Race 1: Ewan Memorial Shield Benchmark 74 Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – MISHANI PERSUADER 2nd – MIGHTY MITE 3rd – ATHABASCA 4th – CLIP UP

No racing incidents.

Race 2: Bluewater Class A Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – CRAIGLEA FOCUS 2nd – CITY CHAT 3rd – BELLE I AM 4th – BROWN PAPER BEAR

YOUNG BASIL – Was a late withdrawal at 1.45pm on veterinary advice when the gelding was found to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer Ms O Cairns said that YOUNG BASIL would now be retired. Acting on this assurance no action was taken.

SWEET DANISH – Began awkwardly and lost considerable ground resulting in jockey G Watson becoming unbalanced in the saddle. Following this incident G Watson reported of pain in his lower back however indicated he would be able to fulfil his remaining engagements.

CITY CHAT - Was slow to begin then raced wide throughout.

BROWN PAPER BEAR - Was inclined to hangout throughout and shifted out abruptly near the 250m when attempting to obtain a run between runners.

Race 3: Rotary Sunrise QTIS Added Stakes Class 2 Handicap 1300 metres:
1st – PINE ISLAND 2nd – PROUD WARRIOR 3rd – BELLE VERDE 4th – NAIL ‘EM

BELLE VERDE - Was slow to begin.

HASTY DIAMOND - Raced wide throughout.

STREET ART - On return to scale C Eaton reported that the gelding raced ungenerously and in her opinion did not handle the firm track conditions. Jockey accidentally dropped her whip near the 150m.

Race 4: Bluewater Benchmark 65 Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – MOLONGLE DASH 2nd – LOUDON 3rd – DANLOTTO 4th – SHADOW LINE

SHADOW LINE – Apprentice J Kuskopf accidentally dropped her whip passing the 200m.

Race 5: Landmark Ewan Cup Benchmark 72 Handicap 1600 metres:
1st – ISSUES 2nd – CYCLONE LARRY 3rd – SHADOW BUSTER 4th – MIGHTY MITE

ISSUES – Incurred a 2kg penalty following it winning the benchmark 65 1200m on Friday 26th September. Public announcements were made to this effect.

MIGHTY MITE and ATHABASCA which both competed in race 1 were inspected by the club’s veterinary officer and passed fit to take their place in the field.

ATHABASCA – A post race veterinary examination of gelding which tailed off did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Ms O Cairns said that ATHABASCA would now be retired. Acting on this assurance no action was taken.
