heels of DARBARLYN MAGIC which continued to shift out despite the efforts of it’s rider.
B Ashe the trainer of DARBARLYN MAGIC was advised the gelding must complete an official barrier trial to the steward’s satisfaction prior to its next start.
